    • @@3DGladiator I have bought zbrush and tried to follow several tutorials, a book and even an udemy course... I could never get past the very beggining of everything was feeling frustrated and started to believe I was just not smart enough for 3D sculpting at all. Then I did a blender course and there was some sculpting in there, I could do some very simple stuff in blender but kept trying zbrush and failing to understand even the basic UI. I think it's crazy that no one has ever explained so well. Your video made me understand WHY the the UI is like it is and with that it unlocked the door to understanding how to use it. I mean, seriously, you did an amazing job, I gave up for months several times until I stumbled on your video (after wasting my time on so many others...). Thank you once again. I don't usually write this much on comments but this video was really a game changer to me and I think I have to tell you and everyone that comes by. Thank you sir, I really appreciate the work.

  • Those that disliked this, dude... WTF. This was literally what finally made me get into the software. Thanks so much. I literally feel like I can start to use this properly. I was always running away from zbrush because of those stupid square things that appeared every time you paint over the viewport. And I thought "this is for sculpting, what is this shit?" You explained things so well. Really. I mean zbrush still has kind of a weird UI and the commands are a little off compared to other 3D software, but now I understand the principles pretty well. I just need to get to translate sculpting into digital through the tool. Thanks, for real!

    • 😄...for those who dislike it, the tutorial was simply to long. Thank you very much Facundo for your comment and your kind words. I'm really glad I was able to help. Regarding the UI, you're right. It slowly becomes outdated by not being changed for more than 15 years now. Translating and combining software skills with actual sculpting skills is the hard part. Happy ZBrushing! Best, Ben

I have a question: I work from 3D scans primarily, and recently (it wasn't always like this) when I Dynamesh, the model seems to hollow out and the bottom of the base is see-through/missing. I Close Holes, but when I re-Dynamesh it happens again. Any ideas what's going on?

      @michaeldocherty9849@michaeldocherty98492 жыл бұрын
    • @@michaeldocherty9849 Hmm.. good question. Usually it shouldn't be this way. There is a "create shell" option in the Dynamesh menu, but that's not responsible for this issue. Have you checked the size of your model? I remember having the similar problems when the imported model was tiny or extremely large. Dynamesh does not work properly anymore then.

    • Thank you very much for watching and your comment! This means a lot to me. ZBrush is like any other application based on a unique concept and has its own history. The 2.5D concept made perfectly sense when you got in touch with ZBrush early on. But by adding new features over time and with all the great work artists were creating, this concept has been pushed into the background. As you can see, it's still absolutely crucial to understand the fundamentals. Without this knowledge, the way you approach things in ZBrush leaves you confused. Ignoring the 2.5d concept is usually the main reason why people complain about the UI and the handling.

  • I have owned ZBrush for many years and ploughed through tutorials from many reputable outfits. I like your style, mixing demonstration with off-software learning. Very good first principle. Good patience delivery with times of recap. I'm impressed. I also model with Houdini (it appeals to the inner geek in me), and many years ago I learnt Houdini from 3D Buzz. The main tutor sadly passed away but his teaching style was also very good if you fancy looking at another tutor I admired. Again he mixed software demo with presentation of background material. He also buddied up with a Novice who practised alongside the instruction which I think was just brilliant. I wish you well and look forward to more tutorials.

Man, you're just 2-3 heads better at presenting information and conveying the essence of things and explaining processes than most people who have done their tutorials. I really enjoyed how you broke things down. I had to pause and rewind a bunch but that is much better than waiting for something worth while to be taught. I really like how you explained the masking and well everything you went over. I finally feel I have a good base foundation to be able to start now with Sub divisions and why they are important. I am really excited now to start using all the new info you gave me. Thanks so much. Keep it up please.

  • This was easily the best training video (for ZBrush, Maya or Nuke) in any channel (KZhead, PluralSight etc.) what I have ever seen! I really loved your way to start from basics, explaining them (on a whiteboard) and also rehearse in the end of chapter what have we learned. You have designed the content very well and shared it to clear chapters. Learning curve increases fast enough and training ends with a good practical example. This course answered many or all challenges or problems what I had related to sculpting with a ZBrush and now I am ready to start to make my own models. Thank you very much! Keep on doing more this kind of super high quality courses! :)

  • Thank you for this valuable tutorial. Coming from Fusion 360 trying to get more into organic designs, this tutorial helped me so much to get a good dive into Sculpting and the things under the hood in general. I can highly recommend this tutorial for everyone who has watched already some beginners videos about ZBrush, but still feels like not to have the big picture. This video has solved so many "missing links" that I now feel much more confident to invest more time into the sculpting and the complexity of ZBrush. Great job.👍

    • Hi Bill, thank you very much for your comment and your kind words, this really means a lot to me! I'm glad it was helpful. Recently I watched parts of my tutorial again and I think it could be shorter and more informative on some points. My goal was to provide you with one single lesson in a way that you can pick up and use ZBrush for your projects in only a few hours. Regarding this, I'm not sure if my attempt was successful. But looking at the scope of things you can do with it, teach everything in a single lesson is probably impossible anyways.

    • @@3DGladiator For me personally I am into 3D for 20 years, never touched sculpting. I decided to do this year. I watched tutorials before yours, and the UI of Zbrush totally off tracked me, but was successful sculpting in Blender. Workflow wise ZBrush was confusing, dynamesh, vs subd's, vs remeshing or whatever else, the concepts of tools/subtools never resonated by watching other tutorials. This month I committed to learn it and I brought a license, then I watched your tutorial start to finish, which immediately helped me connect the dots. I would say agree you can't teach anything in a single tutorial, but you can help someone start by laying down the foundations, and that one the way you did it, it helped me tremendously to connect everything together, which is invaluable, and in my opinion you are very successful and to the point on your target. I wish myself to had watched this one first.
