Fastest way to fix bmw stability control for your bmw.
ABS Reluctor Ring problem.
You can solve your DSC issues in few minutes for free.
This fix works on all BMW cars with ABS reluctor rings.
All this cost me was the cost of a cheap garage-jack that I needed anyway. Could have been thousands! Thank you! this is a lifesaver! As has been commented earlier though; make sure to use super-thin washers. A little to fat, and the abs and traction systems go offline and the dash lights up like a Christmas tree! Brilliant video, man! Very helpful! Thanks again!
How thin can the washer be? Can you provide approximate measurements?
@@68KKC I just put a 1mm washer and drove 20km, works fine. If I have any problems with longer trips I will post a comment. If you are installing a new sensor I suggest 1mm to rotect the plastic, if you use the old one then even 0.3mm can work as the plastic is already eaten up and you dont need a lot of distance.
By simply checking each wheel. Lol
I had the same problem with my 10 years old BMW 1 series and I tried this fix and just came back from a test drive. I works perfectly. Thank you!
Brilliant, fixed my 2011 E91 in 10mins. Pickup had clearly touched the ring. Recommend to follow this fix.
Thanks for video, did this fix today, removed and cleaned both rear ABS sensors, I also cleaned the ABS ring with penetrating oil, put washers underneath ABS bracket and it worked. Thanks again, highly recommended!
Thanks for sharing this information, this problem has happened to me and didn't know what to do without pulling out the drive shaft and replacing the Reluctor Ring. Bravo !!
I followed your video to clean my sensors and it worked. No more ABS kicking in all the time. Thank you very much!
Waqas Siddiqui the question is: will the ABS still work when you’ll need it the most? Hope you wont dive into a tree while braking.
Adrian - well said, - the ecu deactivates the abs, when u have driveshaft issues without u known, these guy's are trying to hid a major rear-end..
Try the ring pull from a drinks can instead of a washer! Perfect thickness to allow the sensor to still see the ring and allow it to operate properly
I had this issue on my 120d. Warning light, reduced rpm then limp mode. The fix from various garages was between £180 to over £400 ( from BMW ). My local specialist garage did the fix you outline in the video for £70. That was about 20,000 miles ago. Had no issues with it since. :-)
hi there, would you recommend your local garage to me please?
Which garage was that?
A thousand thank you. It works perfectly for my 2000 BMW 328i. The mechanic quoted me $2350.
This worked perfectly for my 2010 bmw X3 "581C" BMW OBD2 code . Thank you very much for this video!
This works perfectly!!! What a guy !!! Thanks bro.
Thank you for your video, My BMW 1 series 20d M Convertible had the same problem. I done what you did with a plastic washer. It works fine and when I make the car skid/loose control the traction control still kicks in. Job done 👍
Great fix. I have this problem too. I think this could work well. Thank you 👍
Great video. We have two BMW's. and I do the maintenance of them.
You are a life saver thank you so much I got quoted nearly 900 pounds, and I did this today and it worked thank you!!
Thanks milkeh S for your feedback. I'm really glad it helped
What's that like pesos
Did you have to reset anything or the light on the dash just gone after rework? Thanks I need to do mine tomorrow
@@ebercorapi141did it work??
Had the same problem on my 120D Coupe...My old eyes thought that the fault light was the A start system / EGR valve kicking in and cutting power !! My local garage looked at the diagnostics and no fault on the EGR and diagnosed the Reluctor ring. Fixed as per your video £70... Good call .. BMW would have changed a shaft.....robbers
How do you know which wheel it is located on or how many or is it just one sensor? On the drivers side? I'm having the same issue
Brilliant, done it today took both sensors out and cleaned them and the ring added washer it’s working perfect now
Worked great on my 2000 BMW 328 ci thanks 🤗
Excellent explanation and creative, inexpensive solution that you explained very clearly. Just subscribed. Thank you!
Thanks L S!
Great video, fixed my annoying Tc light coming on intermittently and losing power!!! Just make sure u don't use a thick washer like I did first time round...made the speedo wobble and brakes lock up when stopping at a slow speed!!! just make sure washer is super thin👍👍👍
Just fixed my problem because of you....thanks!!
I just did it today..my fuxxing car, e90 2005, annoying me a lot!! It works, anyway!!! Great..thanks!!! If anyone has same problem, just follow this.. do it both of rear wheels. Only 1 hour enough to do.!!
Thanks Seok-hyun Jung for sharing your experience with us. I'm glad this video helped you :)
Is it just for the rear wheels?
Seok-hyun Jung do I suppose to do it for all the wheels?
Would this issue also cause the parking brake to lock up? I currently have ABS/Traction and Engine Warnings on E84 X1.
Thank you sir . You just saved me some hard earned $$$. Need more videos from you . Cheerz
What size washer to use? Thank you so much for this video
thank you so much for this info! now i can finally fix my Bmw Z3s abs light/ brake light problem on the dash board! :D
Thank you for your video. I have BMW E90 320i 2009 model. I found your video on the KZhead. And then, I can fix same trouble.
Works great on my E81 116i... thank you 👍
I have this fault at the moment. Is there a way I can tell which tire it is so that I can perform the temporary fix on it? Thank you.
Thanks a lot. I just have the same problem on my BMW too.
thanks a lot .. with BMW X3 All Wheel Drives I have to make it for 4 Wheels ?
From Mexico with Like You video God bless you my friend keep adding videos say hi to everyone in your country and be safe
What is the spacer/ washer dia. which you used?
What size washer do you use iv got same issue with my 320d touring 2012
Wish I'd known about this a few years ago. It happened to me when I was travelling to a ferry to drive abroad for a short holiday. I had to take it to my garage and get it fixed same day. I got charged £750
Thanks for this video tutorial. I have 08 750li (E66). The DSC keeps coming on in low speeds out of the parking lot of backing up. Im gonna try this on all four wheels. It is the most annoying thing for this BMW. Appreciate the good video lesson
Do you have to do this for all wheels? Do you think think can work for a 2013 BMW X3 Xdrive28i?
Great Video. I got the ring and sensor replaced on one side last year. I now have problem with other side and need temporary fix until eventually replacing the ring there too. I am currently deactivating dynamic stability control every time I drive to prevent juddering.
Hey Alan. Thanks for the comment. I really appreciate it. It’s been more than 3 months after I done this quick fix. I didn’t experienced any problems whatsoever. Please let me know now about your fixing process.
My main concern now is that I have National Car Test(NCT in Ireland) this Friday and this problem may show up. I actually don't mind driving around (at least temporarily) with this issue because all I do is press the DSC button for about 5 seconds to deactivate DSC and the juddering stops. I might try your fix in the next few days.
You are damaging the ABS sensor every time you drive our car. It’s rubbing against the reluctor ring. It’s best to move sensor As Soon As Possible in order to save the ABS sensors life :D
After this fix your DSC will work normally. You'll pass your NCT with flying colours.
Very true Regis Garage. Good advice.
Awesome stuff mate! Thank you!
Cool. Thanks for your comment🙏
i have this on my dash, would this cause my car to stall underload as that is whats happening at the moment!, i will definately try this!
How thick is the washer i put a washer in. Can it be to thick or check somewere else?
Wish me luck! I will try this fix tomorrow! I've had this problem for over a year now on my E90. I manually turn off the DTC, and it drives fine. I will be replacing all 4 ABS sensors, and give the reluctor rings, and sensor holes on driver axle a good scrubbing/scraping.
How it went
?
Great upload mate i do all my work on my car is good to see what people are up to 👍
It's really nice to find like minded people.
Regis Garage your welcome 👍
I'm having this issue. traction controll warning light along with parking brake. are they related? Also do I need to check all 4 to find the problem? I don't have a fancy odb reader
Many thanks for you today I got some problems I was on my way to London
I got exactly the same Problem, but my obd tool shows 3 steering angle sensor errors. Could it still be the abs sensor or should I try to clean the steering angle sensor?
Hi, I have a 2011 BMW 740LI, my car has been down powering on me while driving, along with a saying DSC malfunction engine chassis stabilization reduced. Once I turn the car off and back on the malfunction goes away and I can drive again for a couple days until it does it again. After taking it in to BMW having them do a diagnostics check they’re saying I need a new DME which costs about $2500. Is this something I should do with my car first before I spend thousands of dollars on a new DME, please let me know what you think. Thank you very much
Thank you for this this share! I'm having that problem, and will try this. many thanks
Did it work?
What if you change both sensors and the disc malfunction comes back on? Thanks
Sounds like the wheel bearing is causing a ring/sensor contact issue. It probably will drive a long time like that however.
I had this light come up when driving on the motorway but after about 3 hours at about 70mph everytime I accelerate in a straight line, i done a diagnostic after journey but nothing come up maybe need to diagnose when light is flashing? Any idea what issue could be?
Great video!! I did exacly thay u said and it works!! Thank you!! Greetings from netherlands!! Thumbs up
Perfect👍👍
ABS sensor control brakes and give informations to DSC ( Dinamic Slip Control ) which contol intake throtle . Is not breaking the wheels
Which models does this fix apply to? The video seems to show a car that is pretty mangy and generally lacking in maintanance (some of those suspension components really should be replaced).
I've got this issue right now! Definitely going to check into this, Thanks!
What was it did u fif its
Did u fix it ??
This is awesome! Thanks mate :D
Yes My DrivingForces. This fix could save a lot of money and time.
Can you tell me what inch spacer you used?
You are great my friend. Thank you!!
Lincoln mkz Some times thanks enough I don't know how I would thanks for this video Dealer said it cost you 2'300$ When I tried it all works for me, thanks for your very helpful video
But the question is - Which Tire? I have 2013 328i xDrive 4door Sedan.
I had this exact problem with my BMW-320. This problem is temperature dependent too. Since the magnetic HAL-effect (which is the principle for a reluctor-ring to operate correctly) is varies greatly with temperature. My problem started 2 weeks ago when the temperature here in Bergen / Norway dropped under 0 C. (I'm just mentioning this if hasn't been stated in the comment already; too lazy to read them all).
Hei man. I have the same problem with my BMW116. I got quoted 23000kr in Oslo. How did you fix it in the end?
@@esmaillutfi 23000 NOK is a rip-off!! I paid 5000 for a sensor-ring + 2 sensors.
What I did after this hack , took wire wheel to axle then treated it with rust conversion, then painted it. I check it every spring, and touch up as needed.
oh wow bro nice to see you at your new english channel im glad that people realise that creating in english is way better
Thanks :)
Thank you so much mate!
I have an issue with my 2016 F21 116d Sport. It doesn't happen all the time, but every 7/10 drives on average it will malfunction completely and the DSC is permanently disabled, meaning I also can't use cruise control or eco/sport/sport+ modes, unless I pull over, turn ignition off and start engine again and hope it doesnt happen. I find it happens if you slip the clutch a lot coming up out of an incline from a standstill. It also will just happen randomly cruising on the motorway and boom "DSC malfunction" into "cruise control failure" and I have to drive myself then. I might give this a go and hopefully it fixes the problem.
Hey thank for the nice diy. I have one question. Is that ring only on the rear driver side or on every corner?
Thanks T LY. There are ABS rings and ABS sensors on all 4 corners :)
Holy cow... You should not be working on your own car alone... I'm not saying this is a stupid question, but it does show your lack of general knowledge, that is required to be a successful dyi mechanic.
Thanks man, it works great and saved me a few bucks !
Glad to hear that 💪
Have the same problem . can drive for a few miles and then the light starts blinking ,( Like in the start of yourvid ) . Do i neeed to do this for all 4 wheels ?
Regis you are Lithuanian? And in Vilnius?
Thank Regis for your sharing a lot. The method works for my vehicle of BMW 09 Series 1.
Sound's great 🤔
Sound is great?
My DTC light is on, but no ABS or loss or power. Only thought, and garage said was linked to steering calibration sensor.
This is awesome....thanks a lot mate!did this and my problem was solved!
Thank very much, this is really helpfull
isit one wheel only or do we do all 4? i have this exact issue right now lol
How would I know if I have an ABS reluctor ring on my 2000 323i?
Any suggestion of auto start stop light flashing while driving and car doesnt drive properly
Genius
Hey iv got sought kind of problem too but my bmw lights up even abs light and hardens the steering wheel How can u help me
Hi guys, probably a sill question, is the DSC sensor on both sides, front left and right?
Is this only on the right hand side? I have this problem. When I start the car up I struggle moving off if I need to turn the wheel and it locks the wheels up
It's weird I have a 2004 BMW 325 I and when I'm on the highway at higher speeds the 3 lights come on the ABS, traction control, red brake light and then it goes until like a limp mode type so I pull over turn it off turn it back on and it goes away, like when I'm hitting 50-60 miles an hour and the rpms hit 3-4 thousand it shuts down the power and I have to pull off the highway,, I bought 2 front abs wheel speed sencers thinking that was my problem, but watching this video makes sense,, U THINK THAT I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE PUT A WASHER ON MY ABS SENCERS, should I do this to the front or real wheels?? I replaced all 4 oxygen sensors my disa valve my Ignition coils spark plugs even the oil level sensor thinking that would solve it cost me about 800 bucks for all that and I did all the work myselve, so I didnt have to pay no labor I'm at my last wits end with this I'm scared to drive fast on the highway
Thank you sir, your tip is good.
How can i tell from which one is the problome ? I got 320 2012 e90 - the abs/ftm/ and hand brake light...
that's awesome video my car is 800 hp this is jeep srt8 When I want to move with force, Will Lock has a very loud sound, and sometimes Will Lock is activated at high speed. What do you think is the problem?
Just spray PB Blaster on the Ring ! Magic
Do I have to doit on every single tire??
What side is the sensor on back driverside or passenger side
Good video bro!
I'm getting chassis stabilization code after I drive the car past 25 30 mph any idea what it could be brother?
Will the traction control still kick in if it now looses traction?….
Thanks for the gr8 vid. I just had 3 errors namely; ABS & FTM (Brake & Drive control sys failure) and DBC failure. Is it the same issue that you have just addressed? Appreciate a reply!
BimmerE90 I have the exact same issue with my e93. Mechanic told me i needed to replace the ABS control module which would cost over $4000. Did you ever get an answer on this?
@@rrryder Did you ever find the answer?
@@shannonp4037 I did not
Do you do to all wheels or how can you tell what tire or is
What size spacer to use?
washer on the bolt is a better option as the spacer will let dirty and damp in
Thanks for the video. How can you be sure that it's just the sensor and not the pump unit itself? I have seen many people replacing the whole unit or replacing the whole sensor. Thanks.
That’s a good question Alejandro. Usually diagnostics will show sensor or pump malfunction. In my case there were no faults. So I made a visual inspection and found out that one of the sensors is touching the ABS ring.
Alejandro Blumenfeld thanks for sharing, this is awesome, I had the same issue, it was flickering as in your video, and then it went onto full abs warning light ! Then when I parked up left the car few hours got back in the warning had gone!?!? I will try this thank you
I had the same problem. At first the flickering triangle light appeared occasionally. But then it started to do this more often as the ABS sensor was touching the reluctor ring more and more.
UPDATE: Ive put the washers in, took it for a test drive, not false ABS warning when cornering hard! REGIS, you are a legend thanks for sharing! I also found that the cable block in the housing in the front end to be full of mud, so cleaned this out incase. Also on the rears arches they are not proctected at all, as the inner well protector is a absorbent material water can get through , ive boxed them off to prevent water shortening connectors?! so far so good! thanks again¬!!
OMG! Thanks for your comment. I was wondering if this video helped someone. I think we don’t need worry about that cable block. The cables and connectors are weather proof. There is a seal to protect it from the elements.
I try this on my BMW e92 2007, but it not help. First i had only the flashing traction control lamp, after i do this in the video i have abs, dsc, dtc and tyrepressure lamp on. It comes and goes when i drive.
Are you near NJ ??
Great job👍🏻👍🏻
The problem with E87 common problems is that there’s a lot of common problems
