But I’m curious if I should drain & replace trans fluid & filter. I suspect the original owner was on top of that, but I’m not sure. Have changed brakes and rotors and battery nothing else except regular oil changes. All were extended cabs and I will never buy another brand of truck. My 2013 will stay with me until she has to buried. Rides and shifts like she's brand new. I live in Louisiana so I don't have to deal with salt but nothing has been better than those vehicles. I have owned 5 Toyotas total. I also had a '06 and then a '10 Solara. Haven't owned any other type of vehicle since '03 Tundra. Can't say enough about them.

  • Just bought a new 2022 Tundra (purely for a 2022 tax write off and plan to sell come January) It’s a sweet ride and tows the 9k camper with ease. Who knows how they will age but figure it won’t be my problem. Nearly all new trucks are gonna be electric anyway by the time these engines start blowing and average people will just blame it as an ICE issue. Toyota marketing played it perfectly in my opinion.

  • Hey, Scotty. I have a 2007 Tundra. I THINK I had the transmission replaced once( Not positive). I had the transmission rebuilt back in 2015, approx., . It has NOT been a problem since. I personally replaced the serpentine belt years ago, at the same time, I replaced the plugs. This truck has been basically flawless. I drive it, almost every day, with a 10 foot cargo trailer in tow, with many tools onboard. I REALLY LIKE THIS TRUCK BECAUSE, IT HAS NOT LET ME DOWN. IT HAS A VERY SLIGHT OIL LEAK(damn caps lock). turns out, it's only the valve cover gasket. I have not addresses that yet but, will soon( After the tax man reams me for what they think they are entitled to out of MY hard work. Now, I need to replace the Cruise Control Switch. No big deal for me. Thank you, for this video. It speaks from my experience, as well. Nothing else has needed to be done to this truck. I DO need to recover that driver's side seat edge :)

  • Yes the old engines are super reliable but I think this was a smart decision for Toyota still. They have been using basically the same V8 gas hog engine and kept it much longer than most other manufacturers would have. At some point it had to go and good on them for keeping it as long as they did. Hopefully they can get the problems ironed out quick.
