for the M.2 mount you can contact their support and they will sent you a mounting braket with screw for free (for memory expansion)

For the 85w, you could do a vbios flash to increase the power limits
For extra M.2 seems like you don’t need a screw to mount. You just plug it in and it rests on top of that black square thing. And when you close the cover it will be tightly sandwiched in between. And the heat will dissipate to that blue area of that back cover.

There's a bracket which you need to get direct from MSI. They send it out for free complete with 3 screws for attaching the bracket to the chassis and the ssd to the bracket.

2:49:38 Just wanted to say that I ran Time Spy on the stock 4070 in my Strix G18 with a QHD+ display and got a graphics score of 12257. Also, according to HWInfo64, the wattage did go up to about 119 at peak.
You need to disable overclocking lock on bios to be able to undervolt, it's in the performance settings

It's a pain in the a$$, in my country this laptop only provide 4060 gpu with the same prices (even a bit expensive than the 4070 series), sadly the other laptops with rtx 40 series isn't available in my country yet, so i might wait a lil bit longer for the ROG Strix series

Might get this to replace my Legion 5 with 2060. Would cost me €1100 after selling the Legion. I also have a MacBook Pro 16 with M1 Pro, so I don't mind the poor screen quality, speakers and battery.

Hello ! I changed the memory of the laptop, just for 5600mhz memory and i cant activate XMP profile or the laptop dont have a possibity for this. :(
Sadly even on the fabled Msi Bios, normal Undervolting for all 12th gen H chips (and probably all the "13th" gen as well since they are just refreshed Alder Lake) is locked down. However with Msi there is a workaround that some expert Msi owners figured. I can't link the reddit post that has the screenshot detailing it, but one can find it under "12700 can be undervolted? Msi guys found a way".

Can anyone recommend me the right voltage values for my i7-13620H? If i exactly reproduce the steps from the video i get a score of around 14500. With the stock voltage settings i got 15300! Maximum Watts after changing the voltage was 101W. So there has to be some misconfiguration. Thank you in advance!

You'll get the higher display resolution right after you connect the hdmi or whatever it might be. When not, go to settings / display / advanced display/ change resolution

Wait do you get the Laptops for a discount ? Why would anyone pay shipping, duties and a 50$ fee plus what you paid for that laptop. Am I missing something?
Because international pricing is far, far more than what I paid, so it will save some people a lot of money. If they are from the usa, then they basically pay what they would pay anyway + $50 + shipping. Plus its a tested laptop with no known issues and is autographed, if anyone cares about that. It also helps support me as a reviewer so I can keep buying more laptops to review.
@2:36:15 This 85w ("105w" allegedly with the mythical Dynamic Boost) is only getting the same TimeSpy score as my max watt 3070 (125w+15db) at stock. Even a "Full Power" 4070 (115w+25DB) is not beating a full power 3070ti (putting aside the massive downside of having half the memory bit bus). So prospective 4070 buyers should be looking at good deals on "last gen" Nvidia cards instead of paying more for these (debatably) worse new cards (4080 and 4090 are worthy if one has a massive budget though). This is also the same 12th gen cpu that the older laptops will have, and even so-called "13th gen" H processors are actually just refreshed alder lake parts. So one would simply be paying more $ for the same (or worse) performance..
But why in games was this laptop only using 85 watt ???? Is there a way we can use full power?? I want to buy this lap, but when I saw that Iin games will only work at 80.or 90, I got very upset
@@danielth9879 No idea. Its either wrong on the specs sheet, or the DB (dynamic boost) is working even worse than it normally works. So maybe it is supposed to be 85w +20DB, but as you can see it was only doing 85w. On to what you should buy- Not this.. Its an old subpar processor (my 11800H is better than it overall and can be undervolted easily), and a gimped 4070 which in it of itself is already considered one of the worst "midrange" graphic cards ever. Check out Jarrods review comparing it to the 3070ti. Your viable options are: 3070/3070ti at a good deal, 4080 if your budget can somehow afford it, 4060 if its full power and better priced, or from amd the 7600xt (we need a few more days/weeks for reviews on this, but it should be around as strong as the 4060/3070). Alternatively one can wait a few months for Amd to announce/release the 7700xt/7800xt for laptops. Those should both beat the 4070, and likely at a cheaper price (atleast the 7700xt).

Hi everyone, I have the same laptop and experience high frame latency causing random drops in FPS. I’ve noticed the GPU doesn’t seem to be reaching 105W however it is at 100%, I’ve overclocked the GPU on after burner and am very impressed with the general high FPS (90+ fps on recent AAA games on ultra settings) does anyone know any potential fixes to reduce the shutters? It may be that the CPU constantly rests between 30-40% despite the GPU running at 100%. Any suggestions would be great and I have installed all relevant drivers, GEFORCE Experience etc I also can’t seem to adjust the core voltage or fan speed of the GPU in afterburner, maybe it’s the MSI app that boosts performance I’d need to check
The 1% lows go to around 20fps, anyway to increase the fps so the stutters aren’t so bad and I’ll be happy
Check if vram is being maxed. Check if thermal throttling. Check if their are background applications hitting the cpu.

Upgrade to 4080 from 4070 is noticeable. Double the VRAM, more cores, and higher clock speeds. Also, more system memory at 32GB.

Power profile? Area of the game you are in? Try benchmarking the game with same settings I run and check FPS
@@GizmoSlipTech I tried hybrid mod and discrete graphic mod always in the benchmark and the result is always the same 65-80 fps. I thought it could be the game version or g. driver.

Because the cooling system is trash
at 1080p you're more likely to get CPU-bound, or at least high load on CPU, so no extra power budget for GPU Dynamic Boost.
Katanas have always been their thinner design so yeah the cooling is probably holding it back. But the numbers look darn good so thats lame it doesn't go higher.
@@fugginrambo probably because if Katana is too good then no one would buy the Pulse (basically a Katana with slightly better build quality, and much better screen + full power GPU)
You can only undervolt (HX) and (HK) CPUs from Intel now. They locked undervolting out of all 12th and 13th gen (H) chips. Pretty lame honestly overall since I definitely was able to undervolt my 4 year old 8750H laptop. Intel probably figures people will pay more $ for more tuning ability.
This common wisdom is usually correct. However there is actually a way to Undervolt even H class processors of the 12th/13th gen with Msi. Find a reddit thread titled "12700 can be undervolted? Msi guys found a way" which shows a screenshot of the instructions to use in the Bios.

@@jonathanr4160 Sure its not an ultimate solution. It is THE solution for people with Msi (or Xmg which enabled it as well) laptops though. There is no alternative for this if one wants the benefits of undervolting. I agree we have a lack of content on LLC undervolting. I'm trying to convince Gizmo to look into it on Reddit, but its admittedly not as "simple" as a regular Undervolt is.

@@vinirolaceta The most worthwhile thing you can do for a laptop. Just need to make sure your Cpu can be Undervolted (12th/13th gen "Hx" Intel chips can be Undervolted unless the manufacturer prohibits it (Acer). Zen 4 Dragon Range like the 7745Hx/7845Hx/7945Hx can be undervolted. Only the 7940HS from Zen 4 Phoenix can be undervolted. I have a 7840HS that sadly can't be Undervolted, but its still pretty amazing and Imo much better than anything from Intel). Gpu pretty much any Gpu can be Undervolted, it's pretty easy. Msi Afterburner is used for Nvidia Gpu's. One just needs to save the profile, and make sure that when windows boots it automatically loads the Gpu profile (I can direct one to videos showing how to do this, it's extremely simple). The benefits for Undervolting are enormous, especially on mobile devices. 1) Better Temps 2) Better Power Efficiency 3) Potentially higher performance due to being able to sustain higher clocks while consuming less power 4) Lower Fan Noise 5) More battery (if unplugged) 6) Less Overall Heat The list goes on and on. Undervolting is like Magic. It sounds too good to be true, but it's not. There is no downside to Undervolting (assuming one finds fully stable voltage. One can just be a bit conservative with the Undervolt and go to a point that is 100% stable). It also increases the longevity/lifespan of the chip (meanwhile Overvolting can potentially severely limit the life of Silicon). There is what's called the "Silicon Lottery". Some identically named chips are better than others. Some barely meet the threshold to qualify for the chip, and might only be able to do a modest undervolt (but it's still worthwhile). Average Silicon Lottery can get respectable Undervolts that will make a big difference. Chips that win the Silicon Lottery can do pretty extreme Undervolts that make it drastically better than a Stock chip. The reason Cpu/Gpu have a stock Voltage that is pretty "high" is so that even the absolute worst chips that qualify won't have any issues (and in the case of Gpu's, even bad Silicon Lottery ones can Overclock a bit, so the "Extra" base voltage is to account for that). Average Silicon Lottery chips can operate perfectly at lower voltages though, which is where Undervolting comes in.

Nah of course it shouldn’t be compared to 3060 it should be compared against 3070 so you can see if they actually improved the xx70 product, which they didn’t. You pay for a xx70 product, so you gotta expect performance that a xx70 product should give. Yeah they made a mistake by upping the number by 1 on each gpu. The 4090m should be the 4080m and the 4080m should be the 4070m and so on. The 4060 will be even worse than the 3060. And no the 4050 will not be better or on par with the 3060. While still paying over 1000. Nvidia is a joke. Amd forever for me. Laptops and desktops. I bought a 6600m laptop for 950€. Crazy good for the money. Better performance than 3060m and you get a nice laptop overall with the Legion 5. The best laptop from 2022 is the Legion 7 Amd advantage edition with 6700m or 6850m xt if you got the money. 3080ti you pay 1000+ more and it’s worse. Amd doesn’t rip of their consumers. Everyone buying a nvidia laptop is crazy and part of the issue they are selling the laptops for that high of a price.
And why do I wanna wait 2 years for 4070 laptops to be priced at 1000$? You can buy TODAY, a 6800M G15 advantage for 1000$ and it’s way better than the 4070/3070ti.
It obviously can be validly compared to 3060 and 3070 or 3070 ti, but both the 4070 and 3060 are the third best laptop gpu at launch, and they have been priced similarly at launch, so to me it makes more sense to focus on comparing the 4070 vs the 3060, because nvidia increased the name of each tiered laptop gpu by 10 this year. Not saying Nvidia is smart here. I’m just trying to see through the marketing bs to thr actual price vs performance delivered. Historically, it is almost always better buy previous gen products for price to performance. The tricky part this year is the benefit that Frame Gen will bring. Hard to quantify how many games will use it in the future.
@@GizmoSlipTech yeah I just think we need to see progress and getting more for the same money as time goes on. Not paying the same as 3 years ago for the same performance. Or even backwards. And I don’t know why everyone is so happy with frame generation. Hardware unboxed already showed that it looks awful in games, let alone the input lag that comes with it. It is never gonna be useful in multiplayer, single player maybe, if you can’t run the game without frame generation to get 60 fps. But at that point you already have a really weak gpu. And for single player you don’t need 120+ fps.
@@xruud24 the RTX 3060 came out 2 years ago, not three. And most of them was priced around 1500 or more. This thing crushes a 3060 in raw performance for the same money without frame gen. The 3070 ti is a viable option now because it is last gen on a fire sale because it is being replaced. I think a 3070 ti is a compelling option vs the 4070 for sure, especially if you mainly play competitive games and not singlr player. I will need to watch hardware unboxed video on it. I haven’t been able to tell that it was on when playing hogwarts, other than that the frame rate is much higher and getting smoother fps.
@@GizmoSlipTech if I remember correctly the best or one of the best performing 3060 was the legion 5 and that costed around 1300 and on a sale even less. Now the 4070 is priced between 1500 and 2500 and the cheapest model is the MSI katana for 1500 which uses a 100 watt variant and uses cheap components. If you want a high tdp 4070 with good chassis and screen your gonna need to pay around 2k. And the 3070 laptops also costed around 1800 to 2500$ since the beginning so I don’t really see any price/performance increase at nvidia.
