After years of prototypes from Honda and its sister brand Mugen, Big red has finally shown off a bike labelled 2025 CR Electric in Osaka, Japan.
Based on the factory race bike that Trey Canard used in the All Japan championship finale, we take a close up look at the bike you should be able to buy soon.

  • No chance for hydrogen combustion in dirt bikes. Fuel storage is not space efficient. Not to mention the pressures involved. Also the engine power is way down.

  • I'd get it if I could ride it anywhere, road included, my 1 acre between houses, track, local races. See if it truly opens more riding places.

  • What’s going to be interesting with the adoption of EV MX is the education of the technology along the way… Some fundamentally wrong statements / suggestions in this video - hydrogen? sodium? sending children to mines? I would suggest putting the newspapers down and really reading up on the subject, for example like Hydrogen energy density. It’s an absolute non starter for motocross. Also worth exploring NMC vs LFP battery chemistry regarding colbalt “issue”. LFP will be a real game changer for Tesla and the like. Also worth noting last year CATL announced a 500 wh/kg battery. don’t be surprised if you see new Electric MX bikes in 5 years with batteries half the size & weight they are now…

    • Gas bikes are obsolete now, after riding my varg I can tell you that they feel so advanced over a gas bike that I don't think Internal combustion will be a thing in motocross soon . I love the sound of a vete full of 450s too but I much prefer riding a better bike

  • Commenting about needing gas for a generator is the most pathetic jab at electric bikes , people think they are being smart by saying it because they think people buy these bikes to be "green" . Reality is no dirtbikes give a fuck about riding these to avoid gas usage , they ride them for the superior riding experience so find a better , more intelient way to have a jab at them. Oh and your gas bikes all have electric motors in them by the way

  • i hate all this ev stuff because the climate discussion and ev tech is so politicized needlessly and as a hobbyist electrical engineer I see many problems with ev tech in general BUT I loved this video! simple straightforward and overall great production quality, easy to watch, and it was very informative compared to most e bike discussion videos. the issue I have with these new e dirbtikes other than the fact that I think a lot of climate stuff is trash is that they are incapable of doing most riding styles. a gas bike has a clutch and transmission so any gas bike can do enduro, single track, mx, you name it! some are better than others but they are all capable. the problem with bldc motors and ev tech is that contrary to popular belief bldc motors do not make even close to a flat power curve. bldc motors SHOULD make basically zero low end power, so little in fact that they should need a push or a shove somewhat to get moving. current creates heat exponentially and thus in order to maintain decent efficiency and to avoid overheating motors need to limit the peak current draw to a specific limit. now not only can ou calculate from wattage but also from rpm and torque you can see that the horsepower output is next to nothing at low rpms. I realized this would take way to long to explain but the basic idea is that a bldc motor should have very steep 45 degree power increase throughout the first 20-40ish percent of the rev range until it reaches a peak output, then from there are back emf starts to challenge input voltage too much the output very slowly drops off reulting in a slow downward curve until no power is produced. most of these bikes are designed so that the advertised max speed is set so that its power output will be around 3/4 or 4/5 of the max power output. overall a natural power curve is very steep (almost no low end power) for the first 20-40 percent of the rev range, and then mostly flat from then onto max speed. now as you can see this doesnt add up much with e bike videos since you will see people spinning the back tire from a stop or doing hard enduro at slow speeds on their e dirtbike. this is the problem. these bikes intentionally overdraw current by a factor of several times to achieve this power output, fi they didnt then the bike would suck and never compete against gas. this overdraw damages the batteries, esc, motor, and overall is oftentimes les than 5 percent efficient resulting in insane heat output. I will never buy a single speed e bike (unless its for high speed supermoto or motocross) because these brands all lie and make their bikes destroy themselves for power and nobody knows this since very few people know electrical engineering.

    • Your post was literally the most rambling bunch of shit I have ever read . Are are you even trying to say about the power delivery and curve ? And advertised max speed? What even is that? You can look at dyno chars all you like but until you ride one you don't know jack shit . I rode hard enduro on a varg 2 days ago with 9 gas power bikes and it was so easy on the varg I felt sorry for everyone else . Smoothest most linear power delivery that a gas bike is incapable of , no clutch or gears to deal with. I've owned about5 different ktm enduro bikes and they all felt like trash compared to the varg in ever single aspect

    • @@Ozfreerider2504 but they will last far longer than a varg. the point of my word salad was to point out the fact that the stark is exceeding its safe natural limitations and outperforming what it should be able to. the esc, motor, and batteries will wear at extreme rates and the varg will probably need a LOT of replacement parts all the time. they prove that they lie more than i can even fathom so i dont trust a word they say.

      @garbageman3992@garbageman3992Ай бұрын
    • @@Ozfreerider2504 and i just read my own comment and it is not a word salad at all, it is decently smooth and explains very good. getting mad at what i said is not an argument so idk why you would comment at all. but overall my point is just that these e bkes are all damaging themselves in the process of trying ot keep up with gas bikes since bldc motors dont have flat power and in fact have close to zero low rpm power output, yet you could ride your stark varg on hard enduro with no problem, it will do that but not for long at all because you will fry your motor magents, coils, and esc in the process of doing that since bldc motors cannot safely make that power output.

    • @@garbageman3992 exceeding their limitations ? Be more specific you are just talking shit . Do you mean when they are running at 80 hp ? Because nobody rides them at anywhere near what the max power setting is capable of . I ride mine at 45hp . The battery doesn’t even get slightly warm to touch so you tell me how this is such a big problem … and you never offered a follow up to your traction comments so I’d like to hear that from someone whose obviously never ridden one and just theorising . And also your vague statement about needing to replace a “lot of parts “ which parts are you talking about in particular and why will they need replacing ? They have a motor and a battery so please elaborate on what all of these parts are

    • @@garbageman3992 so I’ve done hard enduro on my varg climbing steep hills at varying speeds from walking pace to fast climbs , I’ve ridden motocross on it and emptied a battery on a sand track with large throttle imports and in all situations I can out my hand on the battery and it feels no warmer than touching the frame of the bike , so you tell me how anything you’ve said can be true ? And you say that stark lies but all the claims you’ve just made have no merits at all

  • This will be the death of motocross as a popular spectator sport. It's my prediction that spectators would eventually decline by upto 50%. The whole point of motorsport is to engage with the sound of the engine , the rev's and the gear changes e.t.c. Motocross moving towards electric bikes is an absolute tragedy. If the woke people of this world continue to get their way everything will be banned and we will all be forced to live our sports and hobbies through a playstation !!
