How to fix a floor jack that won't stay up. What to do if your floor jack isn't working. Floor jack that won't stay up can lead to serious injury or WORSE! ALWAYS use jack stands. The jack in this video is a Duralast from Auto Zone, but this method to purge air should work on most brands.
At about 20 seconds in I started thinking I might have accidentally clicked on a video for ED issues.
Gray hairs aside, I’m a bit on the immature side much of the time. Thank you for watching, Pumpkinhead. I hope yours stays up.
😂😂😂😂😂😂

Great info, plus fast and easy nice that you got to the point quickly. No life story....
Thanks, Frog! I’m trying to work on my penchant for verbosity.
I had this exact problem with a similar duralast jack... this fixed it, however... mine has a screw on the fill port that has to be opened and then closed.
After hitting 50 I started to have the same problem keeping it up. wham it hit me two Popsicle stick's and electrical tape make a splint works great ! no more extra pumping
🤦♂️ Lol! Better than the 💉.
Damn, I thought I had my cure when I saw the title to this video, wrong video for me.
Ha ha ha. Nice shot.
Great i saved my jack which i wanted to trow …Thank you
Thanks for watching, Ivan! Glad you didn’t have to throw your jack away.
Great video :) There is a little orange cap that says “Do not adjust” What does this screw underneath do? Seems like it’s also a valve of some sort
I don’t have the jack nearby, but going off memory, I believe it is for the speed or something like an overload adjustment screw. Since I’m less than a mechanical expert, I would not adjust it, especially with the clear warning “Do Not Adjust.”
It's to not overload the other parts and avoid sudden failure av some other part because the hydraulic system is much stronger than the metal parts, according to another video. So the screw underneath is set to let pressure out at the correct weight (2 tons or something else).
What if this doesn’t fix my jack? Does it mean it’s junk I’ve flushed the oil out twice and tried what you said a few times with no luck
Hmm. There’s a seal or 2 inside somewhere that may fail due to age. But I don’t know for sure. If I can find a video covering that, I’ll post a link.
Just picked up a used jack. Wont stay up. I did an oil change on it. And bled. It works a bit better but still won’t stay up. I saw one guy bleeding with the oil cap off. Maybe that will work.
If you do that and it still doesn’t fix it, it could be the seals or O rings. Good luck and let us know if you get it fixed, Bill.
Hey buddy, did you fix it? I have the same problem it rise, but slowly comes down under pressure
The issue isn't air. It's a leaking check valve.
Sounds about right.
Lmao the into is spicy
It’s caliente?
It helps to be good and stiff
You know it, Mickleblade.
Didn't fix mine. What can check next?
I’m not sure, darko. Maybe see if you can find some info about the main pressure seal (I don’t know the actual name) or fluid. That would be my guess for a next step.
Thought I was watching a Viagra advertisement
But the question is - does your equipment rise to the occasion and can it maintain the upward momentum? Thanks for watching, A.Y.!
Hard time keeping what up hahaha😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It can be embarrassing at times.
@@ithinkaboutthings9052no worries, gotta have a little fun here and there
I dont get it, that screw driver is way too big for that little hole, how in the world did u bleed it? I dont understand
Just used the corner of the screwdriver blade to depress the little rubber valve thing. You just need something to fit enough to release the pressure without damaging the rubber.
@@ithinkaboutthings9052 Ill try, thank u!
NO 9/10 its actually a failure from something inside the jack, i have floor jack and its never leaked and its full and it randomly one day dropped like a rock as i changed position on a car, that was it dead, nothing could bring it back, i disassembled and re assembled it and still nothing
Did you replace the seal?
@@ithinkaboutthings9052 is it possible to replace the seal inside the main compression chamber? I've tried all the bleeding techniques but its not working.
@@Anwarboy786 It’s probably possible to change a seal. You might check the fluid level before trying to get to the seal. If the jack is old or has been in a garage or shed that gets really hot or really cold, I could see that drying the seal, assuming it’s made of rubber. Just be careful and ALWAYS use jack stands.
@@ithinkaboutthings9052 yes it was stored in a shed which has seen cold winter and a hot hot summer already too. First think I did was try bleeding normally, that didn't work so next I tried topping up the oil as it looked low, surprisingly took a lot of oil, but still that didn't work. Could I have overfilled. Now I was trying to bleed some more but through the oil fill cap. I.e. pump it up, with valve closed then pinch the oil fill cap to let air out. Sir does get forced out then after oil, does that mean it's too full? Seems to have made it a little firmer can at least hold weight without dropping immediately, but it's still sagging down. I tried the bleeding proceedings like 4 times and same situation.
@@Anwarboy786 I would recommend you look at the owner’s manual or instructions . If you don’t have the manual, I bet it is probably online somewhere. You could try to contact the manufacturer and explain the problem. I don’t know a lot about the mechanical fixes, only the basics. Have you searched KZhead for videos about the specific model? Let me know if you find some better information, Anwar.
