You can drive up to 6 months on foreign license as a tourist from most countries and you need International drivers PERMIT if you are staying legally in the USA for more than 6 months and up to 1 year. After that you need local driving license that you can obtain based on your existing license or have to pass the written test and/or driving test depending what country you’re from.

I am a vehicle Inspector for the State of New Jersey and as long as the driver has a valid license of some type it is considered legal for us to accept it!!! These cops DO NOT know how the Law Operates!!! How did these guys become COPS!!!! All the Cops I have spoke to also accept some form a valid license. Although an International License is sometimes warranted buy the circumstances surrounding it most cops TRY not to make an issue out of it!!!!

Please do bear in mind that that sergeant’s only concern was protecting the system while covering for the jackbooted, order-following tyrant who confronted you where the rubber meets the road. This isn’t a matter of some officer who made an honest mistake requiring better “training,” rather this is a systemic problem. The sergeant knew exactly what the officer’s protocol was, and it’s only because you had the ability-the balls, the wherewithal, the financial resources and backing-to call out the tyranny that it ended as well as it did. Thank you for what you have done and (I hope) will continue to do. It’s not a rogue cop, it’s a rogue system.

Actually he is still legally allowed to ask for his passport and/or is international drivers license. He pulled him over for running a stop sign. We don’t get to see that video so we don’t know whether that occurred or not. The officer is just doing his job Edit: While yes a Canadian license is valid in the US, you are still subject to provide some other identification alongside that, or get an international license and not have to deal with that. The officer was still in the wrong however

One time my husband and his partner stopped a car that turned left on a red light. The street she was turning on to changed from a two way to a one way street. Cop pulled me over giving me much attitude. I gave him attitude back. He got me out the car and asked me what my issue was. I asked him what have I don't in our 2 min interaction that would justify him talking to me like that and why wouldn't I be pissed for being treated that why. He looked at me and said "you're right. I'm sorry." he gave me a ticket for my tail light. A week later I checked the status for a court date. He never put it into the system. 👍🏽🤘🏽
