I will never forgive Fox for treating Cyclops as a side character. He is the leader of the team, the Captain America for the X-men. MCU Cyclops should be like the X-men '97 version. Badass leader, who can do hand to hand combat, who utilizes his laser beam, and that SUPERHERO LANDING is 🔥
Cyclops is kinda eh
Yeah but it's time to forgive so you can move forward in life

The “fast and loose” style young Charles works for me. He only became more careful in his steps after recovering from the drunken depression that happened after he was paralyzed
Yep, hard agree! It's okay for a character to do a 180 arc after a traumatic event and dealing with it to become a wiser stronger and better leader
Anya as Magik was a good casting choice
Banning comics on set is something 😢
Apparently Marvel Studios has been doing that as well recently.

Unpopular opinion: Origins was not that bad. Is it a masterpiece? Maybe not. But it’s fun and I personally have a great time watching it.
Plus it was the only movie with Gambit, which imo is a huge win
I agree and the movie is better then X-men Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix in my opinion because it was at least way more entertaining then those movies.
That scene where wolverine jumps out of the helicopter that gambit is flying, and a terrible CG Logan skips across the water like a flat stone. Movie gold
@@isaacwood429Yet this is what made me so angry. We only got him in one movie because he was born way too soon. However, we ith what little time he had, Taylor Kitch embodied him beautifully.
@@isaacwood429he got nerfed to shit tho
Simon Kinberg always did a better job as a producer than as a writer Is because of him that we got "First Class", "Deadpool" and "Logan"
15:15 I thought the Apoc Quicksilver sequence was better. Time didn’t stop and the explosion is faster than people so I was on the edge of my seat and I constantly rewatch. The first Quicksilver scene in DOFP seems more like time was frozen and while cool, there doesn’t seem to be any ticking clock to worry about.
Fr, Apocalypse really showed how his powers would work. Time never fully stopped, he was just that fast. But also not fast enough to save Alex Summers who was close to the explosion.
He also played around too much and didn’t save everyone in time. Of course I was tired of them using Havok as the older Summers brother instead of Vulcan & never had the summers brothers meet so it was whatever.
I'm not arguing that Dark Pheonix shouldn't be last, but I am arguing that there IS 1 good sequence in that movie... Magneto fighting off the (not) skrulls on the train was badass
Magneto IS badass. Except in that early Fantastic Four animated series. I will never forgive them for that.
The score and visual effects were also great
For me Logan should be last.
The scene where Jean moved the train was pretty cool too.
@@Just_SanderWhat garbage bait lol
No way "The Wolverine" gets ranked higher than "First Class"
It's a close call... I ain't complaining
Facts💥 I like the wolverine but.. Xmen First Class was waaaaay better
it’s peak 😂🔥
Wolverine was a better movie. First Class you kill a mutant whose powers are literally adapting to anything bc sure that power set and backstory can’t be useful in future movies say if a world ending mutant who body swaps comes along.
It's been fun revisiting all these movies before Deadpool and Wolverine! It was awesome to see the journey of how these movies grew and evolved over the course of the Fox era, even if they had some low points. The really high points really made it all worth it. Some of those points will always go down as some of my favorite X-Men moments ever.
No way he put Deadpool 2 at #9 just because it had too much of “Ryan Reynolds’s being Ryan Reynolds”💀
Did you miss all the other reasons I gave lol
I know right? Ryan Reynolds is like Jeff Goldblum to me. The more he is himself the better I like it, and Deadpool is as much Ryan Reynolds as he is Deadpool. The two are inextricably linked. Never a dull moment with him.
@@NewRockstars It’s all subjective. We all have our own lists.
Yeah it’s a weird take, because I just don’t see any difference between Ryan Reynold’s being Ryan Reynold’s and Deadpool as a character. Like I just don’t see how you can “Un-Ryan Reynold”the deapool movies without taking away what makes them feel like actual deadpool movies, if you get what I mean 💀
I like your list. I would rate Deadpool 2 higher. I enjoyed it more after a rewatch. The movie brought more characters in and established which X-Men universe/timeline it was in.
I actually think X-Men Origins Wolverine wasn't that bad. I think it gets a bad rep just because of the third act. The only thing I don't like about the film is that it's never explained why Victor doesn't remember Logan in the first X-Men film since he never got shot with adamantium bullets, so by all accounts it's a bit of a "plot hole."
He was, probably, experimented on, triggering his secondary mutation (the more feral look) and doesn't remember much, but he still has a fixation with Logan's dog tags 🤷🏽♂️
I think there's an interview somewhere where they were asked this and their response was that it's two separate characters. In their minds "Victor" in Wolverine is a completely different person from "Sabretooth" in XMen
@@jeremyachristensenmy headcanon was that Sabretooth eventually got a Wolverine-esque transformation leading to his different look and neither of them recognizing each other due to memory loss, doesn’t victor get metal claws in the comics?
DoFP wiped it all out of existence so it’s for the best anyway.
@@jeremyachristensenalmost like Victor Creed is more Romulus or repurposed Daken as his brother. OR Sabertooth acting more like Mr Sinster’s flunky Hairbag. I’m sure DP & Wolverine will address this plot hole.
Deadpool is not an RR movie. Characters typically should be bigger, however this casting as Deadpool is so dang accurate, it doesn't matter at all. They are the same person. He gets away with it
for me days of future past will always be my favorite but i think logan is arguably the “best” film
The are both S-tier movies in my opinion even though I love Logan a little more then days of future past.
Same. I think DoFP is #1 and Logan #2 in the entire series. DoFP is way more fun IMO due to the stakes and the cast.
Imo none of the X-Men movies have managed to capture the true spectacle of the 70s - 90s magic of the X-Men comics.
I agree with most of what was said. However, I love First Class so much. I have plenty of problems with the director and some of the storytelling choices, but the character work between McAvoy and Fassbender has me more emotionally invested than almost anything else in the franchise... with some obvious Logan-sized exceptions.
The Wolverine was good but.. First Class was waaaaay better
@@alexanderadonyae7937 I completely agree
Despite their problems the Fox X men universe will always hold a special place in my heart and its best movies are some of the best cbms period.
I liked the last dark phoenix alot more than last stand
Agreed.
Avi Arad ruined The Last Stand Simon Kinberg did a better job as director than Brett Ratner
The only thing I would change is putting DOFP over X2 and potentially a 2 way tie with Logan. I feel like DOFP legitimately feels like Xmen from start to finish
Love your stuff keep it up
Imagine banning the source material on set.. some of these directors are cooked
Unsorted? That's dumb imo lol be tough and rank it and just love with whatever happens after
Can anyone explain to me Erics dislike of Ryan Reynolds? The only explanation I got from the video was "Ryan Reynolds being Ryan Reynolds" lol...
I think what he was trying to say is that Deadpool has the same personality (which is Ryan Reynolds on crack) with everyone in the movie, he doesn’t say he dislikes reynolds, he even admires him at some point in the video I think but it’s just the fact that Deadpool didn’t have that much of a difference in personalities with the side characters and just acted the same with everyone (expect yukio), at least that’s how I viewed it. Hope this helps 🫶🏻
@@FlashLegionI mean... That's just Deadpool tho. 🤣🤣🤣
@@iQueue211 it’s both tbh 😭
@@FlashLegion To be fair, Deadpool was written to have a Ryan Reynolds personality in the comics. It's a weird situation where the real human that Deadpool's personality is based on now has creative control of Deadpool. Deadpool is just Ryan Reynolds but with powers in the Mavel Universe.
He doesn’t dislike him, he’s just being honest lol.
Always when I rewatch this series I skip The Last Stand and the Wolverine movies, and end with Days of Future Past. That makes it an amazing series and it's still cohesive as a story. It feels more like something with a start and an end. There's enough of Wolverine's backstory in X2 to make sense and even the look on Logan's face when he sees Jean again in the end could be interpreted as "confused to see his friends alive again". I like to watch Logan as a separate movie.
DoFP references Last Stand, so you could include it, as it was disappointing, but not horrible... However, Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix are best forgotten.
This is the weirdest way I've ever seen anyone rank stuff.
Agreed
He’s ranking them in release order. Not THAT weird.
We did it this way because, honestly, other ways of announcing rankings suck. They just beg viewers to turn off their brains and begin shouting at the first sign of disagreement. If you want to see the full ranking top to bottom, go ahead and skip to the end of the video, you know that's where you'll find it. To watch a video thoughtfully reviewing all the options in a rewatch, their connections, their relationship to each other, requires a chronological reexamination in which the easy best and worst outliers could be quickly categorized as such, and the more debatable ones set aside for a more scrutinized approach later. This is how the human brain actually ranks and sorts stuff and we think it's more interesting to invite someone into that deliberation in real time, rather than just barf out another list you're just gonna disagree with part of.

Good video. I liked the ranking for the most part. I feel DP1 should be higher... 3rd (or 2nd?) maybe. The rest can stay where the are.
AVI ARAD worked on the first movies as executive producer But for the 3rd movie, he decided to step in as the main producer That's why we got a movie done by a director with no passion, and a limited story overstuffed with characters, just so he could sell more toys
So the lesson here is Keep him far away from anything marvel

Didn't you say that Dark Phoenix suppose to be a two-parter but its sequel got canned? That film even ended with a sequel tease. It's an incomplete adaptation so it makes sense to why it leaves out parts from the comics. They were saving it for a potential sequel. Cramming an entire saga would have created even more problems.
I gotta disagree about Deadpool, I think 2 was far more rewatchable
agreed
I agree. I like both movies but I kinda liked the second more.
It is also more rewatchable to me as well, but I figure everyone brings their own unique experiences, preferences, interpretations and expectations to every film, and the things he dings it for seem to make it less rewatchable to him.
I will say this about Dark Phoenix, the train fight was sick
I respectfully disagree with you...I like the Wolverine and it was good but First Class was waaaaay better 🔥
Fox would’ve had a perfect record with these movies if they followed most of the animated series especially with X3 and the dark Phoenix
I’m kind of curious after seeing this list is what is Erik’s 10 superhero media (shows, animated, and live action movies)
I would’ve put First Class at the bottom with Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix personally, for the rest I totally agree even though DeadPool 2 is still, more enjoyable to watch then most of the movies you putted before him in your list :)
lol... I lowkey kinda like dark pheonix
I personally love origins, as a kid the movie made me fall in love with superhero movies
5:33 that’s why THE Wolverine is one of my top underrated superhero movies
I love Deadpool 2. I do not know where it ranks because I think the Deadpool movies are on their own separate from the rest of the x-men movies.
Logan is #3 for me. I just can’t put it above Days of Future Past or X2 because I’ve only been able to bring myself to watch it twice in the 7 years since it came out.. it’s an essentially perfect movie but so painful to watch
I’ve only seen it twice because I can’t take it 🤦🏽♂️
12:39 where can I watch the rouge cut?
I will give the Wolverine a rewatch because I believe Deadpool too, and the wolverine should be swapped in the ranking. That’s just my opinion.
"We did not need to see Channing Tatum ever." I wholeheartedly agree!
Ranking by spending the first half of the video putting them in unsorted? What?
I have LOGAN and Days of future past as the top 2
The only ones I like lol
Deadpool 2 at 9 is outrageous imo easily top 5
I do believe your pretty close with your thoughts on where these movies go. I've been watching these movies over the years and some have held my attention but some have not
19:56 come on the train scene is fantastic, you can’t deny that
Also, the visual affects and production value.
Magneto didn't even appear in Dark Phoenix until over halfway through the film's runtime and only gets 13 minutes of screentime. With all due respect, I would argue that saying the movie is about Magento is silly since he barely appears it. The stuff with him was a B-story. I feel like this is just a case of cognitive bias.
Absolutely.
I think this list is fine. Logan is definitely number 1, and where you put the rest fit with maybe some movements up or down but where you ranked them, I believe generally would be agreed upon for most people. the only movie id move up to a would be Deadpool 2, probably above 1st class. I think it does get better upon re-watch and is more enjoyable. I have been re-watching them again so I'm interested if ill have the same opinion on some of these
I'm not gonna lie, the movies that are bad in this franchise are not nearly as bad as they seemed. I think all the expectations put on them hurt them more than anything and when viewed on their own merits have good to them. However, they make a couple HUGE mistakes that are pretty core to the X-Men (Cyclops' role, Storm's role, Phoenix being done correctly, etc.) and it hurts every movie outside of the top tier of the franchise.
I rewatched most of the xmen movies recently and comparing those lesser xmen movies to the current MCU is like night and day strangely enough
@@KarolGacek18 i do think that part of the reason why some of the X movies have aged better than others is because we don’t really get superhero movies like that anymore, and with that absence our hearts have grown fonder to the style. The things those movies did well is amplified while the bad things aren’t focused on. that’s not even factoring in nostalgia, which is so strong for that era in media right now people are acting like Star Wars Episodes 1 and 2 are actually 4 star movies lmao
I agree with this ranking!
This list is actually super good imo the only things I would disagree with is dp 2 that low and I would bump the first Deadpool over days of future past and put dp2 under days of future past in my personal opinion then everything else looks perfect to me
I'm here after watching ep. 5 of 97 and idk how u guys will be able to break this down. Im conflicted and sad and marvel will be paying for my therapy trips
I had a similar experience with Deadpool 2. I hadn't seen it in awhile and wanted to watch it but everytime I'd be looking for something I'd think back to Deadpool 2 and I could only think of a couple of things I actually liked about it. When I eventually sat down to watch the thing it was a bit of a let down.
10:53 I havent finished watching the video, but how can you call this a "ranking" if 4 of the first 6 movies discussed arent ranked? Why not just do the ranking section at the end ibstead of separating each movie discussion woth a ranking session?
Overall agree with your list although I would personally put first class higher
I was 12 when X-men Origins Wolverine came out and that shit ruled.
X men origins is cool, the fight in the end was dope
i think they are different universes. First class trilogy universe Xmen 1&2 universe Wolverine - Logan universe Last stand is logans dream, never happened. DOFP multiverse film
I think its technically two separate timelines and not universes due to the events of the days of future past movie.
Such a fresh way to review a series
I'd say my Top 3 are: 1) Logan 2) Days Of Future Past 3) Deadpool
Anyone know where to find Days of Future Past Rogue Cut?
One nitpick about the mutant kids in Logan. Colossus, Wolverine and his kids are the front line tank class of Mutants that can soak all the damage. Most mutants have normal human durability with crap powers, ranged powers or vague mind powers.
When they released the next xman ep?
I think first class and apocalypse is way higher, probs 8 for apocalypse and first class is top 5 but fair list
I like the Dark Phoenix!!!!
great ranking. pretty spot on with mine. 👍🏽
DP2 is mostly just Ryan Reynolds Ryan Reynoldsing everybody 😂 that’s so accurate😂😂
Days of Future Past is my personal favourite X-Men film tbh. Deadpool would either be first or second if I included those films in the X-Men group. Origins is also my favourite Wolverine solo film.
I will not let you slander the unknown potential of Channing Tatum's Gambit.
There is no potential it’s not a good idea💀💀
I’m pretty much in agreement here. Maybe only switching Origins: Wolverine and Apocalypse…
You are kinder than I. I would have ranked last stand beneath Apocalypse tbh. The Magneto story arc in Apocalypse at least endeared me to the character, unlike whatever the hell that vain out of character portrayal was supposed to be in The Last Stand. "You are not one of us anymore, you were pretty hot tho ngl." WTH? And as impressive as it was, the whole bridge sequence took me out of the movie. I didn't get why that was necessary outside of "we need one more big cg sequence before the film goes out."
I agree with your ranking 10000%
since we all love Logan so much, what do you folks think about the Deadpool and Wolverine revisiting that time or basically redoing some parts of that storyline from the comics?
Great vid, thanks NR!
Gonna try watch all the marvel and mcu movies before secret wars since llooks like ill have plenty tine
Hope we get Sinister and then Krakoa in the MCU.
Not Deadpool 2 at 9😂😂
victor creed in x-men is peak 🔥
I agree with this entire list. Except I'd move the first movie up
However you feel about apocalypse, it’s definitely some of magneto’s best
Excellent review. However, the title should have been “x-men movies “ranked?”… and the only problem with Logan is there needed to be a short film detailing the events of one of Logan’s nights out. That night revolves around the time Logan got hammered on fireball. Because a fantastic (no sarcasm) set director put a bottle of fireball as one of the liquor bottles that Logan had finished in the background of a scene. If you ever drank fireball, it really makes you ponder on how that night started and the adventure Logan had that night being bit tipsy on fireball
Also, didn't he say that Dark Phoenix was suppose to be a two-parter. I'm surprised that he omitted that in this video.
The alternate title for "The Wolverine" is "Logun"..
The problem I have with many of the X-Men movies is that they always try to have too many mutants in each movie. I wish there would have been more patience and character development in each movie with fewer character intros. Sure it may have taken a couple more movies to get to the end story, but I think it would have made the movies better.
It's the X-men, not X-man... They're team up movies.
great video. dont think you needed to speed this one up tho
Love from Belgium 🇧🇪 ❤
They were definitely better than I remembered. I enjoyed this rewatch. I would rank Deadpool 2 higher, right with Deadpool 1.
I loved Wolverine Orguns. Leiv and Hugh!
The AUDACITY to put Deadpool behind any of these films besides Logan baffles me. Honestly it's probably tied for first with Logan. Even Deadpool 2 still better than the other X-men movies.
I'd switch The Wolverine and Deadpool 2 and that would be closer to mine.
I feel like you didn't rank off of action enough I like to see special people do dope stuff with their powers we need more of that
I was always upset that instead of Colossus vs Juggernaut in X3, they gave us Kity Pryde vs Juggernaut
I just watched morbius for the first time, and it wasn't as bad as people made it seem. It just wasn't as polished as expected
Wolverine Origins is essential.
The reason the vehicles in Deadpool 1 & 2 and cities are present day-ish, yet the First Class X-Men are the ones to appear in the Deadpool Franchise..those movies came out around the same time in real life. Hence why they’re not there at certain times. The might have just left or hide from Deadpool. Colossus and NSTWH don’t need to be there (Colossus would get crumpled by Magneto, NegaSonic would blow everyone up)
Top 5 Logan Days of future past X-2 First class The Wolverine
I feel like without directly saying so... the studio and creatives saw origins wolverine as glorified fan-fiction... it really doesn't seem at all Canon in hindsight... it has the most timeline contradictions and just feels different from any of the others....
I know you probably have a lot on your plate but are you going to do a tales of the empire break down?
Wolvi Origins is so nowhere NEAR as bad as Last Stand, nor as unenjoyable but the rest of this list is pretty solid
