One day I will go to a good country and make a super off road truck like this,it is a big dream that I have at the top of my life❤❤❤😊😊😊 from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰❤️🥰
Keep the dream alive!
@@roadtripangler definitely My friend 😊❤️ thanks so much ❤️😊
I can see the ball joints going out as the truck sits there! lol
Well so far so good with 120k miles 🤞
Dialed in! Love the camp kitchen drawer at 12:50 too cool
Thanks! I am stoked with my setup!
Thanks that was great, I'm looking at getting a truck and pop-up camper
Your welcome!
That’s a perfect set up for what you do. Super nice. The savings on motels is enormous I know. Paid for itself in probably the first month.
Thanks! Yea I don’t like have to worry about the gear either. Would rather sleep with it lol.
Really nice rig. All the camper options are great but the two Maxx Fans impressed me. Also love that you can hang your rods inside, leave the bedding and still close the shell.
Thanks! Yea the fans are a must!
Great, informative discussion. Thanks!
Thank you!
Great build!
Thanks!
I love seeing other people use full size GM trucks for camping/overlanding rigs! Nice build, check out ours too!
Thanks!! Will do for sure!
Epic rig!
Time to hit the GA Traverse with some fly rods!
Nice
Thanks
Awesome build!!! Did you do anything with the rear suspension to handle the extra weight?
Thanks! Nothing yet. It is still sitting higher in the rear but I eventually plan to swap the shocks and I might get a customer leaf pack made to offset my standard load.
Nice, what model is the little black pressurized water tank/hose on the exterior?
Hey thanks! It is a Water Port. I think the 4gal one.
Great video and explanation of everything. Question #1 I flyfish and I have a rod carrier thoughts on mountain a fly rod carrier on top of the M? Huge hassle to get them down and put away overall use Question about the deck storage. Do you miss having the bench on the side? How tight is it getting into your M when it isn’t popped up?
How much did the M affect your mpg?
Mounting one to the top would be no issue. You might have to increase the four struts from the standard 30lb size to 35 or 40lbs. I am doing that myself just so they can handle a 35lb inflatable better. I have also seen a setup on the side. I will try and find that post and put the link here if I can. I still get to use the side bench so it is not an issue. It is shorter so I just keep my feet out straight when sitting but works for me. The Decked is just to valuable for what I do.
On the MPG it is hard to say. I had a rack on before with all the goodies mounted to it and got 13 - 13.5. I am now at 12.5 but also went up another inch on the tires right after getting the M. Bone stock the truck got 19 hwy so with all I have done it is now down to 12.5 hwy and like 11 around town.
How much space is between the roof of the truck and the bottom of the overhang portion of the project M? Nice setup. Thanks
Also, any dust/water intrusion so far?
Thanks! There is between 4 and 6.5” depending on where you measure, but the closest spot is 4”
No water, had some dust around the tailgate until I bulb seal and went around it. Now it is very minimal and only on long dry dirt roads that i notice it at all.
Jameson, you're saying you fit those tires on there without a Front Leveling Kit or Lift beyond the stock factory 2 inch, and all without rubbing?
Yep. The bumper allowed it to happen! I did have to trim my mudflaps and remove a mounting bracket that is behind them. Then I pulled the fender cover back and zip tied it to the old mounting bracket hole. It doesn’t rub now at all. I found some videos on some of the AT4 Facebook groups where folks had done it to fit 35’s
@@roadtripangler Hell, I'm impressed... and it does look Great. I definitely concur with the going to 17 inch wheels/tires, especially with the roads across America today, in addition to your taking yours Off-Road a bit more than the average person... it's a more plush ride.
For sure!
What rating tires do you use? C or e?
I run Es. I feel like with the added weight it helps.
Any reason why you didn't go with the 3.0L Duramax engine. My Sierra has that engine and I'm getting 25 to 30 miles per gallon.
Honestly I have wondered if that would have been a better option. I would not have been able to have the winch with the diesel because I have not seen a bumper option that allows for the clearance needed on the diesel. AEV now offers one for the new front end.
hey question, I was looking at a 24' Canyon AT4 for my Scout Yoho camper. A little digging and I've found that Chevy/GMC apparently specifically state to NOT use campers on their vehicles. is this still true in 24' and if so, how you feelin about that
I honestly do not know much about the 24’s and for that matter I have not looked into it even for the 2020 that I have. I feel like manufactures will try to cover themselves from a liability standpoint, but these are so lightweight that it is not a typical “camper”,
@@roadtripangler I definitely think it’s just a liability thing from GM, just annoying they are the only manufacturer that says it for their trucks. The 24 canyon says it should have about 1550 payload which feels like it should be plenty with some assist with rear an airbag suspension kit. Would just suck if something ever happened
For sure. My camper weighs 400lbs ish and a canyon one would be even less. I put so many miles on my truck that the warranty really means nothing to me anyway lol. I am just over 3 years in and an have 127000 miles on it now so it has been out of warranty for 2/3rds of the time anyway. I just send it and hope for the best lol
@@roadtripangler Yea honestly Im not too worried about it, with air bags helping the rear and babying it when I'm offroad I should be fine
What’s the distance between the decked and shelf of the M?
I will get a measurement on it ASAP. Out of town tomorrow but will get it when I get back.
@@roadtripangler I’m curious if there’s enough room for a goal zero or other power management to tuck in there.
It is exactly 10” in my truck. I think some trucks it would be different due to the bed rail heights.
Too much talking
Thanks for the feedback.
@@roadtripangler odd that the video is specifically titled as a walk through. I guess someone was expecting you to just stick your camera in the back and call it done. Excellent job explaining your set up. I just picked up a 2015 and have started getting ideas.
