Sir Stirling Moss' legendary Mille-Miglia winning Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR arrives in London at the Royal Automobile club and Westminster Abbey for a special memorial service, with the likes of Rowan Atkinson, Richard Hammond, Jackie Stewart and many more motoring legends all in attendance.
2017 Goodwood, I met Sir Sterling Moss and saw that car! All the cars are amazing but that blue Ferrari was sexy as hell.
The blue Ferrari is absolutely fantastic!
That 722 might be the most expensive car ever
but is not for sale like also other special cars. Porsche will never sell his 356 No.1, Mercedes this 722, other companies or big museums there special historic cars from there collection.
Or perhaps Nick Masons 250 GTO.
No, that'll be my old Renault 18 estate -- the most expensive car ever! :0)
Mercedes recently sold one of their 300 SLR’s from its private collection for $142 million,The estimated value of the one Sterling Moss raced is nearer to $400million so there was a lot of money parked right there on the streets of London….
@@cutoverpark9596 Stirling.
I watched Moss win his 7th TT at Goodwood in 1961 driving 7SPA... what a beautiful car.
When I grow up,I want to be that man who gets pushed around in fabulous cars👍
Your bottom has to be specially trained before you're allowed to sit in one. 🤭
Your bottom has to be specially trained to be a poof but the country’s full of them
💩
I was at the memorial service, it was a fabulous service and it was wonderful to see 722 there amongst the collection, quite a treat. Sir Jackie's speech was as humorous as it was poignant.
Who passed away?
We treat these cars like Ming Vases. Sir Stirling mercilessly wrung the life out of them God bless him. He could drive anything.
i liked the bit where the mercedes guys from Stuttgart spoke in their broad swabian accent......they know what they're doing...... these cars are usually exhibited at the mecedes benz museum in Stuttgart Untertürkheim....well worth a visit.
Beautiful cars. Was happy that I saw them in the Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart.
Thanks This The Great Car Channel ! Hello From Finland !
Absolutely stunning!
Breathtaking…
Legendary stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The “old boy”would have loved this.A fitting tribute to one of the titans
I remember Sir Stirling at Le Mans Classic in a D type some years back ( a more patriotic drive) still fast still didn't want to stop brilliant skills even in old age.
Unfortunately was unable to get inside the barriers as I missed the setting up outside the Abbey. However, the cars looked beautiful and to be bathed in the first real sunny day in weeks was the icing on the cake. Well worth heading down for a look see on the day.
nice to see bean looking well..x
I’ve sat in that car. Amazing
You are a lucky man, to be that close to those beauties...well, you are consistently lucky, amazing cars are your environment.
Get 'em up the Goodwood hill! Straw bales and flint walls are good for ya! 😁
everybody missed the gorgeous grey/green Bristol parked in the street ?
on croit rever quand on assiste à celà....😊😊😊😊❤❤
Just imagine seeing the cars being parked along the street whilst on your way to work.. I'd probably break my neck with how quickly I'd turn around
Fyi. Here in my great country England we do not call them 'race' cars as that is American. What they are correctly called are 'Racing' cars. Please get it right here in your commentary. Accuracy is key in history.
Beside all these fancy people. The real stars were the cars. 😊😊😊
Beautiful presentation. 722 👍🏆
Nice Bristol parked at 004
Oh my gosh ... I wish I'd known ..
A memorial service for whom?
And, as a bonus, a very nice Bristol 411 parked in Pall Mall at the beginning.
WOW
You know there's going to be some shenanigans going on when Mr Beans shows up
❤
Some moneys worth there
Saw S Moss at Goodwood a bit doddery but different chap once in the car !
Sweaty palms for the insurance company - neat to see, thanks
I Have SeenThese Running at Goodwood With Jochen Mass Driving Them,I Wonder Why They Can Not Make Cars Now That Look As Good ????
One word ... regulations!
Bean counters also, and apologies to Mr Bean!
Today, CAD! Paper, pencil and freehand in those days!
They should all be wearing gloves, these are works of art
Exactly! I was thinking the same.
How do you get a heads up on stuff like this ?
Depends on the situation but was very kindly invited by the RAC to this one
@@TFJJ nice one 👍
the Ferrari started ,, neither of the MB did,,,
Display only, no engines 😂
Saw the title and was just about to watch it then I read 'Richard hammond' and left it!
Well said.
@1m0s Cringe when they blindly take the osf wheel near the kerb - no one is looking!! :(
Outside the Bugatti (Black Car) thats for the foreseeable future the most expensive car in the world
its all about the racing history and the bugatti „voiture noire“ has none🤷🏼♂️
@@ArianOriginal21 yeah but its “lost” so if its ever “found” it would eclipse this probably.
They used to travel at 150mph without care, now they travel at 0.5mph with assistance. Sad sight to see
Just as well the... Rain did........ not............... . Appear*
the mercedes supposedly was and is still going for the aston martin taking their shapes and the silver colour, and now with the new mercedes model AMG GT 2024 with the same shape of the aston martin DB12.....
lol, the Mercedes W 194 shapes comes partly from Ferdinand Porsche office and the silver was never a Aston Martin color. Before Porsche founded his own car company in 1948, he had a construction design company that developed cars for Daimler/Mercedes, Audi/Wanderer, Volkswagen, Zündapp, etc. Before WW2 each country have a color for there cars. French blue, British green, German white, Italian red, etc. Silver becomes Mercedes color because of a race series from 1934. Was the "750kg series" and the Mercedes W25 (Porsche development) weight 751kg with the white painting. Then they sanded off the white paint and it only weighed 750kg. The Silberpfeil was born and also the color from Mercedes.
@@muratti72muc ¿and you saw the mercedes wiesmann? copied from the british morgan
£300m phew I feel so Broke with my last £17m😪😪😪😂😂

Do they do it in any other colour than silver? There are too many silver cars on our roads, it’s common.
national racing color for Germany...they were silver first
How dare you...
@@steves9905 ( "silver" ? ) No! It changed 1934. Please read above.
Race car or racing car? Hmmmm
My dad had a 300SL Roadster but he sold it when he got married because his new father-in-law said it was 'impractical'.
" ...... he sold it when he got married because his new father-in-law said it was 'impractical'." Viel klüger wäre gewesen, er hätte genau deshalb eine andere geheiratet!°
Why does the 722 look like it was painted on by a amateur
It has no paint. It's the pure metal surface that you see.
Sterling Moss, as brave as a lion, but never won a world championship. his greatest victory was of in Italy 1955. Another British driver who is hardly ever mention John Surtees, Formula One world, championship driver and seven times world championship motorcycle?
Where Jeremy Clark’s on,and James at am Richard Hammond, gitmo
Pinagsasabi mo?! HAHAHAHA
Shame they're being shown in 'car hating' London. 😞👎
Esslingen nummernschild 😂
He is dead in 2020
Whilst i enjoy and appreciate classic autos ar this level it seems like a pointless indulgence
Roman Atkinson….bit of a plonker really.
no1 cares about these benz hahaha
It’s a lump of metal…. only the entitled can enjoy it…..👎👎🇬🇧
Typical marxist..😂
The cars are engineering supremacy and such things of beauty. Even if a non car enthusiast or lover of automobiles, anyone would admire the sheer elegance of this shiny machines. As for most of the “celebrities” nah not one bit interested. People are people and serve no interest to me.
