The Difference Between a Wolf and a Dog!
In 58 seconds, I try and list the physical differences between a wolf and a dog. Our wolf Honey has a tiny chest, about an inch or two of space between her two front legs and a long straight tail. Her tail looks like it's been dipped in ink, and I point out her caudal mark. She also has a triangle shaped head, golden eyes, and a long nose. Our dog Bob has a rounded head, a short nose, and big brown eyes. He's got a huge chest with lots of room between his front two legs. He's also got a cute curly tail. I also mention that dogs bark and wolves don't. 🐺 ❤️ 🐾

    • What domestication does to a mfer (domesticated animals very commonly get bred into an "infantalist" state where they retain a lot of their younger traits into adulthood, there's even theories that humans sort of ended up doing that to ourselves through natural selection where less aggressive and more cooperative and expressive hominids had a higher rate of survival)

    • Malamutes look a little closer to a wolf than a husky, but the difference is still staggering and these are the two breeds that look closest to wolves when you compare a wolf to any other dog, it's just funny

    • Dogs essentially retain puppy characteristics into adulthood. Foxes that are semi-domesticated also retain juvenile characteristics into adulthood.

    • @@armynurseboyI’ve even seen wild cats like Pumas who were hand raised from cub-hood by humans and it’s the same story with them. (Not always obviously, but it happens A LOT.) House cats are the same. They’re only semi domesticated as a species but they also retain kitten qualities. Meowing is actually a kitten quality that cats continued into adulthood when they learned that humans respond to it just like their mom did.

  • I was once working in a customer's back yard, who supposedly had a mean wolf who was tied up when any of us came in. I was sitting down working in an electrical box, when this big nose pushed under my arm and a big wolf head followed the nose. I sat there working while the wolf had his head under my arm, watching everything I did like he was my supervisor. Needless to say, at least to me, he wasn't mean at all. He was just interested in what was going on in his yard.
