Theorists, maybe Cruella had the right idea. Wait, no! I'm not talking about making coats out of cute, defenseless puppies. I meant that they cost a LOT of money. She tells Roger and Anita that they simply can't afford to keeps them all, so they should sell them to her. Well, THAT is a bad idea but maybe she was onto something. Raising and providing for three humans PLUS 101 Dalmatians must cost a LOT of money. How much? Time for us to to get out our calculators and find out!

There are more worse than there sound.

One set of grooming supplies can be used over multiple dogs, except for like, toothbrushes, maybe?. Even then some people use the same toothbrush for multiple dogs

  • When I saw the title of this video, I wondered how MatPat could possibly justify puppy murder. Then when he started talking about how expensive it would be to own them, I really hoped that wasn't the actual justification because no amount of money it would take to raise all those dogs is reason enough to turn them into coats. Luckily, he didn't end up justifying puppy murder. The answer to "Was Cruella actually wrong" according to MatPat was thankfully "yes." I also guessed that the best option would be to put the puppies up for adoption. Good video.

    • Cruella took some of the puppies from Anita. Wouldn't she have taken some of them from other families too? How about giving them to their rightful owners? That would be the right thing to do. Breeding them would be Cruel too. If Cruella didn't get them from families, then that just shows how many homeless dalmatians there are. Selling them would get themselves $ and those dogs happy. But what about the homeless ones that already exist? Unless your breading an endangered animal, I think it's cruel to breed them.

  • Why would they need 101 beds or grooming supplies? Doesn’t Matt realize that dogs mostly don’t use the beds you give them so a better bet would be having dog houses, and patio furniture that the dogs can lay on that’s easily washed. The brushes can be used for more than one dog, the dogs can also be microchipped meaning they don’t need dog tags. You can use water troughs and refill them and wash them out with a hose instead of fancy fountains that use electricity. Get all the dogs spayed or neutered, which some organizations will offer low priced or even for free. If they turn their plantation into a non-profit for rescuing dalmatians then they can get discounts on food, flea and tick meds, ask for donations, etc. Why wouldn’t you have a personal vet if you’ve got 101 dogs? Wouldn’t it make more sense to have a staff of people 24/7 caring for them and cleaning up after them? You could get many people to volunteer to help so dog walking, feeding, watering, cleaning bowls and surfaces, dog bathing, playing with and treat giving could all be done by unpaid labor who need community service hours for a myriad of reasons (graduation, scholarships, probation, religious, etc)

    • @Ladon Beats Only 15 of the puppies were originally from the family. The rest of the 99 pups were literal rescues since they were rescued from an illegal fur operation so turning everything into a pet rescue would be the realistic course of events and honestly is basically what they did just using money from media sales of the incident instead of donations.

  • In the book, Anita and Roger actually buy Cruella's house in the country (the house where the puppies were imprisoned) because 1) it already had a huge wall, 2) it already had kennels, and 3) it was dirt cheap because Cruella had to flee the country due to being ruined financially by the dalmatians destroying all her furs as suggested by the abused cat. So there you go, Mat Pat: they were able to afford the house not only because Roger was a math wiz, but because of the abused cat's revenge on her nasty mistress.

They’re gonna sell it for it’s worth. So he isn’t entirely wrong that it’d cost a pretty penny plus they likely had to do some remodeling which would fill in the rest missing from the total. Not to mention if ruined financially you’d want more money, selling cheap makes no sense. If they’re stupid enough to care for 101 dogs they’re dumb enough to buy the house at full price.

  • Unfun fact: due to the movies a lot of people went and adopted Dalmatians, found they were hard to maintain, and abandoned them. It makes sense for a little kid to be enthused for a dog, but seriously, if you as a parent don't know what it takes to take care of A dog, much less a dalmatian or other high upkeep dog, DON'T. Its like taking care of a person whose mind is stunted at 3-4 year old child, but its a dog and therefore not a felony to abandon when the going gets tough, its just a moral quandary. Tldr: don't adopt dogs unless you're accepting you're essentially raising a child with special needs.

When someones asks something they don't know, you can "be in the same boat" "on the same page" by pointing out that "I don't know either"

    • @@bartistclord1916, you are basing that knowledge on the viewers perspective as a movie, not Anita's perspective as a character IN the movie bound by story limitations. Easy question for anyone who pays attention to story flow: How does Anita know what Cruella intends without prior knowledge? She doesn't know what Cruella does behind the scenes of the business. In the live motion version, furs are still legal and Cruella has NOT been convicted of any misdeeds or illegal actions, only controversial clothing lines as far as the story's public is concerned. Anita, AS A STORY CHARACTER, has nothing to go on nor logical reaction to the contrary until AFTER seeing Cruella's manic reactions, especially considering that she was one of Cruella's top designers who, while attempting to steer Cruella toward fur alternatives, still continued to work for her until long after. Something else to keep in mind: when you get asked about something you care about, unless you are that badly distrusting of others, you are more than likely going to talk about said thing openly without much hesitation until you realize afterward that you might have said too much, not during. Anita was happy to talk about her growing family. Wouldn't you be? She only realized the mistake AFTER Cruella kept going strictly into the fur discussion. Again, you need to think about these things in better context instead of acting like all situations are the same. People are different, situations are different, results are different. Anita was not a mistake in her behavior, and that moment in the movie is incredibly realistic when you actually pay attention.

    • And they could use their savings to spay and neuter lol. But I guess that would cut into the mad profits of selling purebred Dalmatians. But then again, if you saturate the market then prices will crash so they should spay/neuter most of them if they want to keep breeding. But like... don’t because it’s already such a fragile breed. Unpopular opinions?

    • Honestly, if they were turning it into a business like suggested at the end of the video, they could probably actually hire a vet to live on/near that ranch and specifically take care of the dalmatians and other various animals.

      @The_Kaichu@The_Kaichu3 жыл бұрын
    • Also, they could buy food in bulk, possibly directly from a manufacturer. The insurance costs might go up or down depending on a higher rate for running a business vs "bundling". Chances are pretty good any savings would be lost to the home owner's insurance going through the roof.

  • In the original book, they actually purchased Cruella's house after she went broke from the dogs (and Cruella's spiteful cat) ruined her fur coat collection (most of which hadn't been paid for yet). Yep, they painted it in dalamtion spot pattern after buying it, almost like one giant bleep you to her. Since she was at a point of desperation, they were able to get it for a remarkably cheap value. So, there goes the first major price issue.

  • Well a few things to consider about this. You can buy non-commercial bulk food and supplies like shelters get. As a Rescue/sanctuary they are probably qualified for government loans and assistance and tax write offs and they can probably triple dip into charity to help run the place. Plus if they are running a plantation and can screen and sell the famous pure-bred pups yeah, they could turn a profit off the dalmatians and run a sanctuary/rescue/farm easy with little fuss or muss. They would also probably hire their own vet crew for health and wellness rather than use a local one, and with it being a rescue they could probably get volunteers over employees as charity works look good on the resume.
