  • I'm no expert in physics so take this with a grain of salt, but I would expect a smaller bouncy ball to bounce higher. I would guess the greater the mass, the more inertia meaning it would require more energy to stop and change direction (bounce). Plus the greater surface area of a large bouncy ball I think would mean that more kinetic energy was transformed into heat as the material stretches and contracts. Love to see some tests of like a 2 lb bouncy ball vs a 20 pound bouncy ball.

    @RavenWindrunner@RavenWindrunner9 ай бұрын
    • i would guess it reached it's terminal velocity along the way

      @SoneGurke@SoneGurke8 ай бұрын
    • @@SoneGurkeI haven't had to do much physics calculations in a while so I can't off hand determine what each balls terminal velocity would be if it achieved that while falling. Assuming each balls velocity wasn't massively different when it reached the ground, the inertia of the much larger mass would be much higher. I would think the larger ball would lose more energy through heat as it stretches than the smaller ball, meaning less vertical force back upwards. But it would be interesting to see in practice.

I used to throw mine with as much spin as possible, as high as possible (which was about a three story house) and try to catch it. Most of the times I did not catch it, and it just hit the asphalt at supersonic speeds (falling + the spinning). Did this countless times without issues. The front and back just popped off and snapped right back.

  • yeah, saw that last ball failure coming a mile away. Superballs work, because the elasticity is uniform through the sphere because the material density is equal. by forming the ball in two halves, then just glueing it together (even if its the same material) the entire sphere wwould need to be re-heated as to properly bond them. The difference in material density became a sheering plane.
