  • I think your best bet for the flight suit is to sew on the details using different color cloth. Looking at the source material, it actually looks like the orange is the extra cloth sewn onto a chacoal gray base suit. It looks like they're intended to something like wear points, where the suit will rub and chafe against the interior of the power armor, while offering lighter layers for joints like under the arms. It also looks like there's a grey patch on top of the orange patch on the chest to provide a secure rigging point for a harness of some kind. Additionally, it looks like there are connections points for hoses for a climate control unit to keep the wearer cool underneath all that clothing and armor, which, is pretty realistic because you'd *need* something like that in order not to overheat.

    @isaacschmitt4803@isaacschmitt480311 ай бұрын
    • Sewing extra stuff on would prolly look nicest, but could always bleach the design then dye those parts. Might help it not need the climate control! Or perhaps sew some lines after you dye it.

It'd be the only way to get clean lines that way and you could even get the little black lines. if you want the orange to be a little less bright, you can partially stain your suit with coffee grounds! it won't cover the orange like dye would and (with oxyclean) it could be restored to full brightness too. I hope you have a wonderful time at your con! :)

I wouldn't bother with dye unless you're going for an overall change. For things like those dark stripes, good quality masking tape (the old school 3M beige stuff) and multiple light coats of Krylon can give you results as good as screen printing.

  • For the clothing detail, maybe try the stuff they print t-shirts with. Which you can cut out and heat-press into the fabric.

  • I've got a few ideas on how to make the flight suit. To make the black stripes on the suit you could use electrical tape, though that could be a bit uncomfortable, so another option is black elastic bands that could be sewed on. Also to make the groin protector you could use one of the masks that construction workers use or other similairly shaped item. My last idea is for how to make the neck piece on the suit. You could cut up a big round tupperware lid to use. Hope this helps!
