Actually, in the original Rapunzel, the husband steals rapunzel plants from his witch neighbor's garden because his wife is craving them and keeps begging him to get some. (There's many variations of this story and the plant changes often, i.e. radishes, rampion, rapunzel, cabbage) The witch demands they give over their baby once it's born when she catches him. That's where her name comes from.

In the tv show Little Mermaid Ariel's father was turned into a child younger than Ariel and his hair was red and his personality was very much like Ariel's personality, so it seems the show makes her more like her father than mother.

In the 2015 movie, it was shown that Lady Tremaine originally married for love, but when the hubby died, she remarried for money, which she got with Cinderella's father. When he died while traveling, she took it out on Cinderella and made her do all the housework and basically turned her into a slave. But I will say that 2015's Lady Tremaine is a pretty lady.

Actually the sleepy beauty version they talked about is a very early rewrite. The original tale was much closer to the disney version in many ways.

Talking about Rapunzel being dark, you didn't even mention the fact that the Witch cut Rapunzel's hair, gouged out her eyes, banished her to the desert, tricked the Prince, and made him fall into a pit of brambles...which poked out his eyes. Yeah, the story KINDA has a happy ending; the Prince eventually wanders into the desert, re-meets Rapunzel, and they have two children. ....But that's not really a Disney ending.
No, the prince saves Rapunzel and the prince gets unblind as he meets Rapunzel, immediately curing his eyes.

The Jasmine and Merida ones aren't even secrets, they're very visible plotpoints. The Aurora, Belle and Rapunzel ones aren't really Disney secrets since they were things about the original, non-Disney tales. The Snow White is more forgotten than a secret and the rest is just speculation.

The brother Grimm version of repanzul went a little more like this, rapunzels mother was pregnant and craved a plant named repanzul she craved it more knowing she couldn't have it, for it grew only in the garden of the witch that lived behind them. She send her husband for it he went and came until he got caught he was so scared to be caught stealing and lying that he promised the witch anything ,even his first born child. When repanzul was born the witch took her immidietly, and put her far away from society. One day a man heard her singing he liked it so much he follows the sound to a tower deep in the forest. He saw that the witch would say "rapunzels let down your hair" so he did it too and he climbed up a few times. He made friends with her and kept coming back. One day repanzul said to the witch "why do you weight more than the prince" the witch became so mad that one day she waited for the Prince to come ,pushed him down to fall in a bush of thorn and he lost his eyesight, he then let repanzul go but she was pregnant. One day she was roaming around in a dessert and for she was singing that the Prince was able to relocate her, they actually ,unlike many of the Grimm brothers stories, had a happy ending... enjoy

The reason most Disney princesses have no mothers is because Walter Disneys mother dies in a house that he bought her and his dad. After the sucess of Snow White, he bought them a house and his mother died tragically due to a gas leak in the house. After that, most of the lead characters had their mother be dead or die in his films. As a reaction of guilt and thinking it was his fault. One simple google search guys... it’s not hard
