  • Jojo, this is not morbid. I am a true believer that just as we plan for living… we also must plan for our passing. Kudos to you for planning ahead…just in case!!!

  • Every family/household should do this. I am in my 60s with no kids, and my partner lives separately. I am in the process of putting together a file of all my 'important' stuff to help those left behind when I am no longer around. It's not morbid, it's being practical. It makes things so much easier for whoever has to deal with your estate if there is something to work from, especially if they are not familiar with your home or why of life. It's called putting your affairs in order. PLUS it helps YOU to have a central place for Stuff!

  • This is very much needed! Since I have multiple planners, I needed a central place for important information so I used one of my journals a few years ago for all important details from insurance policy info, passwords, everything. Your notebook is beautiful!

  • I need to do this. I had a medical notebook when caring for my dad that had his medical history, test etc. It was very helpful for an emergency visit. Your brain isn't thinking clearly in a crisis, having information easily available.

  • I need to do this. I currently have everything in the back of my planner, but I have to copy it every year. I like this type of a permanent solution much better! Great way to do it. My husband hasn't paid a bill in 40 years.

  • things to add in your “other” area. A sweet note or memory that you would like share with each of your loved ones. It could be as simple as a handwritten recipe or a note. When my mom passed away and I was going through her papers I found a note she wrote to me on my wedding day (30 years ago) that she shared her thoughts and hopes for me in a sealed envelope with my name that said read when I’m gone. I love that it is handwritten

  • Have a medical section. Each family member had their own page. Include DOB, current medications, allergies, surgical history, as well as insurance information, PCP with their contact information, next of kin, and preferred hospital. My husband was in the hospital 143 days last year. He's been home five months but he's been in the ER three times since he's been home. Being able to give ambulance attendants that sheet is incredibly helpful. I don't have to think in the middle of an emergency and worry about forgetting something. Also have a home ER list including your address and contact number, insurance carrier and contact number and policy number, emergency numbers for poison control, PET poison control, vet information, pet information, after hours pet er hospitals, drs numbers, pharmacy numbers, plumber and electrician.

  • For your "Other" section you could add a pocket - use one of those plastic sleeves and keep important receipts in. I.E - couch, fridge, computer, etc. I really like those dividers, might have to stop at hobby lobby myself. Just hope they're still on sale! lol

  • I have been working on one of these books for sometime. For your bills section I would suggest starting with a Bill Tracker showing which bills are due for every month. This would show if they were monthly, quarterly, bi-annual or annual. You could then go into details about account details and payments on later pages.

  • Love this; it is a very smart move. Doing the same thing for my son. As far as passwords, I have everything in an Excel spreadsheet that I then save, whenever I edit it, in a PDF so I can print it to fit the classic. The file on my computer is password protected in case my laptop should ever disappear.

  • It’s a necessity. I’m 70 years old and I have been thinking about the same thing and trying to come up with a good way to do. Thank you for sharing this. 😊 It made it easier for me to deal with this subject. I’m dealing with chronic illness and doctor/nurses are always asking “if something happens to you what are your wishes if your unable to speak or make a decision yourself? Is there someone you want to decide for you? This is a good way to approach it.

  • I love this! I've seen premade folder books called what to know when I'm gone. But I like how personal you can make this. I would even add some important pictures of the family to keep them safe. My only OCD thing is to me. You put the words on the tabs upside down. If the folder was in a file cabinet, you would see what I mean. Like I said, it's my OCD does anyone feel the same? Keep the ideas coming!

  • Omg I thought about the same thing. I don’t think it’s morbid at all. It’s so necessary, especially in houses like ours where hubby takes care of certain things while I take care of others. And if something, God forbid, happens to both of us, our parents or siblings will be able to know the information they need to help take care of our kids. So, thanks for sharing because this motivated me to get on my home binder that I started and never finished 😩😂.

  • ...and costs a small fortune to set up and keep updated I'd bet. Let me guess, you came up with this "system" yourself and if we go to this site and use a code, we get a "discount." Yeah, no, not a fan. I have a file folder labeled "This is yours" with important info, everything from how to contact my investment people to the power company and when, and what the pets eat and when and how to give them their meds, what to tell them to contacting my attorney first. When it needs updating I just edit one page and print. Much cheaper than all that. My son is NOT going to want to carry something like that around with him.

    • Good for you! Some people like to make the mundane things look a little more fun and beautiful. If simple is your style, there is NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. It is ok for those who want theirs to fit their style and if that means making it look a little nicer than plain paper and adding a couple of fun stickers or decorations, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT EITHER. Good thing its not up to one person to decide. Have a nice day 💜
