ISU short program scoring manipulation is very clear here. Yuna Kim had a supreme quality 3Lz3T and a supreme step sequence that deserves level 4 but had a TES *lower than* Adelina Sotnikova's wobbly 3T3T and sloppy level 3 step sequence. THIS IS A CRIME. I very much disapprove that Yuna was given less total GOE compared to Adelina in the short program. How their PCS was that close was also puzzling.

@@vikis9304 LMAO NYTimes article was fabricated and photoshoped. It has been widely debunked. None of those people were professionals. The author hasn't even read the IJS regulations before. The author had zero knowledge of the implementation of GOE's, PCS, and evaluation of landings (and base value reduction). The fact that you use NYtimes article about Sochi Ladies event as "proof" tells me that you have ZERO knowledge in how figure skating is judged.
Yuna deserves higher GOE in all except in layback spin...and yet Adelina was so close to her...that alone is haunting me.
Unfortunately skating earlier cost her. Judges are more conservative in giving points on earlier competitors versus later competitors. If Yuna had skated any competition prior she would have had a later start and a better score

OMG!! I'm so excited!!! Yuna's most beautiful short program is "Send in the clowns." At the 2014 Sochi Olympics, she was calmer, more beautiful than anyone else, and I think she showed real figure skating.
Yuma’s program was gorgeous, but I think Carolina Kostner’s program was the most memorable and exquisite of the event! She is ethereal!

It's 2020 and I'm still mad that Yuna didn't get her Gold, smh the ISU is dead.
The fact is she is still happy even if she didn't get what she wanted, she is still happy to be on the ice and be there to skate with the music.

Yuna's spins are awesome. they're fast and centered. if there's a poor executed part of her spin, it's only the layback and it's pretty understandable because she has a slipped disc. even her camel is the best up to this day. no one can do that same position that Yuna does. yup her TEs bv is low however, they're executed perfectly. her jumps are textbook which should have been rewarded high GOEs but unfortunately did not happen. so yeah, no matter how hard you defend the GOLD MEDALIST, no one will buy that because it's very apparent that Yuna, Caro, Mao and Gracie's way better than her. she should have been 4th the most....

For example, in the 10-11 season she only competed at Worlds, in the 13-14 season she only competed at the Olympics. This meant that she had a low world standing and the groups are ordered by world standing.

Sally Vee I don’t think so, Putin really wanted to show off how great leader he is through Sochi Olympics. We all know that Sochi Olympic committee committed extensive doping and forming Russia friendly judging panels. Of course ISU did not work properly, but I don’t think this was totally ISU’s fault.

Send in the clowns brings me to tears. ISU how could you have done this to Yuna?? I pretty much stopped watching figure skating after Sochi, and this just reminds me that I will probably never get over the results of this event. Like one of the Italian commentator lady said at the time, WHY are you doing this to this sport, just WHY??

diddykong king A couple of the judges here inflated the scores of Adelina Sotnikova. Her score was insanely close to Yuna Kim’s score, who’s considered the greatest female figure skater ever. The problem is Sotnikova’s skating is nowhere near the level of Kim’s, especially shown in the free program. If you watch these events with the commentary, even the folks commentating don’t agree with the scores given to Sotnikova. Mind you, she’s also Russian and these Olympics were hosted in Russia. Definitely something fishy going on.

The silver medal is also really surprising considering her gap and injury. The reason many fans are upset is not because Yuna didn’t get gold, but because it was not fair. That is why we feel like gold medal is stolen by country of corruption.

@eletozima 9 Adelina’s previous personal best was 202.36. When Yuna had a Bielman she scored 228.56, without it she scored 219.11. So how did Adelina jump from 202.36 to 224.59 without any changes to her programs except for a 3T combo instead of a 2T (which only makes for 2.80 point difference). That’s a 20 point gap in the matter of less than a month!! She got a higher score than her much better performance at NATIONALS! That never happens, everyone knows Nationals are super inflated 😂 plus in Nationals she did a 3Lz-3Lo with the same level of under rotation as here. But here, nobody gave her an edge call and nobody called the underrotation. But even if it was clean, her components are higher than in nationals which is insane… Overall, she did not earn that gold medal, especially with the mistakes she made. Even if she was clean, she would’ve still been hyper-inflated in PCS. Yuna’s perfectly executed Bielman-including program in 2010 scored less in PCS than Adelina here 😂 isn’t that ridiculous 😂😂
2:05:52 was when Yuna knew that she was gonna win. She was in for a surprise, especially when a skater with the easiest triple-triple aka 3T-3T managed to almost outscore her.
Heartbreaking... She had a different reaction when the score was announced because it was indeed too low. She couldn't have skated better than that. The flip was one of the best of her career, yet I see a ton of +1's on the board. She got +1.1 for GOE in contrast to Adelina's sp flip that got +1.2 GOE...
Totally agree she deserves to win but Adelina (an amateur skater )with almost no experience beaten her 😭

We all know that Yuna Kim is two-time Olympic champion. Sochi couldn't allow some foreign skater with no figure skating background to conquer on their ice, so they had to make do with Sot. It couldn't have been much of a surprise to Yuna that Russia was desperate for a win in the Olympics somewhere, since their men lost a hockey match, and Sot's prospects weren't going to get higher than this.

No one comes close to Yuna's very smooth glide on ice and her upper body movements. So graceful and expressive... 🥰🥰🥰
You can see during the 6-min warm-up (1:30:00 - 1:36:00), Yuna was so anxious and frustrated. But after 20 minutes, she just looked calm and serene and managed to deliver such a flawless and poetic performance. The queen did have nerves of steel.

Even After six years, seeing Adelina’s short program beat Kostner’s one causes me nausea. One of the biggest scandal in figure skating history.

Honestly, I really like her short. It has a lot of energy and charm and she demostrates a lot of jumping and spin hability. It was good tecnhically, and much better than the long coreography wise. However, it lacked artistry, Carolina had the full package, with good jumps and amazing expression. If only she had gotten brozen or silver I belive Adelina could have become an amazing and humble skater (at least until Eteri's youngsters came around) because she had the talent.

@@user-red47854 Well, I am basing it in the judge's scores. She did not have any major mistakes apart from that prerotation (and prerotations and underotations are sometimes overlooked, like Shoma Uno's underotation in the 2018 free skate). No one can deny she has big jumping hability and good spins (she created her own spin, called the "Adelina" spin combination) but she lacked maturity.

How come Yuna's 3Lz+3Toe against Adelina's 3Toe+3Toe gets them the same score? And what about presentation, composition, skating skills, edge control? Doesn't make sense.
Lakernik and his peeps made sure give Sotnikova high GOE to keep up with Kim's pristine technique and artistry. It was the only way to make sure a Russian won the Olympics in Russia, after all.

No fan can bring this to a close. Its a huge scandal and an obvious crime. But we cant fight ISU for the way they do things. Even now FEW YEARS LATER their handling of things are still pretty questionable. All we can do is rant :(

Yuna’s short program here was just as artistic as fine arts. However, her score was absurdly low. She should have got at least 10 or more points.

@@joychuasihan12 Remember how overscored Evgenia was during the 16-17 and 17-18 season? Her PCS was 38+ and TES 42+ for her small jumps (her "tano" is built upon flawed jumping technique). At the Olympics the judges are usually generous to top skaters with the GOE. If Evgenia's dramatic style had PCS 38+ then imo Yuna should get a perfect 40. But I think it'd be fair to give Yuna a PCS of 37+ with TES 42+ for this program.

I love the posture where Yuna Kim is doing camel variation spin with both arms in a straight line and the torso totally up toward the ceiling. unique and beautiful. well captured thumnail. I like it.
You took the words right out of my mouth! At least Olympic Channel managed to find a good shot of Yuna Kim in her signature camel spin. As of now, there are no skaters who are able to pull this variation off. I've seen Trusova and Kostornaia try, and I really hate it on them. You Young looks awkward, too, I'm sorry to say. These girls have the doughnut spin and I-spin; I think they should stick to that instead. Yuna Kim was not known for her flexibility or spirals (Mao Asada was), but she had beautiful lines and posture. There's a reason why only she can do this move.
@@Essylte right?? She changes the position without losing speed as well! Those other skates you mentioned has noticeable decrease of speed when they lift the blade into the upright position, but Yuna doesnt
@@brian5619 I have a feeling that the skaters who try this position feel as if they're going to lose balance, so that's why they're in an awkward position, losing speed during the spin. Clearly, they're doing it for more points, but surely they watch tape of themselves, and notice how ugly they look?? In my head, I'm like "Stop it, you're never going to be Yuna Kim - just stick with your usual spins, please!" It'll be a long while before anyone really does her signature camel variation perfectly.
It was broadcasted at 2am here in my country and I remembered waking myself up just to watch Yuna's programs. Sochi Olympics ruined the whole figure skating for me.

I agree. Nowadays all I see is over scoring and wrong techniques everywhere . Nobody does it the textbook way except for elizaveta. I miss genuine athletes like yuna , carolina, gracie....🙁

You can tell Park So Youn was nervous on that first jump which is entirely valid. But I do love the way her body moves on ice, she never looks stiff. The arm and hand movements especially are always so effortless and precise. Really adds to her artistry imo.

Sochi scoring and the complete corruptness that is the ISU still has me mad, but well - watch this for the utter beauty that is Yu-Na's and Carolina's skating. Two of the most beautiful women's short programmes of all time in one competition, you don't get that everyday. also Mao's short would have completed this holy trinity but the skating gods are cruel
