i love how the whole world is obsessed with getting old luke skywalker back. I mean Mark's STILL HERE!
Honestly that makes it less egregious, dead actors can't protest to their likeness being used after they're dead but at least Mark gets to see what they're doing.
Sure, but he can't play his younger self.
@Baxi he did state that last Jedi was an insult to Luke’s character, but when did he ever say that it was “woke garbage”? If anything, he has shown to be on board with the things that people like you might consider “woke”, so it doesn’t add up.
@Baxi "(insert baby crying noise) everything that disagrees with me and has black people and gays in it is (insert meaningless buzzword)" Mark Hamill has clashed with Ben Shapiro and has publicly denounced the don't say gay bill, he is "woke". Keep crying about it forever.

It's weird because it LOOKS better but it somehow seems more like a video game CG model now.
it looks worse
I thought your comment was silly but now that I looked at it again and closer I can kinda see the video game like CG now, good eye!
Disney s version looks better, but the animation is less believable
I agree
It's definitely superior, the reason it may look videogame is the sparks and saturated highlights are a bit too intense and are slightly off in where the lightning is located. Not much, but just enough to still feel strange, and as they said it's still about 10% Dean seeping through. The crispness of the face is probably due to some sort of correction by their render making it look just a bit more crisp than the normal footage, missing a slight bit of motion blur or something. Videogames look very crisp in their renders like that, so maybe a very minor amount of blur here and there when his head moves could correct that.
The eyes ABSOLUTELY sold it. I thought the lip movement didn't exactly match at times, but the eyes, for me, made up for it.
Agreed, but to be fair (to be fair) the lips didn't line up great in the show either. So I think it's more in the plus column for CC.

Don't get me wrong. i am beyond happy with what we got in the mandalorian. Except for one little detail that you guys added. Luke's Warmth. He seemed very staunch and heroic but a bit detached from the situation in the mandalorian. but in the few seconds of your animation and performance. The little smile made me think "Thats the Luke skywalker I grew up with in the Movies, Books and Games." That little smile he gives said it all about him.
yes! he felt so dead and lifeless in the show, i would have been totally happen with this version if it was in the show, there’s a few things you can notice (such as the fact that it’s a wig, grogu isn’t reaching up when luke picks him up, small things tho. ) overall super amazing and nostalgic
That’s such a great point. Luke looked emotionless in the mandalorian episode. He did look much better in the following appearances
Absolutely.
What sells it are the eyes moving and moving naturally. If you take the eye movements and the lighting and add it to the Disney shot, it would pretty much look like they used footage from Return of the Jedi.
Hey sup dude
Agreed. They went too far with what seemed like to many emotions. It seemed like "I will show emotion #1, then I will show emotion #2, now, emotion #3 ..." It didn't feel natural for the context of the situation. Instead keeping most of the existing emotional expression but with added the eye movement of Luke looking around the room to assess who's there, smile/emote more to invite Grogu, move the eyes more to look over Grogu (and back & forth him & Mando), then scan the room again before leaving would have been a winner. But then again, for each advancement in technology & technique, we become better able at detecting it & the flaws, so even those things would stop tricking us after a while.
Yep. With that alone it absolutely blew me away how good it looks.
I think if they made a "real" set, with just like dummies, in place of the people, so his eyes can move better, with actual set points, like mandalorian A B C and the baby yoda down behind the camera somewhere, his eyes, when scanning the room would look infinitely better
I think what hurt the original was that Luke didn't smile and his eyes didn't completely work. This fixed both those problems.
From a VFX artist, both versions definitely have their strong points - the original has more of a photorealism feel despite it's flaws as outlined by many. The Corridor's version definitely dynamic and full of emotion - a valiant attempt! Great job all around!
Exactly!
Very much this!
Agreed, this was sharper, but I dont think this is "better". This one has a bit more uncanny valley feel to me as what Disney did looks more photorealistic even if it is less sharp (the sharpness actually adds a cgi/high quality video game feel to me as opposed to making it more real), but it still is impressive what these guys did, even if I disagree with the clickbait "better" claim.
they probably barely worked on this and are a much smaller studio so mad props.
agreed
the bit where he said "I am" was the best part. Had so much more empathy than the original cut. The smile and nod was lovely too. Its amazing what people are doing with what I imagine are less resources than Disney and totally killing it. congratulations
I love the amount of time and effort that was put into it. The lighting and shadow looks much better. However the CGI looks a lot more noticeable on your version than Disney's.
Just to let everyone know Mark Hamill did see this and tweeted "I think this video is the perfect way to display your abilities & further your careers in the industry. Hello there
Ah general kenobi, you really are a bold one
The hair was bad in this new one.
RAID SHADOW LEGENDS!
2 things that made it more believable: 1. The eyes have more life in them 2. The body language is not as rigid as it was in the original
About the only thing that looked off was the lip sync with the vocals, which could be corrected over time most likely. also a better match body type and hairstyle would make it almost seamless
The smiles and hand waves made it. You guys are awesome
he definitely has way more emotion, so many props to you guys for the effort you put in. It just makes me miss the real luke skywalker, in all honesty. he deserved more than just three movies (I am glad we got to see him in the mandalorian and tbobf though). also yes Im ignoring the sequels
I think your version definitely has WAY more emotion and looks more fluid and less stiff than Disney's. It’s so weird how important the eyes are. The dead eyes from Disney makes the whole thing feel dead even though the hair and other points are better, but because the eyes were alive I could forgive everything else!
Disney modeled Luke's eyes after the eye's of their soulless executives, that was their problem.
How would that be weird? considering we spend most of our time looking people in the eyes while we look at someone so we get quite familiar with how eyes are supposed to work.

@@umairbutt1355 mannerisms are the easiest? In terms of creating high-quality content, I agree, but in terms of trying to make this actually look like Luke Skywalker, I wouldn’t say that’s the easiest. Literally pulling some guy from the office and working to a tight timeframe. This is no less than outstanding.
If they had the resources to cast someone with a little bit heavier build, and get a truly professional wig those 2 things and this scene would be totally superior. The actual face looks much more believable. It just doesn't match up to original look b/c of the hair and smaller neck / build. Impressive as heck for a small studio in a short time.
I think they both looked bad. As in if I never watched starwars before and didn't know who Mark Hamill was, I would still be immediatley able to tell this is a poorly done computer generated image. Even video games make better looking and more believable characters. This isn't a criticism of the small crew that these guys had, but I am criticizing Disney. The question is clearly, why? Why would a company with seemingly infinite resources do such a poor job? I think it is because they are so sophisticated now, with how well they can actually imitate people, they don't want to raise questions like, "Is anything I am watching on TV or the internet real?" Disney owns a bunch of news networks now, so they do have conflicting interest. If you want to see something funny, check out Sassy justice on YT. You can see how well they can fake people with open source tech. The only conclusion one can draw is that Luke looks poorly conjured by design.

Heck, even given another week with no extra budget it could've been pretty perfect.
@@jaystrid2796 yup!!! 💯💯
Dude, that was wayyyyyy better than Disney's version. U guys need to be hired , ASAP!!!!!! U can still tell its CGI it didn't look as robotic like Disney's.
This Luke Skywalker shows more emotion. Incredible
you did everything better that they got wrong, and everything worse that they got right.
Now someone needs to splice both shots to make this right.
Agreed. Corridor fell short with things like hair, body type, and acting because they didn't have the time or money to invest in getting the best of those things, but the lighting on the face itself looked way better. This shows that Disney could have employed some of these techniques to make a much more convincing shot.
corridor crew is a bunch of inauthentic youtubers. PLEASE DISNEY HIRE THEM. I don't want to see their videos in my recommended anymore. In fact... I'm just gonna block them...
@@execthegaming why are you mad?
I know!! Somehow they managed to make Luke more real looking and more robotic looking at the same time.
"He wants your permission." This shot looked excellent.
A thousand times better now. Great job
I lover this noe so much, feels incredible powerfull and somehow bigger than the original. I'm taking this one as canon
The original feels like a low quality effect on an IRL shot, while the corridor's version feels like a really high quality video game cut scene.
This sums it up perfectly. It is the exact characterization I couldn’t put into words. Well said, dude.
Perfectly explained.
The quick, subtle smile before he says 'come little one' was incredible. The emotion of Luke seeing a tiny spark of his old master in the little one, well done.
I did not saw it like this at firts, but after you said it it now looks so amazing.
“Do you really think we can do better than a multi-million dollar company?” This is very much proof that it’s not all about money; it’s about having the right tools AND skills, AND time. I bet y’all had more time to do this than they actually did for the show, and if you’re right about the double stack thing, you had a better method. This really did look a lot better than Disney’s. I think if you let it bake even longer, and then went in and did some manual touchups [there were some tiny points where you could see a line between the “mask” and Dean’s face] you could make it *perfect*
I basically consider you the hacksmith for cinema. You even kind of look like him
I would say that the Disney version looks more realistic when it comes to the texture, but when it came to movement and interaction with lighting you guys' is far superior. Excellent job!
My thoughts exactly.
Because disney used an actual set and corridor used a cgi background.
@@fleetadmiralhazen i was referring purely to Skywalker himself as opposed to anything else, sorry for not clarifying
They made it almost exact to how skywalkers physical appearance was in the good movies (not sequels)
Same the deepface still looks more cartoony but the small movements like in the lips and eye movement are better. so there still needs work to improve the overlay but still keep the small details to keep from looking like a moving statue.
This was done in two weeks... imagine if they had more time to tweak. Imagine if they had a bigger budget.... someone hire these guys for big budget hollywood projects already.
Hollywood is dead
Except theirs looks waxy
Funny thing is that they tried and the heads kept "critiquing" their work XP
@@SliCooper they don't deserve this aawesome team.
@@TheOfficial_CommanderShepherd naw it's just owned by china now
Some of the scenes were just so much more. He needed more head and eye movement and smiles in the original.
I think this was amazing. The wig threw it off for me but you guys should be proud. And the vibe of everyone's hard work is something most of us would want in a "workplace".
It definitely has more emotion and nicer lighting, but it does feel like it has a lot more fake elements to it now. However, I'll take more emotion over complete photo realism any day!

He looks more compassionate in the remake too. His body language is kinder and more welcoming.
But we talking bout the face which is cgi, not the rest of the body
Hmm, you guys do amazing work, but Disney definitely gets the win here. Disney's version is flawed to, but it looks more lifelike. Yours looks like something I'd expect in Jedi Knight: Fallen Order, or another video game. Looks very video game CGI-like. Great work, anyways!!
Oh man, the face masks indoors on shared ventilation made me remember all the stupid things we did during the coof-19.
"can we do better than a multi-billion dollar company?" Every Bethesda modder ever: nodding sagely "It can be done."
Just like a single community contributor did leagues better than Games Workshop...
This is the way
This is the Way
creation kit should be renamed to community kit ahahahahah beyond skyrim will probably have influence on ES6 too lol
Todd: I just works
Next video: Corridor channel is closing because we all got hired by Disney.
Sued * by Disney
Not closing, they would have “fuck you” money, and could do WHATEVER THEY WANTED! :) It would be limitless creativity! (As long as Disney let them out of the sweatshop to continue working the corridor channel).
Underrated comment
Or cease and desist
This is soooo good. Seeing this Luke made me more emotional.
Luke's face was enhanced by your boy's 10% fade in, made it believable. The eyes were real, and feature believable. Only the left jaw ( my perspective), had light contrast, okay quality. Almost five stars.
