Steveo, when I was 12 years old, I had a really hard time connecting with my dad, but the one way we connected was through comedy. One day we sat down together and watched Jackass the movie, and laughed so hard together we cried. Seeing you today, clean and not only doing good for yourself but for other people is truly inspiring. And what means more to me, as someone who has had grand mal seizures, is to see you reach out to someone who did something simple as bring you a pack of gum has really touched my heart. I'm 23, and reaching 2 years seizure free, and still laughing with my dad as we've discovered your channel. Thank you for being you, even at your worst. Thank you for being you at your best, and thank you for using your fame (no matter how stupid) to do something good for others.
I'm glad to hear you have been seizure free. Do you know ehat caused them in the first place?
@@Kelaine72 It's hard to tell. I have temporal focal epilepsy, which means it starts in the left front part of my brain and spreads to the rest. I also have ADHD, which is common in about 30% of epileptics, but I've been ADHD since I was a kid, and only started having seizures when I was 16. ADHD is also an issue with the temporal lobe, so this could be something I was born with or a head injury that might've happened that I don't remember, or something that just started and went away. There was a period for about 4 years that I wasn't having seizures without my medication. I can tell you though my trigger is not getting enough sleep or disruptive sleep patterns, and surprisingly energy drinks. I can kind of tell when I'm playing a dangerous line of not getting enough sleep, as I'll have hypnic jerks, which is like that sensation when you're about to fall asleep and you feel like you're falling and jerk real fast (this is common even in people who don't have epilepsy). Another hypnic jerk I get is a hand spasm, which sends whatever pen or keys or drink I'm holding flying across the room. Another trigger that I'm finding out i have is certain light patterns make my face jerk. Strobe lights are totally fine, but if I'm riding in the car, and there's sunlight through a bunch of trees and the shadows are hitting my window. That shit just sucks, like, you feel your lips and cheek and forehead muscles twitching, and just closing your eyes doesn't help.

No worries, I'm a hypochondriac myself. If it helps you at all to know this, I've had only 8 grand mal seizures in my life, and through every one of them I haven't been scared, because of this thing called hypoxia. It's where your brain realizes it isn't getting enough oxygen, and it makes the rest of your body calm down so it can get as much oxygen as it can. If you look it up on KZhead, air pilots will go through a hyperbaric chamber to learn how to be aware of hypoxia and how they act under the influence. Of course, the risk of injuring yourself with seizures is gonna be scary, but I think it would bring a lot of people comfort if they knew that the person going through the grand mal seizure isn't actually having a freak out or is conscious during it. I remember the last seizure I had, I was more upset because I had spilled my drink on my desk, not because I fell back in my office chair and had a seizure. I tell you of all this, because if you're as bad as a hypochondriac as I am, you've googled everything there is to know about it, and have only read or seen the really scary shit. Best of luck to you though.
@Jacob Tratnyek I'm good bro. Medication helps well, plus there's still research to be done on how marijuana helps epileptics. It's actually the CBD that helps, but they don't know how it works yet. Brain's a delicate thing.

I need to communicate with you. I'm losing so much grip on life... my mental illnesses and past addiction are taking their toll on me. Way before drugs I had major depressive disorder at 16, drugs was only a 4 year thing, starting at 24 I'm 28 now. My brain is in constant darkness and I feel ill never succeed, and that there's no use of being anymore. Knowing Steve even exists gives me a warm comfort to stay and hang on....
Keep fighting the good fight. I myself struggled with drug addiction and alcoholism l. Find something ur passionate about and make that ur new addiction. I’m my life I’ve found I gotta replace the bad addictions with good ones

You are the biggest success story I have ever seen dude, I know youre going to get everything you ever wanted and even if you were to drop dead tomorrow, with all the wholesome content and actions youve made throughout your sobriety will be what people talk about til the end of time. Almost everyone Ive talked to about the things youre doing no are aware of youre transformation at this point and I hope you never drop dead but I hope you find comfort in knowing how inspirational you are back then and now for pretty wildly different reasons, but yeah man, youre really an incredible human being and I hope you never stop.
