The Logitech MX Master 3 is one of our long-standing recommendations for one of the best work mice. If you've looked into buying one, you may have noticed two previous generations: the Logitech MX Master 2S and the original Logitech MX Master, both of which are still widely available. Both previous versions are also typically available for a fraction of the cost. In this video, we'll be comparing the three mice from this lineup and see which one you should buy.

  • I had the MX Master 2 and now die MX Master 3. With both, I am completely happy and they work perfect. The only thing what was sometimes a little bit bad was the PC software from Logitech (Options) sometimes the function assignments to the buttons is changed and I have to start Logitech Options again.

  • I’ve been using an original MX Master since about 2017 with no complaints yet. The one thing I’m surprised this video doesn’t mention about these mice is the thumb button. If you press your thumb downwards on the “thumb support” part of the mouse, it’s another button that can be used to switch apps or screens or even be mapped to a keyboard press. I mapped mine to the enter key and find it EXTREMELY useful.

    • Hey Mitchell, Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. You're absolutely right that this mouse has a customizable button in the thumb rest that allows you to program different gesture-based commands. This definitely could have have been mentioned in the video, as we do mention it in the full review on our website. So, I'll pass this along to our team. Thanks for the feedback!

    • I have also been using the original version since 2015 or 2016, but a year ago the material on the thumb rest/gesture button began to crack. Now I have a 5×10 mm hole and a long crack on the surface. (It still works, though.)

  • I've had 3 high end Logitech mice develop clicking problems (where a single click can sometimes give you 2). Caused by cheap microswitches that they switched to a few years ago, which wear out faster and can get mushy. This is something you should examine and include in your reviews.

  • Had an original mx master for years until I wore out the scroll wheel. bought a MX m 3 and I hate it. My hand hangs off the mouse and doesn't stay on it like the old one, my whole pinky dragged on the mouse pad. That combined with the side scroll being useless going straight from near zero movement to ALL the movement in one step of the adjuster. Exchanged the 3 for a g502 and I've been pretty happy with it so far.

  • EXellent review , i can't find this info : when we customise buttons on mouse , do the app need to be running in back ground or are those ste up stored in mouse ? becuase the app seems intrusive like crazy at windows start (pro audio application here , need the less crap in back ground running)

    • All models in the Logitech MX Master lineup (including the most recent Logitech MX Master 3S) lack onboard memory. This means there isn't a way to save settings on the mouse itself, and you need to have the software running in the background to use customized buttons. Sorry about that!

  • Hey RTINGS, Got here after searching for difference between mx master 2s and the mx master 2s advanced.. Can't seem to find this anywhere. Amazon lists it as 2017 and 2022 versions.

    @disgusting1422@disgusting1422 Жыл бұрын
    • From what we know and all that's available online, there aren't any 'variants' of the MX Master 2S. The term 'advanced wireless mouse' was used as a tagline in some of their packaging and advertisement, and it looks like they've just included it in this listing. As far as a difference between 2017 and 2022 models, the MX Master 2S as a whole is discontinued at this point, and while it's possible there are minor manufacturing differences between models produced in both these years, they were never made official, and they should be extremely minor. TLDR: It's a regular MX Master 2S, and there shouldn't be any significant differences between a 2017 or 2022 model. Hopefully this helps!

  • I have gone from MX Master 3 to Corsair Dark Core RGB Pro. There is one bug in the MX series that Logitech simply refuses to fix. I have had three tickets open with them, and with Apple. They keep pointing fingers at each other. Since Logitech does not produce a usb-c dongle and is refusing to fix their bluetooth issues with MacOS I am unfortunately done with it and the brand. The bug is when I (or any user) wants to disable the trackpad on the MacBook the only mouse not working for this standard function is the Logitech MX Master 3. Listen, I love the touch and feel, and that function described works fine in Windows. Since any other mouse works properly with this function it has been proven and documented in tickets and emails. The point you mention is indeed that the MX Master 3 for Mac does not have a unifying receiver. It only connects through bluetooth and that functionality is not working properly, hence.... Test it out for yourself.

  • Ah Ha! Mix Master Mac... I wasn't aware this even existed. My old MX Master acts crazy jittery if I plug in a USB-A hub so it makes sense that the Mac N' Mix Master uses only Bluetooth 🥶 I like how the newer models got rid of the pointy nose. That point can hang up on random items near your mousepad. Probably easier to highlight and drag with the shorter buttons as well. Seems like I could save $30 by getting a 3S ...unless the MX Mac version does something that I may have missed.🤔

  • Why keep on mentioning CPI compared to a gaming mouse? and why is it unfortunate when THIS IS NOT A GAMING MOUSE!

    @GrimYak@GrimYak3 ай бұрын
  • A truly over-rated mouse in my opinion! It has premium build quality worthy of its price, and it looks fancy with lots of good/extra features. But it has some inate flaws that I just can't look past! Firstly, there's the weight. It's HEAVY, and that's important for anyone that actually uses their mouse for "mouse movements" a lot. Together with the shape, this actually gave me real/proper wrist pain from using. I did CAD-work/modelling and generel computer use for about 8+ hours a day for an extended period, and it didn't end well. I had to buy a different mouse just to relieve it. I suspect it was both down to the weight and the shape. Because the shape, which everyone hails for being so ergonomic, actually is not at all in my experience. It falls into a satisfying palm grip and gives a good first impression for sure. But the back end is way to tall and steep, which gives an angle to the wrist that can lead to discomfort with extended use. A classic ergo shape (like the one found on many right hand mice including Zowie EC2, Glorious Model D and Razer Deathadder V3 among others) will also provide that satisfying palm grip, but in a more natural, relaxed way. And said mice also weight less than half. I'd take less buttons and a normal scroll wheel for that superiority in ergonomics any day. Due to the weight and average/un-impressive sensor, it's just not that good a pointing tool. It isn't great as its main function. It's like a car, that has lots of functions and is built very well, but is both un-sporty/un-precise to drive, as well as also at the same time being uncomfortable to sit in with extensive use. Then there's the coating. Myself and numerous Reddit users have gotten the issue of it getting semi-permanently sticky. I.e. the material itself goes through an actual change as it interacts with skin oils/sweat, where it very quickly becomes annoyingly sticky to the hand. And it can't be remedied/wiped off actually! This is simply bad material design by Logitech. On the positive side, all the buttons are of great quality feel, as one should expect (which isn't the case for all other highly priced mice actually, thus I appreciate it being solid on that front). Battery life also being great. The scroll wheel obviously being the stand out features. However, it's not all great regarding that. While it gives you free-spin, it also isn't capable of doing quick precise scrolls (at least not at all well if in quick succesion). If I want to flick scroll a precise length, I can easily do that with predictability and decent precision with a good normal scroll wheel. Not with this though. It's unpredictable in that way. But that's the trade-off for free-spin, which also has its benefits. As for the side-scroll wheel, it's quite nice. One gets "very used to it" for sure. And while using panning tools in apps, with a lighter, more precise mouse, is actually a better solution, not all apps have that. Similarly shift + scroll could be an equally good option, but it just doesn't work in lots and lots of apps. So the side-scroll is quite practical. The added features in the gestures thumb button, I didn't end up using at all, because it's not ergonomic to reach for it often, and I have left-hand keyboard binds for most of the things I would want to assign to those buttons anyways. All in all, I would only recommend this if you don't do intensive mouse-work (as in, panning, pointing, and lots of large movements) for extended periods. For a casual office mouse, it's okay. But I'd highly recommend anyone to consider a lighter, more precise and simpler right handed ergo-shaped mouse. I'm using a SteelSeries Prime Wireless Myself. Would probably go for that or a Razer DaV3 at the moment. It's going to be so much more precise, have an actually more ergonomic shape, and be 2/5 the weight of this.
