    • Specific threats include wiping out the Russian Black Sea fleet. This would, of course, mean destroying Sevastopol, Russia's navy base in Crimea. Completely destroying that would render Crimea useless to Russia... and that's one way to end this problem. I'd dismiss Putin's nuclear threat with "only an idiot would do that" but then I said the same thing about invading Ukraine, and here we are. The only consolation is that Putin is saying he's not bluffing, and recent history shows that man always lies. I'd be more concerned if he was swearing up and down that he'd never use nuclear weapons first.

  • As a “brainwashed” citizen of Russia I just want to remind - there is always an opposite point of view. The regime is more stable than you think, and for the majority of Russians this war is the existential challenge. So there could be only one solution - diplomacy and negotiations. Putin once said “Why do we need a world if Russia is not in it?”. Now I think that was not one of his bad jokes.

    • Петр Лаврентьев But don't you agree this is complete exaggeration? It's like drama from a suicidal teenager with an otherwise potentially great future. Sure life is tough and competition is fierce, but nobody is about to erase Russia from the map. Seems more like the desperate attempts by a corrupt government to remain legitimate and relevant in the eyes of the population. Mind you, there is plenty of corruption around the world as well. And the world has no particular hatred for Russian people, maybe only for those who condone, encourage, or perpetrate war crimes... similar to what the world thinks of Nazis, Mussolini's fascists, the Khmer Rouge, the KKK, terrorists, and so on...

    • The Russian budget now receives 2 times more money than last year. Russia now has a huge budget surplus, that is, income is more than planned expenses. Now, of course, the military budget will be increased, but this does not worsen the economy in any way. Inflation is minimal now, the ruble exchange rate is higher than a year ago. If we take military losses, they are certainly high, for 7 months of the war, Russia lost 6 thousand soldiers killed, but for example, Ukraine lost 61 thousand soldiers killed during the same time, plus more than a thousand foreign mercenaries killed, mostly EU and US citizens.

The Iraq war is said to have resulted in 1 million deaths the difference is russia have weapons of mass destruction A message to the future generations never make russia feel threatened the difference between "looking dangerous" and "being dangerous".Russia describes military doctrine as defensive military doctrine. Russia has the most nuclear weapons of any country, at 6,257. Of these, 1,458 are active, meaning they are already deployed, 3,039 are available (can be deployed if needed) and 1,760 are retired (out of use and awaiting dismantlement How do Russian nuclear weapons compare to the rest of the world? Who have killed more people in last two decades ? America or Russia how many people have been killed and wounded in Iraq since the 2003 United States invasion. However, we know that between 184,382 and 207,156 civilians have died from direct war related violence caused by the U.S., its allies, the Iraqi military and police, and opposition forces from the time of the invasion through October 2019. The violent deaths of Iraqi civilians have occurred through aerial bombing, shelling, gunshots, suicide attacks, and fires started by bombing. Many civilians have also been injured. Because not all war-related deaths have been recorded accurately by the Iraqi government and the U.S.-led coalition, the numbers are likely much higher. Several estimates based on randomly selected household surveys place the total death count among Iraqis in the hundreds of thousands. Several times as many Iraqi civilians may have died as an indirect result of the war, due to damage to the systems that provide food, health care and clean drinking water, and as a result, illness, infectious diseases, and malnutrition that could otherwise have been avoided or treated. The war has compounded the ill effects of decades of harmful U.S. policy actions towards Iraq since the 1960s, including economic sanctions in the 1990s that were devastating for Iraqis. Despite more than $100 billion committed to aiding and reconstructing Iraq, many parts of the country still suffer from lack of access to clean drinking water and housing.
