After winning the SheBelieves 2024 Cup final, do you think the USWNT is ready for the Olympics?
The US Women National Team won over Canada in a close match. Adriana Leon scored a goal in the last minutes of the game, and Alyssa Naeher saved the day during the penalty kicks, just like last month's W Gold Cup Semifinal. #uswnt #SheBelievesCup #Soccer #WomensSoccer #SheBelievesCup2024 #USWins

  • Trying to defend Mal, Soph, Trin, and Shaw all at the same time is hell on any defense. I would start those 4 upfront every game and let them build that chemistry. They looked amazing for the limited time we did see them together. Alex gotta come off the bench imo.

  • Thanks so much for your game analysis. I had read many reviews before yours. To your credit, yours is above and beyond any other that I had read. An incredible insight indeed. Beginning from the start of the game till the end is very spot on. I was an international soccer goalkeeper, and later on the college level, so i am able to match your views with appreciation. The only suggestion that I do have is that as you stated, there were issues in the first half. My observation was that they appeared over coached before the match started, which created a slight appearance of wanting to be perfect, indecisive, and nervous from the front line all the way to the defense. Cohesion requires some time for proper adaptation. Not to change the player positions and tactics weekly. Most of the front line, are mostly played out of positions from their different club assignments. That can be daunting sometimes with such wholesale changes every week. So, they do have to be thinking too much before they react, instead of simply reacting to what they are already accustomed to. A greater team would probably have scored two goals in that first half, which would have been difficult to recover from by the USWNT. Alyssa Naeher has been great indeed, going back to her World Cup appearance, of which she caught a penalty also in that series. In soccer goalkeeping, more so than other positions, longevity and experience counts a lot for decision making and confidence. She is reaping the rewards of both, and I can attest to that. She does however need to practice coming out of the goal a little better after the last 2 games. At this moment in time for the Olympics, a steady team combination should already be in place, barring injuries. The opportunity for that might still be lagging, which the She Believes Cup, Gold Cup should have resolved before that last game. Once again thanks so much for your analysis.

    • Thanks a lot for your comment! Your perspective is truly valuable and adds a lot to the conversation. We truly appreciate your suggestion and the thoroughness of your analysis. Thanks again for taking the time to share your expertise and for your kind words regarding our analysis. Your point about the team looking over-coached and indecisive at the beginning of the match is particularly interesting. Over-preparation can hinder natural play on the field, and shifting players out of their club positions can add complexity and hesitation. As you mentioned, Alyssa Naeher experience as a goalkeeper is valuable, but she needs to improve in coming out for crosses and cutting downs. It's super important to have a steady team before the Olympics. The SheBelieves Cup and Gold Cup were great opportunities to adjust the strategy and improve understanding among the players, but there's still room for improvement.

  • With the 4-3-3 arrange with good passes to fast running Smith would be worked for the U.S Women's Team

    @lamha7898@lamha789823 күн бұрын
    • Totally agree with you! A 4-3-3 formation would be awesome as they have some great passers, and with Smith's speed up front, it'd be a winning strategy. It's gonna be exciting to see how they face the Olympic challenge.

  • Honestly US team is in the good shape now but still not enough if we face with Europe teams like Germany, Spain…. And just my opinion keep Lavelle as attacking midfielder

    • Facing strong European teams like Germany and Spain is quite a challenge. They're tough opponents, and the competition is fierce. Rose Lavelle is a really good attacking midfielder, and keeping her in that position would be great for the team's performance. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  • Of course that was Canada’s plan about Smith. They saw her starting and neutralized her. Putting her on the wing with not a lot of speed next to her only made that easier. Both Rodman and Swanson are faster than Morgan and Shaw. Happy Twila got it right in the 2nd half for both Smith and Shaw.

    @candacelong7643@candacelong764321 күн бұрын
    • Thanks for your insights on the game! The changes made by Twila in the second half really turned things around for both Smith and Shaw, proving that adaptability and strategy are key. Having this kind of tactical flexibility could make a huge difference in the USWNT's performance at the Olympics.

  • They wasted the past year trying to force has-been and never-was instead of giving better players the opportunity to build cohesion. It’s too late now. I will not be surprised if the U.S. doesn’t make it out of the group stage. Maybe then they’ll realize it’s time to reform the front line so they can score goals. They will never get back on top until they take off the blinders and see what’s actually happening on the pitch instead of pretending.

  • I dont see this team winning the Gold medal because the team just got a new coach and are still trying to find the right combo up front. They still dont have a dominant 6 player either. I do hope they can medal tho.

    • Thanks for your input! It's super important to play against top teams if you want to get the experience and toughness required to succeed in the Olympics. Injuries definitely add another layer of complexity to their preparation. But they have a knack for stepping up when it counts.

  • In the last Olympic U.S. lost, and World Cup lost too. In order to always win, most of the players need to change their diets. They are eating very wrong some of them. Lindsey Horan answered me my suggestion and you can see now how much weight she lost and how fast is she now. Specially changing her breakfast.

      @mracer8@mracer820 күн бұрын
    • Eating well is as important for athletes as scoring goals, and it's cool to see players willing to make changes to improve their performance. But it's not just about that - a team's success is also about having a solid game plan, working well together, and being able to handle whatever comes their way. Thanks for being part of the discussion!

  • Sure the US team could take it all. BUY they won’t be the favorites this time. I do believe that at this time they indeed are the number 4 or 5 team in the world The major problem I see is this team in the last 3 years or so just doesn’t seem United. The team used to be a United sisterhood. From my observations there is much more dissension on this team then any time in the past. I would venture to say it’s political in nature, everyone seems to have a agenda to push that they put over team play. When you get a group of people together from all walks of life you just can’t agree on everything. Opinions cause judgment and arguing ! My solution is ladies have your agendas but keep out of team time. There should be no deep Discussions about political and moral points of view. Your business. Is to win games and only games. two cents from a fan !!
