In short if you have the iPhone 11 Pro Max...no reason to upgrade unless you take loads of night photos.
You gotta remember the lower saturation isnt a bad thing. It opens up for a wider variety of editing in post
The cameras might not be a reason to upgrade but the ram is definitely, I know it wasn’t the subject of this video 😉

I do it as a hobby.. and I agree.. nightshots are dismissed a lot by anyone.. and it shows how the sensor will behave in hard situations of light..
From XS to 12 pro max for me is a big upgrade :) i'm happy I've waited 2yrs before switching. Thumbs up

A really great video that gave me less useless tech details and super polished pro shots and more of how I will actually experience the differences in my everyday uses of the iPhone camera. Now THIS is a great comparison video ! Unfortunately, just as you said, I personally liked "some" of the 11 PM pics better. I have a number of DSLR cameras, so I get the trade offs in photography. But these phones definitely create a dilemma. I'm getting a choice of either two 11 PM, or 12 PM phones (long story), but I have to decide, taking in all features and considerations. Conventional wisdom would scream "get the 12's !", but it hasn't been that simple. This video really helps and hurts lol! Thank you for the extensive work done on this !
Another great comparison! I am super disappointed that Apple was not able to remedy the green ghost flares, as they are super distracting at night. This is especially pronounced in video at night while walking around, and it just becomes very distracting for the viewer. Hopefully they can take care of this in next years model, as I don't see this on most other non-iPhones.
Yeah that coating on the lenses need improvement!
I agree the lens flare is almost a deal breaker.
All smartphones has this ghost flares, not only Apple its the limitation design of lenses in smartphones. Samsung has it, Pixel has it. It just different in terms of the shape of the flares and colors between all these brands.

I’m still paying on my 11 pro max because i was late to the game and from what i can see the 12 isnt a game changer for me. I do love the crisper night mode and ultra wide but with $500 left to pay on my 11 pro max i can wait!😊 Thank you for your in-depth reviews. I always check yours first!
12 pro max is worth the upgrade. I couldn't stand how small the iPhone 11 pro max feel and looks next to this beast.

Thanks for this. I live in Italy. Bought my 11 ProMax 256GB New for $1100 in February, with no sales tax, when I was in California, but the same thing in the 12 Pro Max would run me over $1600 here in Italy. I think I'll be sticking with my 11 ProMax for awhile. Plus, I'm a professional photographer, so I'll bring my better gear if I want the best photos. But the 11 ProMax was such an upgrade from the XS Max, and I have the 3 lenses, so I'm happy for now.

FINALLY, someone sold me on the 12 pro max photos. The first half of the video I was loving the 11 pro max MORE. But at night the 12 is taking it home.

Seems to be it is worth the upgrade just because of the night time pictures and video. However from what I understand, the iphone 12 upgrade their antenna for better reception. I have seen test comparing both phone with data speed and the iphone 12 totally beat the iphone 11 on data speed and reception. For that alone, it is a must upgrade. I usually tell people it isn't worth an upgrade from last year for any phone. But the antenna alone is a good reason to upgrade.

Pls compare p40 pro plus vs 12 pro max night camera test
On my end i see the change I have always wanted and its that major yellowish tone in all the pictures and almost out FINALLY. My eyes see a more realistic scene with the Iphone 12/12 pro max. Huge change for me. For example at 0.39 sec the photo in the left you can see the white wood trim is not really white and and on the right side, the white is a real white and even the bleu looks much better.
Any chance you compare a 12PM to an X for people that don't upgrade EVERY year, but rather every other year or maybe longer.

I upgraded from the 11 pro max to the 12 pro max I must say I’m satisfied with my choice I had no issues with the 11 pro max it serves me well especially the battery life but I loved having the night mode on all three lenses and LiDAR scanner

I’ve got the 12 Pro Max Danny, I absolutely love it, and everything about it, I had the Huawei P40 Pro+ before and it was awful so I sold it last week. This iPhone 12 Pro Max knocks spots off the Huawei, and the camera is amazing. Cheers for this Danny, I’m glad I decided on the Pro Max! 👍🏻😉

All 3 lens get night mode for the 12 pro and also the front camera.
5:38 are you sure you didn't mix them up? Those light artifacts/flares in the sky are usually a thing the 12 series does.
They both have them! I showed in the video. Light flares are not new.

Yup that is disappointing from apple they just changed the design and little bit camera updates i use 120hz when i came to 60hz it looks laggy but if someone is iphone user they did not used any 120hz display so that is fine for them
