I'm so excited for this episode, it was definitely a lot to take on! What would you call this? My walk-in closet / basement / landing area? It has a lot of cool structural details, so it was such a fun challenge to use them as a part of the design! This makeover has lots of DIY’s and hacks (and maybeeee even some stolen items 👀 ). I really strived to make this makeover affordable, and one of the things I did to achieve that was making over my stairs by myself, which was a lot of work and brain power LOL! This makeover spans from May 2020 to now so you already KNOW there is lots to catch you guys up on! My closet was literally a HOT mess, so I had to turn it into a closet that is manageable, beautiful and practical (don’t judge me from the before thoughhhh 😅). I also take on a lot of DIY projects throughout the process. I had this crazy idea to make a fabric sconce…I had this vision but there was nothing like it on the market so I used some things from around the office to make it! I also made a DIY vase inspired from one I saw online out of polymer clay and even found a solution for window privacy. It took a long time to get the aesthetic assembled the way I wanted but I am SO happy with how it turned out. What’s your favourite part?

Thanks Vessi - click here www.vessi.com/sorrygirls and use my code SORRYGIRLS to get $25 off of your shoes. I've been loving my Vessi's when I go outdoors, water my plants, or even just for day to day errands! 😍
I've literally been looking for cute waterproof sneakers, this feels like fate 👀
I love it! The white really works since it's in the basement, and the room has lots of organic/natural elements to it. The pops of bold colors really help, too.
The shoes sound great. Would love to know what shipping to Toronto is like if anyone has ordered them.
Ok, I guess my mind is in the gutter. That white vase thing hanging on the wall looks like a p@*is to me and now I can't unsee it lol......sorry...hahaha
The link for the Mirror/clothing rack takes you to the vase. I need that mirror/rack to hang my “not yet dirty enough to wash clothes”
Side note, but would anyone else love a "meet the crew" episode? I feel like there's so many new people working there now and would love to see/learn more about them!
SAME! I hope they do this when it's safe to have everyone back in the office!
Would love this too! But the OGs, Daniella and Justin have been in several videos where you learn a bit about them.
@@astrocutie37 I don't think we have to wait for that really. Even just a minute long clip each of them films introducing themselves would be fine!
Cute idea! I know a few names & faces just from random videos, but not everyone.
AGREED!
Is anyone else wondering how the heck they kept all this film organized for a year for each episode of making home??!?!!?!!!
Yes! I need some tips for the the filing system 😅
No.
saving all the clips asap in a separate file and start the name of each clip with the date. that should help a lot :)
Exactly! I even said that on the previous Making Home ep, poor editors 😅
An amazing team who stays on top of everything?
Kelsey: doesn't love the size and black surrounding of the mirror Also Kelsey: buys an identical mirror with even more black detailing 😆
I liked the first one better, the second mirror feels too small for me? I'm glad Kelsey has the one she likes best tho!
I agree, the first was beautiful and took up less space too. Odd.
Haha I thought the same
Oh my gosh i was totally thinking the same thing! Haha
I though the same lol
When Kelsey is about to do the plaster, looks awkward, a tiny bit helpless, and says "oVeRwHeLmEd" that right there is hella relatable. 😆
Hi, I don’t want this to come off as rude but I have been told that saying “my spirit animal” can be offensive. So I just wanted to pass on the message and ask that you refrain from using the phrase and maybe just say that you relate or that you felt that. If that makes sense. Again, I hope this didn’t come off as rude. I just wanted to pass on the info.
gotta keep it real with the Sorry Girl fam
@@rachelbowlow9925 oh my. Thank you for the education I will edit the comment!
@@rachelbowlow9925 this sent me on a deep dive in different articles and it was eye opening, i learned a lot. Thank you!
Facts!
Girl, don’t sell yourself short. You did GREAT! It isn’t too white. It’s perfect with all that texture. Loved every bit of this.
I agree. And I'm not fond of all white spaces. But here, it works. If you feel like you need more color, add some orange and green accessories. I feel like there's room on the wall with the little flower pocket.
I think it’s important to note though that this is clearly the start of early 00s home decor coming back in to fashion and that is objectively a bad thing
Right! So good 🔥🔥
I love the honesty of how you keep things affordable and on budget 😂 it’s very helpful for us broke babes
But also the fact that she told us she went OVER budget for the railing! Keeping it affordable but most importantly, realistic!
I was so convinced the embroidery hoop would snap straight, I'm impressed though
Right?! It was suspenseful
Ok, but, that topey/brown outfit you wear towards the end, and your hair and makeup ✨chef's kiss✨
and the mask? so cute
We love a monochromatic look!
taupe 🤎
😙👌
yeeahh, that outfit was bomb. she looked like a chic caramel snac! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Kelsey: Green and orange look really nice together Me: looks at my burnt orange bed cover and sage green feature wall with pride
BAHAH SAME
It's not too white at all in my opinion! I think you added so much texture and lovely colors in the decor that it completely works with the whites in the space. - and omg I'm so curious to see how long you will keep postponing painting the door lol -
I think Kelsey decided to keep the bathroom door "worn" for the vibe!
@@vivianasanchez9424 white it needs to be-- but lots of texture and depth and that bench grounds it. Good ooh
What about a mirror on your dressing table and a stool/chair to sit on so you’ll have a place to do your makeup? Love the plasterwork and the floating mirror with backlighting!
Toni, that's probably the sort of things she is hoping to thrift when the world opens up. ;)
Good thinking, although she does do her make up in the vanity of her luxurious bathroom!
She could place the bigger mirror horizontally for the dressing table. 😄
imagine Becky's DIY mirror in this space
Looks stunning, love the mirror with the lights, love the bench in the middle, it looks so cozy and high scale at the same time. Rachel pegged it, looks like a fancy hotel. And I LOVE the white- any other color would feel too dim in the basement. Also- this is my favorite series, please never stop with these.
And y'all recognize the bench, right? From the office entry/boot area before the great thrifted cream seating set came in. Talk about use whatcha got. Extra points to reusing and making do while the lock down limits travel, sales, etc. And then once you see it there, it's fabulous!
i audibly GASPED when kelsey turned on the smart led lights behind the mirror, it’s gorgeous!
Am I the only one thinking about how hard it must be to organize all the making home clips since they span over a year?
Some well labelled folders would do the trick!
im wondering if shes says the date and room at the top of the clip that they cut out...
i've been wondering about this too hahaha
Also a note to the editors: I love the voice wave graphic you used when Kelsey's friend was in the phone.
Rachel looks and sounds so nice and friendly. She is almost def an introvert type of person, who you want to be around.
I think this is my favourite “room” in your home! It’s so resourcefully created and it looks good and functions beautifully. Well done, Kelsey!
The way I wait for thesorrygirls to upload 😩👏🏽
"i havnt watered you in a while why are you doing so good???" ask my plants this all the time. turns out we suffocate them with water, oops.
and then i don’t water them for four days and they die
Lol just learning this the hard way !
That plaster wall looks SO GOOD! The whole space does but I really love the look of the brick & plaster.
Paint is actually really bad for brick as it prevents expansion and makes the brick crumble even more. You should always lime wash brick. Lime is a mineral that allows the bricks and mortar to expand and contract over time without damage.
That makes sense for exterior brick thats exposed to the rain and snow and temperature changes outside. Will be a problem in the indoor stairwell? I don't know anything about brickwork.
@@lenah.5627 yes, it would because it's more about the humidity in the air than actaul water. The deterioration might not be as bad, but probably part of the reason it's crumbling already is because it's been painted or covered incorrectly before. Once the paint starts to peel it will begin to take pieces of the brick and mortar with it, because all ithe moisture has been leeched out of it.
Paint rated for masonry use is fine inside or out
So desperate to find a vintage paint by numbers like that wow I’m obsessed
I liked this very much. I do not mind "whitnes" of it, it is basement and imo you have two options going all white or embracing its lack of light and go super dark.
I always question Kelsey's choices but it's always turn out amazing. This home is really lovely.
you're both so pretty I can't-
I love this space! Glad the bench from the office found a good home :P The dressing table/drawers situation needs a cute stool and a mirror so you can sit and do your makeup there if you feel like it, though.
Always excited for a Making Home episode!!!
Wow I love it! I am so impressed with your visualization power. I mean, looking at the reno before I wouldn’t think the space could be used in this way. Congratulations really! You've done an amazing job! 👏🏽
Another fantastic job, Kelsey! I can honestly say I have never even considered painting a room white but white is exactly the colour for your basement. It's bright & clean and a wonderful backdrop for everything else you add. Not boring at all.
This has got to be the only channel that reliably alerts me ON TIME when a video comes out!
It didn’t notify me 😔
@@Offical_Ash_Marie 🫂 There, there. 😔
Not me... Sometimes it'll notify me a day later. Crazy.
That dye Kelsey is using reminds me of a certain TSG star..... he's furry and the goodest boy :)
Danny has finished making his influence in Becky's decor and is now showing up at Kelsey's LOL!
I really like that the light you made adds color and texture to the space! As well as the rugs :)
Don’t doubt yourself! I love the white. When you’re getting ready, you want to be the focus not the walls😆
Rachel really feels like a perfect fit with the team. I really like her!!
I like that's it's all white. You brought in colour through all the final touches and this keeps everything bright and airy.
i live in a 2 bed basement suite and honestly i’m floored by this transformation! this is literally goals
When Kelsey was trying to throw it back I was like why don’t you do the ooh oh oh transition then boom she did😂😂
I would do everything to one day live in a home that looks as perfect as this. I swear, I had a tear in my eye at the reveal, haha. Love how every room looks just stunning at the end!
I LOVE!!! The white keeps the basement nice and bright and fresh! If I would add anything to the space, I MIGHT wallpaper the ceiling? Or add like, a handpainted floral ceiling a la victorian ladies sitting room?? Something lovely and neutral enough that it doesn't overwhelm the lower basement ceiling?
The dresser unit is actually legit! The floating mirror, with the LED light?! Omg obsessed! And the bench that you got from the office... Simply perfect Sara Nena DIY
Let’s go shopping in the Sorry Girls office 💁🏻♀️
"I know is really white" Yep, I think it looks amazingly white!!!
What I realllly like about this series is how realistic it is for one person to make over their own space. Picking the best piece to match the overall look and fit the budget and size etc. All these decisions take TIME. I’ve been decorating my space over the past 10 months and I’m still working through it. I appreciate the realness. Beautiful work too!
It must be hard in terms of wall colour I agree it would be tough to do half wall or full length without losing light. Could you keep the white walls but bring in more texture down there like add more plaster effect walls? Love what you have done so far by the way x
I was really hoping you would put a stone/marble slab as the countertop for your cabinet dresser situation! Like a black or grey marble stone
Why would she spend that type of money for something that is only temporary until she gets her custom unit?
I love how every little space is coming together in your little home, I live for these episodes to come out!!
So good Kelsey! I love how you get inspired and are determined to execute your vision!
I like the white. Only way to go in such a dark space, IMAO.
I love the concept of this space: large space to get dressed for the day near the bathroom. I don't remember any shopping prepping of the pocket door in the bathroom episode. Will have to go back to look for that. I love pocket doors.
Yayyyyyy excited, thanks for making my day better this is exactly what was needed.
Totally agree! That painting is totally awesome and everything turned out so cool!
I just started this video but I gasped when you did the sponsor. I love Vessi's I have multiple pairs and they are so worth it!!
Best upload time ever! The videos always upload after I get to work but it finally uploaded where I could watch this while getting ready for work on a Tuesday. Thank you Sorry Girls!
Obsessed with the making home series 💗
Love how things bsically came together in your dressing makeover
I love this one! The mirror, the stair area, and just everything is awesome.
OH MY GOD I HAVE BEEN REFRESHING MY SUBSCRIPTION BOX ALL DAY AND IT FINALLY IS HERE!! the instagram countdown thing for this vid went off this morning so i panicked cz the vid wasn't up. BUT IT IS NOW SO ME HAPPY
Can't wait for entire house tour 😍
truly one of my favorite series you guys have done. i loooove seeing the progress on your personal spaces
I love how bright it is despite it being a basement I love your choice in painting it all white. And nice flipping job on that plaster/brick wall, queen!
kelsey this is so amazing! you are such an inspiration for me, i want to buy a multi unit home and live there/rent it and i just love watching you live the dream!! it’s turning out so beautifully.
Lol I initially thought Rachel’s boiler suit was an outfit but after seeing many videos with her wearing I understand that it’s probably more of a uniform to avoid getting dirty 😅 Still cute though
Happy birthday Becky 😍.. kelsey ur home series is so amazing 🤩...love u team sorry girls 🥰🥰😘
i really love how it turned out.. good job kelsey ..hope i can have the good vibes for my future house too
This is amazing!!! The fact that you shopped items you already had on hand shows that any thrifted finds would have just added to the space but not made the space 💖 This is such a beautiful Dressing Room. But I would call it the Beauty Room 😍
Tbh I wasn’t convinced when you said this would be your walk in closet, but I LOVED this!!
Love this renovation!!! So beautiful! I was smiling the whole time I watched. Awesome job!!
Im so happy to see the progress of your home makeovers its actually making me emotional, im glad i was here to see every reno of this house
“Why didn’t I do this sooner?” - Every DIYer, ever I felt that Kelsey!
This turned out amazing. I just love your aesthetic. It's unusual and it looks rich in design and style. Great job Kelsey 👍
Your house, and everything you touch, turns into a beautiful masterpiece!!!!
was waiting for this w my tea and snacks ♥️♥️♥️
"You know what is a better transition? *sounds i cant describe*" your editor must've been like wtf is she talking about hahahaha
This episode was a joy to watch😊. Love the homemade wall sconce, both how you just jumped in and how it turned out. The white suits the space very well.
I think this is one of my favorite making home episodes! This is so serene and such a nice space to start and end your day 🥰
Naked lady in full glory! Artsy grandfather, creativity runs in your family.
I wonder if doing like a folding design like pleating or something might work better for the sconce?
i’m OBSESSED with this. your style and visions are so inspirational
The room is definitely NOT too white. I think because it’s in the basement, white makes it bright and airy and feel big and spacious. Loved how you incorporated a darker wood stain on the frame and color in the decor! Helps balance the white. Great job! Came out beautiful.
Was anybody else SHOOK when Kelsey said her best friend was someone other than Becky?! 😂 Incredible work, Kelsey!
OMG! YES~!
this space is so beautiful! also have they ever properly introduced rachel?
Absolutely love the white aesthetic. It so works for the space. Gorgeous work!
It looks Amazing! Really it's just beautiful, all the speacial items you included. With so much thought & preparation are what makes it Amazing!
I am living for rachel's jumpsuits and need to know where she gets them (hoping they're not super expensive)
I wish that this series will never end! I’d love to see how the spaces change over time!
Love the white brick and the plaster! love the look!! And yes, def want to meet all crew behind the scenes. I heart the Sorry girls!
I love this space so much and I think you've done an amazing job at making the space feel open and bright. One of my fav parts is the plaster on the brick, it looks so real and I love that look. It's hard to believe its a basement. 💛💛💛💛
what can’t you do!!? the gold handles, the floating mirror with led strips, the PLASTER ON THE WALL *cries in perfect*
New Sorry Girls episode + mittens + hot cocoa =
a vibeee
Omg I watched them while drinking hot cocoa too!
I LOVE THE PAINTING, AND THE LIGHT, AND THE MIRROR!!! Kelsey you have outdone yourself 🥰🥰🥰
Thanks for keeping it real, Kelsey! I totally related to living with a space/ a piece of furniture/ a wall when you're decorating or renovating and giving yourself the time to actually understand and learn what you need. And giving yourself permission to change your mind! Love that. It's such a freeing philosophy, in design and in life too. Thank you! ❤
Lol I cannot tell you how many times I've knocked off my string of hearts... I had one propagating and my husband was in the middle of a zoom interview he ran into one of the vines & dumped the water all over him. 😆🤦♀️🌿
The whole time I thought you were saying Bessi instead of Vessi 🤣
😂😂
I love your confidence, creativity and hardwork. It's a treat watching your transformation every single time. You come up with new ideas every single time which is super exciting !!
I love this makeover!! 😍 The lamps, the painting, the new "desk" unit. Everything is so perfect together 👌❤️
Its my birthday today! New making home episode is a great gift!!
Happy Birthday Hannah!
Happy birthday 🥳
Hi, have a blessed birthday! ❤️
I was thinking about the shoes while watching shorts of watering plants "why she is wearing a shoes for watering in bathroom" now I get it.....
Yes!! Same!!
Oh my god I love this room. It reminds me of the house my auntie lived on Arizona. She had a pretty modern house for the early 2000s and she had a really minimalist rustic vibe. I absolutely love it
I loves that your dressing is so white. For me is calming bright (qualities required in basement) and it's a blank canvas where you could add colors, decors etc..
