And I was waiting for the Wire Fox Terrier. My grandmother had 2. I grew up with a Welsh Terrier. Sealyham Terriers have been on the brink of disappearing. They were once very popular in old Hollywood, owned by Gary Cooper, Humphrey Bogart, Jean Harlow, Bette Davis, Hitchcock and more. The breed was also seen in movies like H M. Pulham, Esq. and The Birds.
@@BridgetR72remember th wire in Thin Man movies.. Th brew does a lot of winning, especially th most at Westminster. Very few Ceskies, & not very attractive , way are groomed . Mini bullter become very popular, compared to th standards. Idk why none ..?
Of course. I loved Asta. The same dog was Mr. Smith in The Awful Truth with Cary Grant and Irene Dunne. It's one of my favorite movies. Just watched it again recently.

My mom doesn’t like dogs EXCEPT the parsons Russell and the Russell terrier. So every year we hope they win. It’s adorable to see my mom go AWWWW THEYRE CUTE when they come up

All of the dogs in this entire show, across all groups, were just astonishing. I don't think I've ever seen a more fascinating group of animals in all my years watching these competitions.

I HATE when folks clip AmStaff's ears. If you have ever walked behind one with its floppy ears bouncing, you'd never want them docked.
I have an am staff, intact ears, so bouncy 😅🫶🏼

its to keep up breed standard and some dogs are docked and clip because its a working dog, i have a clipped LSG because he warns off coyotes. they can use this ers to hold him down.
I thought the Irish Terrier was stunning. I also loved the Border Terrier and the miniature Schnauzer. I loved them all...lol
That Kerry was outstanding, true to type, movement, structure, colour.
Terrier group very competitive, hard to pick, Sealy is # 1 all breed, deserved th win wire fox are always good ones, was absent .
@@Memow-pk1ngit was, was disappointing to see the Rottweiler in the working group though. They are my breed favourite as well as the terriers!

i was totally offended when the Cairn terrier was mentioned as the most aloof dog on the chart. I have owned and known Cairn terriers for decades and have never met one that has not greeted me very enthusiastically. They are very attentive, loving dogs. Mine are always close by knowing where i am at all times when in the house or outside with them. Very affectionate.
All are individuals, just generalization. Bet owners of Afghan, Bassett, bulldog, offended, bc are considered dumbest..??
@@Memow-pk1ng My father worked with a man who owned Afghans. He said they are the dumbest dogs ever, almost impossible to house train. He loved them for their beauty, but told my father to never own one. We had a Border Collie at the time!

That judge doesn't feel well. His breath was labored. He looks so pale and I heard him mumble under his breath, "I'm dying here". Hope he's doing okay now.
I think he also said it was too hot in there so maybe that's it hopefully.

Scotties are exactly what the announcer said. They are not keen on strangers, and fearless watchdogs. I was walking two of ours many years ago. Duncan the male fought off two pitbulls off leash that tried to attack Emma the puppy. The pitbulls went running away.

The parsons Russell and Russell terrier were EVER so cute. I’m so glad the Sealyham ending up winning best in show! I was looking forward to seeing the Boston terrier though. Also, did anyone catch the judge mutter “god I’m dying here”. I’m sure he was very hot but when my family was watching it we were DYING laughing

Not every breed carrying the name "terrier" is in the AKC Terrier Group. The Biewer, Black.Russian, Boston, Silky, Tibetan, and Yorkshire Terrier are all in groups other than the Terrier Group. The Boston Terrier belongs to the Non-Sporting Group, as does the Tibetan Terrier.

My favorites were the Bedlington Terrier, Cairn Terrier, Scottish Terrier, Skye Terrier and Glen of Imaal Terrier. If I was the judge, I would have picked the Skye Terrier. Also after watching each dog show groups multiple times, I noticed that the Smooth Fox Terrier's handler was the youngest handler. She conducted herself very well with her dog. I see a future for her as a show handler. Also her attire was pretty. And I also noticed the Smooth Fox Terrier noticed the camera.

I have a Soft Coated Wheaten terrier and he is so sweet and so goofy. I got him when he was 4 months old ( seven years ago) and he still has a full tail.
We have a Wheaten too and he is a massive sweetie. Definitely will get into trouble if bored or left alone for too long, but as long as he gets his walks and lots of attention he is the best boy! Definitely a massive goofball, loves to jump off the stairs halfway down.

@Memow-pk1ng It *is* a pitbull. John Colby, the man who created the breed, did so with the intention of creating basically a brand name pitbull. One of those Staffordshire Pitbull Terriers would kill Colby's two year old nephew. The poor kid got too close and the dog snatched him up and snapped his neck. The police did nothing, probably because several were involved with dogfighting themselves. The pitbull, no sorry, the STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER wasn't put down. It was sold for large sum of money, about $10,000 in today's money. I also couldn't help but notice while the dog was waiting to be judged, it was actually not very well behaved at all. It couldn't be still or ignore the other dogs to save its life.
@@ingasparrowamstaff is not a pitbull. Amstaff and American pitbull terrier has different breed standards and different bloodlines.
@maddogsenglishmen8020 Yeah, one is five inches shorter, five pounds lighter, comes with papers but was also bred with the purpose of engaging in unprovoked fights to the death for gambling. Totally different dog. I'm sure if I placed a black APBT next to a black Amstaff and a black Staffordshire Bull Terrier, you could tell me which is which. Also did you know the UKC allows a APBT to be simultaneously registered as Amstaff? If they're such different breeds, why is that allowed?
@@ingasparrowukc has no idea what a pitbull is. The only standard is adba standard for the pitbull. And yes its very easy to tell an amstaff...staff and American pitbull apart..even if the same colour. Ukc pitbull is not a real pitbull.

And the American pitbull terrier. Makes no sense why they would have the amstaff and bull terrier and Staffordshire bull terrier but not the American pitbull terrier.

My favourite breed won, one of the rarest dogs on earth the Sealyham terrier.
All dogs are awesome but my taste must be unusual as I would not have chosen any of those ones as the top contenders.

Can someone please tell me... "Where is the Wire Fox Terrier?". This is the first time I have watched a National Dog show that didn't have one. A dog that has won
Isnt it an important part of being terrier that your tail can be used to pull you out of vermin holes? Especially the breeds that do this, why do no one picks them up this way anymore? Am I missing something?

Up to judge which s of closest to AKC written standard, all have different opinions. But it's lot political, judges know th handlers, & th Sealy is #1 all breed, so safe bet

White & mini bullterriers were absent, was a nice AmStaff, but I don't like th show type Staffy, prefer th larger English type Staffies
Real American Pitbull terrier beats the amstaff bull terrier and Staffordshire terrier. But they wont allow it compete
@@maddogsenglishmen8020 I have two APBTs so I feel the same way! The closest the dog show got was a few years ago, an Amstaff (I think his name was Louie?) won for the terrier group but he didn't win best in show.
