I think Carwow, has become spoiled by the drag races and over reliance on the German cars. But this car is such much of a muchness
I love Mat but even I have to admit- he isn't perfect. He can be biased with Korean cars and cheaper cars and of course there is way to much advertising with like "click on the pop out banners." But then again, he posts daily (pretty much) with generally rly enjoyable content so rly they both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Trashing Hyundais is what carwow does for a living. They've obviously been paid off by the competition to do so
I've just bought a very nice used 2nd gen i20 and I love it, plenty of bang for buck and drives well. It doesn't have the greatest engine but it's quiet and economical. If the new one is an improvement then drivers a in for a treat. But for now I'll enjoy my previous generation i20 😊
What's ur take on its build quality? I10 recently got only 2 stars on ncap! Do you think it will also score the same or is it better ?

I have the previous i20 and I really like it, the interior on this new version seems a bit odd and I imagine you'd have to dust between the creases of plastic. Otherwise I think it's okay. Keep up the good work

Agree with KP. I couldn’t watch the Carwow video for this vehicle (posted yesterday), it was boring. Nicola kept me engaged for the whole video.

@@georgedowns4034 He spends far too long talking about the looks. One comment about the looks I understand, but we all have eyes and we can make our own minds up about style. It’s an individual thing, we don’t need his opinion. Then he to told us how the car has the same tyres as his 911, who gives a cr4p. Another problem with that channel is his endless promotion of the Carwow service and his continual plugging of previous videos, how many times do you hear, “click up there to watch my review of that car”.
@@v-gun9735 Lol I kinda see what you mean. But for me they both have their goods and bads. Yes Mat can be a bit biased and maybe spend slightly too long talking about the styling (and yes the advertising thing is A LOT) but he posts all the time (compared to weekly here) and I would argue his reviews are slightly more unique with the 5 annoying/good things, poke it with a stick, consider/shortlist. But I have to admit he has never been great at reviewing cheap cars (especially in recent years). Personally I think both channels are great in their own way.
@@georgedowns4034 The fact that Mat posts so often, with essentially exactly the same approach , with asides to camera, innuendo in his blurb and the dreaded banners is what's really pi$$ing people off at the moment. If he posted less and put a bit more thought and variation in his vids, maybe I wouldn't just flick through them like I've started to do lately.

I think it looks excellent both outside and inside. Also, don't forget it is a very reliable brand. Will definitely consider it if I was shopping for a new car. Currently driving a manual I10 (previous gen) and it is very good car. Recommended.

Hey Nicola, great review, I love what Hyundai have done with the exterior design of the new i20, striking, does remind me of the Seat Leon another car I love. The interior I think Hyundai could have done much better, all in all I don't mind. I can live with that. I have the previous i20 and the reason I bought it was practically, my previous Suzuki Swift 2014 model was a treat to drive, I loved it, but was somewhat lacking a big boot and the back sit was a bit cramped. Would love to try the new i20 and the N would be a treat. Who knows I may consider it as my next car.

I have a 21 plate in grey and I love it except it does go through a lot of petrol, it’s a hybrid and I thought it would use a lot less than it does. am i doing something wrong? Anything I can do to help?

Not bad, except the rear design and interior. Bit dreary. But all cars have the grey or dark interior to give it the "premium" look. Can't expect customers to pay more when the manufacturer is cutting back. Anyway, good video👍🙂

I also reviewed the Hyundai i20 in my channel, and I was very impressed! The design is far more interesting than ever! Yes though the interior does have a lot of plastic, the equipment list was good
Today i was buy this beautiful car...1.0 T-GDi STYLE in this 'intense blue' color. Now i must be patient and wait one month to delivery. This will be hard time :)

Euro cars often have better interiors, Asian cars otten have better long term reliability. The true value might not shine through until 20 years in to the future, when it's still working, long after the Euros have passed their used by date.
Nicola mentions this car is the premium model (4:24) but it has the two tone interior fitted on the ultimate spec, which is odd!
I've been driving the top spec model as a courtesy car. It's a decent car to drive but the fuel economy is pretty disappointing considering it's a 1L petrol with a hybrid system. My 2012 Aygo gets 70-75mpg, driving in the same manner in the i20 returns around 55-60mpg. From the perspective of a hypermiler, the battery in this car feels more like a parasitic draw from the engine then anything else. The sailing mode is very unpredictable too so it's not like you can really use it to your advantage. I reckon it's a safety thing to stop stupid people having runaway acceleration downhill (it restarts and re-engages the engine if you gain speed while in sailing mode).
Good little car. Much better looking than the nasty fiesta and a 5 year warranty too.
Nice car. It would be much more wonderful if there was an electric parking brake and keyless start.

I still like the styling of the i20 "Coupe" better, but that might be my biased opinion because I have the 2017 Coupe version :)
I have the 2018 5 door i20 and like the styling more than this new one.. Have to agree that the MK2 Coupe is a beautiful car!

Am I the only one who doesn't mind the interior design? 😂. I agree that there are better looking ones and ones with nicer materials, but it doesn't look bad (imo).
I just got new i 20, like yesterday, and seriousely IT IS NOT that bad/cheap looking! I actually like it better than toyota yaris, that i also was checking out. I didn’t buy toyota b/c they were out stock and wanted me to wait like 6 months for it! I needed car right away so went to hyundai and got i20 instead. So no - you are not the only one …lol
I don't mind it either. Besides, who touches the interior while driving? I know I don't 😄
am i the only one who thinks the interior looks still dope for this priceclass? the new peugeot 208 costs like 5-6 thousand euros more (if the hyundai is 15.000 and the peugeot is 20.000€) so i think it‘s not fair to compare it

I honestly prefer the older one, and the interior plastics are of much better quality than on this new one, the rear looks odd.... Keeping my 2018 I20 for years to come, 0 faults and got it cheap!
I've just bought a used i20 and I'm seriously impressed, I really feel like it was money well spent on a safe, reliable and economical car with lots of kit and charm 😊👍

Looks like 2 people designed the car, 1 for the front and 1 for the back.
Yeah I'm not fond of the rear end, but I'm still considering it on the strength of my i10. When car reviewers were talking up the VW Up against the i10, I had access to an Up at work while I had an i10, and I really couldn't see why they were all raving about the driving fun in the Up; I genuinely preferred my i10 in all respects.
I agree the Mazda 2 and the older Seat Ibiza also look like had two different designers 🤔

wondering why you do your reviews on a Test Track and Not on Queens Highway ? It can’t be coz of C/19 coz Auto-trader / Harry’s Garage and few others (Not including CarWow as I find him Extremely Irritating) they test on Queens Highway.
Hi Hani, by shooting on a closed test track we're able to film several cars at a time without interruption. This helps with safety, and reduces sound from pedestrians or passing cars. It can be incredibly time consuming trying to find a spot that is free from distractions!

I would say that the biggest thorn in the I20 side is the Kia.
The Kia Rio is starting to feel a bit old now. The Clio, Fiesta and Polo remain the cars this i20 has to beat.
@@carbuyer agreed, kia needs to replenish their rio, but i think the rio might get redesigned in the coming years

First review which has said the i20 is fun to drive 🤔 no mention at all about the numb stearing feed back either.
In this class the i20 stands out as being one of the more engaging models to drive. The Ford Fiesta is still the best in this regard, but we really enjoyed our time with the Hyundai.
Just an engineering design thought... The hole sizes in the front grill seem glaringly huge. Not much protection to the vulnerable radiator behind it. Over-designed and messy on the outside, very under designed on the inside. What's with all those horrible chunky horizontal ridge mouldings? Humans like to be in a nice place Hyundai. The i20 isn't a nice place to spend a fair percentage of your life in.
Not the best looking car to my opinion but as always watched it till the end only because of my favorite presenter Nicola.💝

Oh common, the interiors in the i20 aren’t that bad looking (though the quality isn’t as good as you might find in a vw polo). I think that interiors in a Renault Clio are a bit overdone. In contrast, interiors in the I20 are a lot more simplistic yet neat.
I mean I would buy this car just on how well equipped it is

@@wynos0 anyway, to answer your question, I feel that the touchscreen on the Renault Clio is oversized, something that just doesn’t sit well with Clio’s compact dashboard. Also, the instrument cluster is more fancy and less easy to read

I have the previous model i20 ultimate....this latest model has no electric sunroof and no spare wheel like the one I'm currently driving.... I won't be buying this model with such poor spec options.....

This has the ugliest and most miserable interior of any current car. This dashboard works much better in the Bayon for some reason. This was a great review of it, Nicola is a very good host

Well, interior is so boring, VW like.. wouldn't buy any such a black-grey car because I spend most of the time inside the car than outside lol
Strange to say, but I don't look that much at the inside of my car. When I'm driving it, I'm preferably looking outside. When I'm not driving, I don't stay seated inside. The moment I really see the interior is when I'm cleaning it. And dark hard plastics are usually easy to clean and age well.

Honestly this is what appears if you waste one of three wishes on “a car”; it’s not going to set your world alight but if you wanted to just have a car to go places and take stuff . I don’t think it’s bad nor do I think it’s a good car., it’s just a lump of car. Hyundai makes one car I’d consider buying over a Ford, Mazda or Peugeot and you’ll know what that is. I would either go for a Fiesta or Mazda 2.
Just hired one for a week. It must be the most boring car I have sat in and driven.

I would take the fiesta over the Hyundai because it isn't Korean made and you know what cars from there is like.

No one drives a small car with an auto box in the UK. It makes no sense!
Manual gearboxes are still very popular in small cars here in the UK. Helps lower the price!
Lol, are you even based in Europe? Most of our cars (apart from bigger high end cars) are manual transmission. And I prefer it that way, cause the auto transmission on most average cars isn’t too good (until and unless it’s a BMW auto, which is simply amazing)
There’s hardly any power in these small cars as it is, strapping an auto box to a super mini will turn it into a small milk float. A manual is better for wringing all the power out. It’s also more fun to actually drive a car rather than be driven.

Ford is unreliable and their exterior styling is dull but then again they are fun to drive and well equipped but so is this.
