Late Night with Seth Meyers

James Spader is the Blacklist. He's made the blacklist worth watching. He's phenomenal.
Yeah, I expected him to walk on stage in a 3 piece suit and a fedora! I will really miss that show - it's one of the best ever in my opinion.
Really phenomenal!! I can't believe I watched the whole 9 seasons!
Facts
James walks on at his own pace, then immediately tells a Reddington style story.
Its marvelous
Or was it actually Reddington walking out in the style of James?
@@bryan9931 With the way the Blacklist has gone regarding Red's background, it wouldn't surprise me that was the finale.
I was just thinking "could they have picked a better person to play Red?" This guy is phenomenal.
@@themanman4391 There's probably others that could have played the role but not in the way that Spader does it. He made the role his, rather than just playing the character. Which is a big part of it's appeal to many, myself included.
He just spent 7 minutes stretching out a story and he held the audience in the palm of his hand the entire time. I could watch an entire episode of this show dedicated to interviewing this man.
And that’s the cut down version
I hated every second of it, if i could of i would have fast forwarded it. Truly frustrating and annoying, just fucking say it already
Couldn't agree more!
Then watch the Blacklist. His storytelling is the only reason it made it 200 ep
So could I I could sit and watch and listen to him for hours
The blacklist is definitely his best work...nobody else could pull it off like him that role was made for him...great actor and he makes it look naturally easy
For sure ❤
Nope, Alan Shore in Boston Legal is his best work. But he is great too in The Black Legal
Definitely Alan Shore! Red is a close second
I AGREE 💯
Am interesting fact about the show, is that, James Spader wasn't even chosen at first to be in The Blacklist, so the show wasn't made for him. But James Spader defined The Blacklist and it seemed to be that the show was made for him. 👍🏻
He talks the same way in Blacklist episodes the way he talks in real life. I am amazed the way he sets his speech to express anything at all that is asked to him. Love you James Spader. You're true Pinky.
I think he should do a one man show where he just comes out and talks about whatever. He's such a natural storyteller and is always engaging with the audience. Give him two hours and just let him go. I would gladly pay to watch that.
PERFECT for a 1 man podcast like Bill Burr
He needs to be invited to roasts. He could do so well coming up with the most well delivered insults
James Spader is by far my favorite late night show guest. And I am so glad that Seth just lets him talk. Perfect. Just perfect.
Glad someone likes him
How glad exactly,@@claytonbrown7120? Do go on.
I don't really know or care who James Spader is but the story about the gifts they give to each other in Hollywood is emblematic of the greed and ignorance and wasteful spending in a fcked up society. Rich people giving other rich people fancy gifts is just ridiculous and obscene. Srsly who wants to listen to this idiot blather on about his dumbass gifts from dumbass Hollywood producers?
@@pgknippel no one here gives a fck what you think 🤔
@@oneirishpoet Apparently you do, and a great deal! #weirdboner
I will miss Raymond Reddington 😢 well done James one greatest actor
What is that a spoiler I'm in England we are behind you if if it's true bad news you've rui
James Spader might be my favorite actor. I love hearing him speak. He’s so captivating
James Spader has some of the best comedic timing for any actor I've ever seen in interviews.
He’s a great storyteller. I could listen to him talk for hours.
I.agree
@@somchithackharath2141 I tell people simply that I watch the Blacklist to hear this man speak.... OMG it is always such an uplifting experience
James has such a great delivery without saying much. Makes you hang on to every word waiting for the close of his anesdote.
Met James on the set of White Palace and talked to him about Jack's Back 1988, one of my favorite movies, he was so nice and cool and down to earth. He talked to us for like 30-45 minutes and did an autograph and picture. Salt of the earth, amazing actor and such an amazing voice!
We've all been lucky to see him play Raymond Reddington. What a legend!!
James is an absolute treasure. Protect him at all costs. If needed, throw Flaco at the person trying to harm James.
lol
😂😂😂
THIS is how you interview a guest. You don't interrupt or try to one-up them (I'm talking to you Fallon!). Just let run and step in if they start to drift or want to banter.
yeah i hope seth takes over one of the big shows eventually
Same with Stephen Colbert interview with him, talking over as James was speaking .
I wish for a coffee and a conversation with this man.. he really is a treasure of a gentleman
This man has the most divine voice , I could listen to it forever , great actor, great wit always a bonus too 😉
@susanrea5445 He does have an amazing voice and his delivery is impeccable! It's funny, as a little side note, I can only ever hear Ultron from the Avengers movie when he speaks, haha. I had never seen anything with him in it until after watching Avengers Age of Ultron (and for proper context I'm early 30's so I didn't watch many 80's/90's movies growing up as a kid). So I mostly watched more family friendly films from early periods and of course cartoons. But...I loved his voice after that film, looked him up, and the rest is history. One of my favorite 80's actors to date! I'd almost describe him as "American Posh" lol as he is very British in his tonality and how proper he speaks. I've also noticed he has an almost imperceptible lisp when he says certain words, and it's kind of fun waiting for it as he tells a story. The best part is when he uses his indignant tone and delivers his punch lines. Masterful crowd work indeed!
OMG, James Spader is a genius. He strung out the story for so long, I was dying every time he dodged into an another anecdote! LOL
Jackal Spader
I love James Spader and always will going to miss the Blacklist sooo much🍎🪐♾💯♥️♥️♥️♥️
Not only has the great James Spader only ever told one story, but he's also never told the same story twice!! He should be a weekly guest - so entertaining!!
That was efffing amazing Seth - James Spader is the ULTIMATE JACKEL giving us the gifts we didnt know we needed while running Seth through a range of emotions😂😆
And here we can observe a rare behavioural idiosyncracy of the jackal species. Bold and possessed with reckless abandon, the jackal makes a typo. Nay, shouts out the typo in what in the internet kingdom is known as 'all caps'. Is this an innocent accident? Have their own excitement gotten the better of them? Or is this a clever strategy to lure a prey with the irresistible trap of a misspelled word? And who do they plan on luring? A fellow jackal? Or, perhaps, even one of the unlucky writers of the Seth Meyers show who toil day and night scrolling through the deadly quagmire of KZhead comments? We might never found out but here we are, setting on to watch and wait.

James is the heir of Jack Benny. The pause that causes howls of laughter.
Most nominated actor in terms of awards He deserved an Emmy Award more than anyone else in the role of Raymond
He probably deserved it more as Alan Shore.
They better tighten up their writing if they're ever going to do it. This season is his last chance! He should have received one when he was locked in the vault saving Ressler's life in season 1 Man that was some great writing back then!
@@wendyc1902 Yes, and he deserved it for Season 6. His performance was legendary in his trial, but I do not think yet because few appeared in the episodes, and the writer was changed.
So glad he will be freed up. Hope another amazing role makes it’s way towards him..
Oh my God! This guy, James Spader is an enigma! His portrayal of Raymond 'Red' Reddington is so incredibly fantastic, i just couldn't get enough of him. From his days in Boston Legal, i grew to love this guy. I wish him long life , good health and great happiness. Thanks for the unrivaled entertainment you give us.
Coming this summer, a new series following the adventures of Flacco the Owl as he navigates the wilds of Central Park voiced by James Spader. I'd watch that.
Same
YES
Quit holding out on us Seth. Give us the full unedited glory that it was in all it’s one story ramblings. I love it when you have James Spader on! He’s on a level all his own.
Absolutely the best guest he ever has on this show!!! I would give up a couple of my toes to have drinks and dinner with James Spader and just listen to him talk.
james spader has become my favourite actor after watching the blacklist! a phenomenal story teller, i could listen to him all day! thanks for not interrupting and letting him talk!
Such great actor and a great person. When Raymond Reddington in rage but totally calm just gives me goosebumps. The look he get in his eyes... Incredible!! The Blacklist is one of the best shows on television.
I have been a fan of James since "Sex, Lies and Videotape", and really fell in love with him in "The Practice". I was so glad to see his character reappear in "Boston Legal"...he's wonderful! Please have him back as often as possible for yet another singular story! 😍❤
Sex Lies and Videotape was awesome 😎
I've recently started rewatching Boston Legal. It's great
SECRETARY
If you can find it, he made a wonderful obscure movie called _Critical Care_ with Kyra Sedgwick, Albert Brooks, Anne Bancroft, and more. Directed by Sidney Lumet. Highly recommended.
Less Than Zero...I was hooked...he was such a dick!!!
Spader is a natural 👌
I loved him as Hanky in the Seinfeld episode,"The Apology!,"
He is 63 and speaking with joy feelings! Incredible, we really needs to know more about he’s personal life! Just incredible
I literally love this guy… great actor, cool character, excellent storyteller…
We need a James Spader podcast or an option to narrate books. His timing is impeccable, the greatest storyteller of our generation. Love you Pinky
Agree
Yesss or take over Morgan Freeman’s job of coming in and explaining everything just when you need it😂
@@LindsayP2k I second this motion! LOL
He has narrated books.
@@TaushaTW best news of the day. I appreciate you, 🙏
Best guest Seth ever has, and clearly one of his favorites. I want to see James and Chrisitne Baranski in the same episode
This man is an amazing actor.
Oh I just love James Spader!
Blacklist is one of my fav shows ever, I'm currently rewatching it from season 1 right through to season 10 for the second time, it never gets old, James Spader just makes the show great he really does.
.💯🇬🇧🇯🇲👍
Love James, actor extraordinaire‼️❤
Absolutely love him.. My favorite actor,no one else compares!
He is the most Talented actor I've Ever seen in my life!!! His voice. Oh my God
Just one of my all-time favorite guests, doing his completely typical, meandering storytelling, full of asides and pregnant pauses, and being utterly charming. I'm *so* glad you always just let him do his thing, Seth. BTW, the McShane interview was also terrific. Really great show, all around.
He's such a funny storyteller, his way of delivering lines is perfect and always intriguing. Even when he is saying something normal like everyday stuff he never sounds boring.
BOSTON LEGAL!!!! BEST SHOW EVER!!!!! I really love this show - I watch all seasons at least once a year. the chemistry between Shatner and Spader is amazing and the sarkasm.... soooo great! 🙂
Agreed! Lock and load!!!
Yes for me Boston and HBO's Six Feet Under. I could watch forever and not get bored.

THE BEEEEEEST!!!! I cried laughing!!! Love this man!!! And Seth knows to let him do his magic 🙌🙌
He is just brilliant. I could sit and listen to him telling a story about a dead ant😂😂 There is no other like him. I bet whe he finished THE BLACKLIST that he said, Next! Hats off to him.
Just love the personality and the way he conversates overall. What a great man. Sad to see Blacklist go, by far my favorite tv shows ever watched. Thank you James.
He was the best in Boston Legal!! As coments say one story but enthralled, good job.
I just enjoy his interviews immensely. I especially loved when he went on Fallon and was given a jazz record. The look of sincere gratitude on his face…I just wanted to bottle that energy. He needs a podcast or something!
I live in Trinidad in the west indies (Caribbean) and I am angry that this show 'The Blacklist' came to an end, truly a multi ethnic show with great acting. I will miss it.
Absolutely love James Spader. Finished a 5 season marathon of Boston Legal Yesterday, watched the 3 new episodes of Season 10 today The man is an international treasure
When Seth introduced James he didn't expect to receive a correction in real time.
This actor is incredible...one of the best
Never get enough of watching Jimmy. Got that from another interview. Mr. Spader, where you be these days? You coming back anytime soon? No matter...White Palace one of my faves. James, James, James... Top 5 my main mens all day long. ❤🙏
I am in love with this man ❤ just love him
James Spader is the Blacklist period. I love you ❤ It was a great crew Cooper, Dembe, Aram, Gerby, Siya, Hedy, Agnes, Ressler, Glen, etc. very great actors. There will never be a show as great as the Blacklist.😢
I can’t express how much I love him. He is an exceptional outstanding actor. Especially in black list. Every story he said every expression was altogether perfect. He was long winded and never boring. It like he can go on forever and I won’t get tired
Spader is a jackal!!! ❤
Didn’t he kind of tell 2 stories? He talked about seeing the owl and then told the mousepad story. Fantastic interview. I could watch him all day!
Technically yes. But, I doubt he would have mentioned it if Seth hadn’t spilled the walkover confessional. 😂
The story about Flaco began _before_ he sat down, though, so does it really count?
Jackal alert.
Hello
James was awesome in Stargate, he helped entertain me before the internet era! My childhood was brighter thanks to him and Kurt. Thank you for your service sir! 🔥💯🔥
I loved loved Daniel and off course Stargate one of my favorite movie I’ll watched every time I come across on any platform
I love him so much, he really does make The Blacklist…we’re re-watching the series…again!
I love James Spader. In the nicest way possible, I feel like he's slowly transforming into his Boston Legal counterpart, Danny Crane.
In a weird way, that makes sense! Let's hope he's spared the mad cow disease, though ;)
James Spader is incredibly talented with skill of a far reaching range. He's a genuine and caring person. That's the cherry on top everytime I watch him. Best wishes James.❤🎼
I love how Seth Meyers just lets him talk! Other talk show hosts may be tempted to fill those pregnant silences with quips and questions. But he lets the silence build until Spader is ready. Just perfect.
I adore James Spader he's fantastic actor and Blacklist I love ❤️
Thank you ❤
How are you doing
love, LOVE, *LOVE* me some James Spader 😍🤩😍
You just have to love this guy and he’s stories …
from "when i was to 13 years old "to "im 63 years old now" this guy's opening discussion are phenomenal xD i can listen to him for hours
James spader is such a cool guy and such an underrated actor in my opinion
I cried so hard when he died in the blacklist. That last moments of his life was so sad, all alone, nobody by his side😢 died all alone😔
I love how James Spader did a correction on the main show as the second jackal Guest
Mr. Spader is my favourite actor. His storytelling is absolutely unique. I could listen to him forever !
Love james Spader
He's like a human Winnie The Pooh.
James Spader is one of those actors who I've always been fascinated with - from the early days when he played alongside heart-throb types. Then I saw him in a film about a mannequin that came to life and that's when I knew he'd decided to go down a far more interesting route in his acting career. I always look forward to hearing about his next venture.
He's such great actor.
Love love love him! We need more of Mr. Spader!
Always a great story from James. Fun and funny conversation as always Seth. Late Night is Tops
James Spader is a national treasure. We should be charging a lot of moneeees to see him on tv. 😮🙂
Can't wait for the animal flubs update with James Spader in the intro
Outstanding performance. Truly love Raymond Reddington ❤
I have loved his work since the 80s
He plays good, he plays bad and everything in between! Fantastic. I agree to your and all the other praises here wholeheartedly.
The Amazing James Spader
The Amazing Spaderman
The amazing...long...awkward pause and the slow build up with all the questions. Just amazing the way he spins a story 🤣
I didn't realise he was so funny! Love his personality! ❤
This guy is Jst interviewing Reddington on national tv🤯
He IS Reddington. I watch the show simply for him.
I just watched the final episode of the final season. Took me 2 years to watch all 10 seasons because I'm always in between shows and movies. Sad to see the Blacklist come to an end but it was down right my favorite show. Now I know who I'll call for help when im in a sticky situation. Raymond Redington.
Spader is so cool
His storys from RL and in tv show is just smooth and something else, love it, wish I could be more like him❤❤😅😅
Imagine hanging out with both James Spader and Christopher Walken at the same time. Just letting them chill with cigars, brandy and coffee…hearing them just telling stories
This made me laugh-cry. Almost made me want to start watching the Blacklist again lol
He is amazing Actor, Love the way he SPeak and Deliver the Dialouges, he is amazing Actor :) he knows how grab his attention of Audience :)
I've had a crush on James Spader for a very long time - and now, I... I think it might actually be *more* than just a crush...
James basically carried The Blacklist. No disrespect to the other actors, but without James Spader's enigmatic performance it's just a bunch of ridiculously convoluted nonsense that probably wouldn't have made it past its second season.
I'm 63 also (for 2 more days) and have recently been enamored of the owls in my front yard!🦉❤️
James Spader...you ROCK dude!
Love him, best actor ever
