I find life very exciting and challenging so I have no wish for that long dirt nap. But I know the day will come, and like these ladies, I just hope it is swift and while I'm asleep. If people are inspired by these women because maybe they have got themselves in a rut, who are you to question it and try and put people down? You obviously have never needed to be inspired by anyone, but equally you are incapable of realising not everyone is you.

  • There are two very important lessons in this film. #1: It is vital to know whose opinions truly matter, and, just as important, whose opinions do not matter. #2: Have a reason to go on, to get out of bed. A motivation to be alive. These are two things that are important at any age, but for most of us, it takes a lifetime to remove the superficial layers, to reveal the solid bedrock of our souls.

I wish that I could claim, completely, the concept as my own, but, in truth, there is a long line of influence, from the authors Sir Terry Paycheck and Quentin Crisp to many other sources so far back in my past that it's all a hazy mist. But then, that's life, isn't it? We encounter something that, like flint on steel, strikes a spark in us, then it is up to us to nurture that spark that grows into a flame that warms our soul.

These women are paving the way to the old but not quite seen and believed ideology that the age is no match to the spirit. Being 80 and above doesn't mean you have to be old on your rocking chair. It's about keeping your spirit youthful without being childish. It's about not stopping life just because you are a certain age. It's about living and living fully no matter the age. I'm going to start exercising now coz they make me so ashamed about how agile they are compared to me and I'm only 47. I'm really amazed and inspired by how they maximize their lives. ❤️

I am so proud of my thrift store treasures - the kids have no idea what's valuable or why - and I find wool, cashmere, linen clothes and hand made leather bags (no logo, so a mystery for the kids) for a steal... At 63, I still wear leggings and mini skirts and lots of color- I gave up my car and I walk/bus everywhere. I'm in great shape and nothing like my mother and grandmothers, who all gave up at the age of 50 and became old women. They can keep their old lady ideals and their pharmaceuticals for themselves!

In contrast, I dress every day as if I'm going to a special event and it amuses and pleases folks who come up to me and comment on my Mohawk and look -- I think it brightens their day after seeing all these murky earth tones. This story inspires me to go even further -- got to give it some thought to dress with more even pizzazz!

Baseball caps on women weren't in style while I was growing up. Lolol! Even when I dress casually I still feel overdressed where ever I go because I'm not in work out gear. Haha! These women in the video inspire me too, as I'm sure you inspire people where you live to rethink the hiker look.

And as I live in a university town there are many thrift stores in which to get some really interesting clothes for cheap -- when I tire of them I donate them back -- then they launder them and resell them -- it's like clothing rental -- lots of fun. And unlike my days in Manhattan I almost never wear black anymore.

As our populations age, I see a real need for something more than glossy magazines like Vogue that views itself as inspirational - but it’s obvious their target market is largely younger people. There should be a magazine for older women - everyday women, those with an inspirational life, gifted women who have had or are still enjoying interesting lives. • This is truly one of the most marvelous documentaries I have ever watched, and I'm so very thankful to have found it! All of these women were inspirational, stylish, charming, full of warmth & humor, and beautiful souls, inside and out! Each of the women has such tremendous, uplifting, and storied lives! Beautifully told!

  • Thank you so very much for this deeply moving & reflective video. Thank you for pulling back the veil on senior lifestyles, expectations, and bringing to the forefront REALITY. Happy to not see these ladies with their eyes glued to a smart phone/tablet, but living life.

  • Thanks so much, I remember this documentary first time round - must be about 10 years ago (I just looked it up and I was spot on, it debuted in 2013). How many of these fabulous old broads are still alive? Sadly I know Jean Barker, Baroness Trumpington died in 2018 at the astonishing age of 96, and choreographer Gillian Lynne (87 in this), left us the same year aged 92.

  • I watched this TWICE IN A ROW! Absolutely mindblowing. These women are absolutely fabulous. SUCH an inspiration. Of course they all are lucky to be so so so mentally sharp.....this is what makes all the difference and this is unfortunately not given to all of us. What I noticed is that 4 of the 6 had superslim bodies. I think that does definitely play a role in how they maintained their physical AND their mental vitality. I am going to do more of what these women do daily from now on.

  • What inspiring women these are! Loved hearing everyone of their stories. I’m 68, have had hip replacementments in both hips and survived bowel cancer, and I value every day and refuse to let age interfere with my life!

  • "By the time you'll have reached the 8th decade, you will have survived all the ups and downs life throws at you"! Wonderfully encouraging documentary. Thanks ! 👌🌟 I still have lots of decades to go, but I find that phrase, "to have survived all the ups and downs", already valid in my case! 👍😉 From now on all must be smoother, more kind, properous in abundance and easy going. 🙏😃

  • Loved it. Interesting people remain interesting no matter how old. Actually, maybe become more and more interesting. I am 80 and don’t feel old, though I don’t look like I remember myself. But then I remind myself that it’s just the way it is and nobody looks that way. Nobody cares much except we do. I do. But I won’t be unhappy about it, it’s not worth it.

  • Absolutely one of the best videos on aging! I'm 76, don't feel 76 and try every day to not let 76 in! I stole that from Clint Eastwood! Lol! He was asked what it felt like to be 91, he said every day when he gets up, he doesn't let 91 in, so he doesn't know what 91 feels like....I think that statement is very appropiate to repeat for this video! None of these ladies pay a minute of attention to their ages and neither do I. Why should we conform to what society suggests where and what our place is....Don't like what I have on....don't look! Thank you to all these lovely ladies who shared their wisdom, fashion and if lucky enough to still be of reasonable health, how to put aging behind us!!

  • “Im not going in the scrap heap”…right! I get the feeling that these women took care of themselves (especially their flexibility) to some degree and that is a huge part of vigor and beauty. People rave over my clothes (all charity shops) and style but I just find it fun. I always lay out my clothes the night before too. I’m not necessarily eccentric but I’m usually more “dressed” than others, wherever I go. I’m only 61 but I consider dignity a necessity, which includes style and fun, not the opposite! I love good style and excellent lines are indispensable for looking great. I’ve learned from many other elegant people in my life, and I’m really grateful.

  • That stark image, at min. 28.39, where people are walking along the sidewalk, all in drab colors, except for this one woman. Makes most of the others look like they are walking to a funeral. Sad statement of our times. Her inner soul is joyous and she is not afraid to show it.❤️
