nice to see someone who doesnt fill their lists with mainstream games. this was an amazing list. thank you!
Check #24 again!
PraxMAC horrible sorry juggernawt
PraxMAC can someone give me link for mario vs donkey kong ?
Use google buddy.
Boktai and Boktai 2 are good games.
Who is here just to know new games for gba emulator? Nice work by the way
Im here for the gba emulator
U need to play Metroid fusion.
here for physical cartridges for the gba sp i bought a couple weeks ago (emulation's for casuals)
😂😂😂
@@oliverhees4076 No its not
"Wario ware inc... uuh I dont know how to explain this" There's really no good way to explain how addictive this game is lol
Thats a bunch of mini games that are really addictive
Such a masterpiece
Not my cup of tea. I've tried to enjoy the game but i just can't understand the excitement of it
I could call this video, "Despite my best efforts of collecting, 71 GBA games I don't own." Great video though, glad to see so much in such a short amount of time.
Just wish Nintendo included a GBA slot on the 3DS, just imagine how amazing that would been.
If you get a modded 3ds you can use an injector to play any gameboy game using the virtual console software
What they should've done is releasing GBA games on the eShop like they did with GB and GBC's
No, gba cartridge batteries are beginning to die, they have a shelf life, and they aren't making any more gba cartridges. What they should've done is released GBA games digitally for download, as the 3DS actually has the native hardware capable of playing GBA games without emulation. But Nintendo dgaf about retro games.
Sorry to be off topic but does someone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account..? I somehow forgot the login password. I would love any tips you can offer me
@Ibrahim Malcolm Instablaster :)
wonderful list. I appreciate all of your hard work and effort. Thank you.
Fantastic list. I thought I knew of all the great games on the system but you gave me many I need to add to my list. Well done!
This is honestly the best list I've seen, i never knew of many of these games and i like your descriptions of them really sold me on them
Great list as always! GameBoy Advance is totally my favorite handheld and favorite gaming system in general. Straight-up 16-bit gaming goodness. No touch screen, no gyro, just six buttons and some of the best games ever made!
Danny CasseRolo I was referring to the system itself
the gba is 32 bit
I have to admit I'm surprised Harvest Moon wasn't here. But it is a good list.
yea its disappointing, its my fav game.
I know this comment is 3 years old but the reason why Harvest moon didn't make it because it's a snes port not an original GBA game
@@sbevenine2055 uh? Harvest moon friends of mineral town is not an snes port its an exclusive GBA title. Also doom is on the list and thats not an original GBA game.
@@OmegaLilchubby Oh shit your right. I'm sorry thx for informing mate
Very cool list. I comb for obscure GBA games regularly, and your first entries had a lot of gems that I was not aware of. Your GBA knowledge is clearly vast.
All these games have aged pretty well and are entertaining even today. May your passion for the retro gaming be praised.
My dad bought me a GBA and I didn't know what games to get. So this list was really helpful. :]
I should have brought a GBA to my colonoscopy
They should supply you with one.
Some if not most of these games i havent played before...thanks for this list and helping me gain more knowledge of more gba games to expand my gba library! 😎👍
What I like about your videos is you don't just add the standard Mario, Zelda and metroid but more unknown gems as well great job!
This is the hands down best list on youtube.
Metroid is a perfect fit for the ol' GBA.
+Joey Gray sure is, especially backlit SP models that make the darker areas of the game easier to see
Awesome video dude. Tried the DK one with the shoulder controls and it's great. Nice putting focus on games which are playable today, often neglected from retro videos
Excellent list, well put together. I'd like to give a mention to Glory Days which is an excellent remake of "Armor Alley" and mixes real time strategy with 2D airplane/helicopter combat. It's a true treat.
I know this video is 6 years old, but I hope by now you’ve discovered Rhythm Tengoku for the GBA. It’s easily my favorite GBA game, and an absolute gem.
Wait a minute, no NES or SNES conversions but other conversions? Excellent video overall though! The critics would underrate a lot of these games just because they were handheld games!
I like your list. I've just purchased a lot of 59 gba games. I have no idea what's gonna be in there, but this video is a great tease!
This's a really personal but at the same time professional recommendation of some awesome GBA games. Thank you so much!! I like a lot of the games you recommended.
Nice video! The GBA is my favorite handheld console.
I miss my GBA, so I literally just ordered a GBA on eBay with an AGS 101 backlight mod. Cool list matey'
should have just got a sp 001
fishnchips definitely not.
weirdBox First of all, the 001 is bright enough. If you cant see the screen you are visually challenged. Second, the battery life is much better on the 001, I have found. (and the sp is more portable and playable in my opinion)
TITANSPIRIT the nice thing about modded like we have is that if you have larger hands its more comfortable
Emulators?
Didn't expect this video to be so well done. Good presentation, relevant information and a nice list.
Man your Top lists are so unique compared with what you see all over KZhead. There's a lot of interesting hidden gems in every list you make. Congrats and subbed!
Seriously great video. When the GBA was current it completely blew my mind what all it was capable of
Nobody expected it to be as powerful as a Snes, let alone MORE powerful! It truly was a monster of a machine. If only my launch day model had a backlight :(
Incredible list! I would kill for you to spend about 25 times longer on each game and split the videos into 10 minute chunks. You have great taste, I just want to hear more of your thoughts on everything. edit: you even have Scurge Hive!! That's one that gets so little love you don't even find it on "hidden gems" videos. Awesome
Thats crazy how you watch a video then a bunch of time goes by and you end up watching that same video again. Great vid man. really cool u did a voice over for it too
I recently picked up a Gameboy Player for my old GameCube. This video was handy in choosing which games to look for!
Wings was on the gba? This is exactly why I watch these videos!
The best thing about your lists is the fact you don't give a shit what the critics say etc. The important thing is even though some got panned you like them and thats all that matters!
Critics often have different criteria in what they are looking for in a game, compared to someone like me, who just wants to enjoy them! Take the new Doom for example on ps4/Xbox one/PC. It won't win any awards for originality, and critics have been giving it average scores, but hot dang that game is fun to play and is one of my games of the year so far!
Thank you for keeping the titles up through the whole explanations. I wish more people would do that
I always try to bear in mind suggestions to make future videos better. Thanks for the input
Thank you for this list, I’ve added many more great games to my collection thanks to you.
Okay! Time to put these games in my GBA *emulator*!
Same
I'd extremely highly recommend Megaman Battle Network 3. There are 2 versions, blue and white, with minor differences. I've heard Battle Network 6 is good as well, but I haven't played it.
I’ve tried to get into these but I just seem to not be able to. Idk why I like rpgs, action, strategy, etc. something about these though
3 and 6 are the best 😎👍
Of all the best games, must have and hidden gem videos I have watched for the GBA so far, this is the first one that mentions Rebelstar. Thumbs up for that alone.
All of my favorite GBA games that i played as a kid made it into top 10 except Pokemon Crystal. Great list by the way ^_^ (Golden Sun: The Lost Age, Pokemon Crystal, Metroid Fusion, and Superstar Saga are my favorites)
great video!! the GBA was such a perfect handheld. way more better games, than these smartphone shit today.
+Markus Martin GBA was a fantastic machine. and, for me, was only beaten by the PSP for the title of "greatest handheld system ever". Smartphone games? There are a couple of exceptional, wonderful titles for smartphones like Game Dev Story and Vain Glory. They're the peanuts hidden away in the turd of endless plagiarised re-skins, ad-swamped games and console ports with horrific touch controls.
@@Juganawt try a game called shadow of the full moon(android)
So true Nintendo is truly the king of handheld gaming
I may use mobile but I have the power to bring back those memories and play
the gba is a portable very spectacular.
top quality video
Thanks Steven!
This is seriously the best GBA games list on the internet. Thank you for taking the time to put this together with such quality.
Good joke 😂😂😂😂😂
@@X-Cutioner why is it a joke? Elaborate.
I was expecting a video of trailers stichted together. Dude this is incredible effort you really commented on each of them.
just added about 15 games to my gba emulator for my phone, I'm surprised yoshis island didnt make it on here, loved that game
Yoshi's Island is a SNES port, and therefore did not hit my criteria for the list. It did, however, make the Honorable Mentions video, and it also made a very high place on my Super Nintendo list as well :D

Juganawt , oh alright sorry I wasn't aware. thanks for clearing that up. Great video tho, how often do you upload new material?
Cass Lockhart not anywhere near as regularly as I'd like to. I work dynamic shifts in my real life job, so I don't have any sort of schedule. I work on videos an hour or so at a time and have started to stream while I record footage, so I'd like to think at least 1 video of some description would be available every 2 weeks.
Juganawt alright well I'm gonna subscribe to you because I like your material.
Bookworm is a guilty pleasure for me too, as i like Word Search puzzles and always have, great fun to be had when you're good at spelling. Dynasty Warriors Advance is great for being a handheld game, the voiceovers is clear and crisp, just beautiful. "Enemy Officer Defeated!" i LOVE The Two Towers and Return of the King on GBA, they are Diablo style goodness mixing beautifully with the LOTR Universe created by J.R.R Tolkien, sadly Fellowship didnt go by that rule, also The Third Age is Strategy/RPG so i love that one too. yeah, i didnt hear about Scourge Hunt either, must've indeed been under the radar, such a shame as it looks awesome. i like FF Tactics Advance, except for the Judge system, it is a pain in certain situations. i really like how Mario Golf got the RPG treatment, even complete with a original character that gains stats the more you play with him, i really would like to see that in the next console version of Mario Golf, it would be nice to have Miis that level up and get custom stats. Warioware, oh how hooked i was when i started playing that, i still play it on occasion, going for those medals. while Shining Force will always be my fave of Strategy RPGs (it's what introduced me to the genre during the 16 bit era) but Fire Emblem is good too, though not nearly as forgiving as SF. i LOVE the Metroidvania style that Castlevania has taken since SOTN, some ppl hate it but i love it, the RPG elements make it all the better than it's predecessors. with Metroid Fusion, i think you are right about that, at least to an extent, the atmosphere is just so tense and creepy that it feels like a Survival Horror game, and that really tips the scale for me. Mario & Luigi is a good Mario RPG Series, but i prefer Paper Mario or the original SMRPG overall. LoZ The Minish Cap was great, i know a lot of ppl hate the Toon Link style of the franchise, but i enjoy it, especially on the handheld platforms. Advance Wars, you have no idea how much i was blown away by how fun it is, as i am not one for Military themed titles but this strategy game was just so light hearted, challenging and fun that i have been playing the series since, i wonder when another game is coming, i want a 3DS Advance Wars game damn it! lol Overall a great list as i know it was hard as hell picking this list from so many great titles.
thanks for the list. some amazing looking games for the system. some games I didn't think it was possible on the GBA!
Really enjoying these "Top consoles/handheld games" series. Top notch work! Gained a Subscriber 👍
good list my guy
have you done top 50 or 75 games of game cube??? I love game cube!!!
All in good time! I dont have much spare time at the moment, and I have a few videos that will be coming first, but I do plan to cover GC in the future.
My friend and I used to play spy hunter 2 co op and I forgot the name or really what that game was but your list helped me find it! I have been spending years trying to find that obscure game! Thank you
great video man! keep up the great work. what's the name of the outro music at the end? I love it and I love your choices. :)
I have to disagree about Metroid. Not only do I think that Zero Mission is better than Fusion but also that Fusion isn't even remotely as good as Super. A thing that annoys me to no end in Fusion is that it's absolutely linear. You found a power and remember a place where that power would allow you to proceed further? Tough luck, sonny Jim, you're going to go exactly the way the developers want you to go because doors will be arbitrarily locked to any other place. It's against the whole Metroid spirit to do that! Castlevania I wouldn't want to rate Aria of Sorrow against Symphony of the Night. Both are equally as great. I also love Dawn of Sorrow, even if it's generally rated lower. I've 100%ed all games multiple times and am currently replaying SOTN. A shame that no Castlevania after DoS ever was quite as good.
Max Payne is excellent for the GBA, they only cut out Chapter 2 which was just a space filler in the original, but the story is very well represented in the GBA version.
Great video and presentation! Managed to learn about many GBA games I didn't know about.
Good list 'Nawt, felt inspired to go give Scurge Hive a look. It's pretty good
Aria of Sorrow, Dynasty Warriors...ohhh i love this list already! 😍
EDIT AS OF JUNE 3 2018 (yes. It literally took me a year to find this game lol): I found out what the game was and I'm so happy i found it. The game is called Altered Beasts. If you want to read the original comment, I'll leave it here so you can read it. Can someone help me? there was a game that impacted my childhood a ton on the gba but I can't find it! if I remember from my childhood you were like someone in armor with a sword and it's a 2d game so I you fight people or something on the way and (i think it's the 1st level) you fight this statue thing that comes to life or something. sorry if this was a bad explanation but it was the best I could describe it from my childhood.
could you explain a little better?
TheVarkol "sorry if this was a bad explanation but it was the best I could describe it from my childhood."
so probably an adventure beat em up or rpg
JoelWelcome Sorry if i sound like an ass
TheVarkol it's okay you. Yes, it's like an adventure beat em up
Great list been getting new game boy advance games though emulation haven't played many of these in years. Love videos like this with snes Sega etc Keep it up though!!
Found a few to add to my collection. I’m sure they will be fun. Thank you!
This is a great list. I just picked up a backlit GBA and I need some games =)
Pretty good list. Except for (in my opinion) Sonic Pinball Party & Justice League Heroes:The Flash missing, can't find much fault with it.
A good list! Advance Wars 2 is my number one, as it's just a little more refined than its predecessor. I only wish there were more save slots for custom maps, which is the real draw of the game. Other favorites of mind: Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer (think Lynx California Games), Motoracer Advance, Moto GP, Pac-Man Collection, Konami Arcade Classics (?), Virtual Kasparov (chess game), Gekido Advance, Double Dragon Advance, Dropzone, Three Stooges, Ponball o/t Dead, etc etc.
Daniel Thomas MacInnes I completely agree! Advanced Wars 2 is my favorite game of all time and although the first is a masterpiece, #2 is superior. The campaign is MUCH better, the extra commanders add a lot of interest to the game, and the super powers add interesting strategic choices to the game. I've never replayed a game more than AW2.
great list! thanks for sharing
GBA is my favorite handheld device I've ever had, I cherish it and its games much more than the current modern devices, and I must say I can't agree with your list you left out awesome games like the Dragonball Legacy of Goku trilogy and great RPG games like Breath of Fire and Final Fantasy, and the first Fire Emblem that came to GBA.
You should take a look at the Honorable Mentions video - both Breath of Fire and Final Fantasy are ports of the Snes versions, so didn't make my criteria for the list, but they are evident in the honourable mentions along with the likes of Doom. As for Dragonball? Didn't like 'em.
now i regret calling gameboy lame
Can't believe there were no Dragon Ball Z games on this list. Makes feel very sad because Dragon Ball Z games were one of the best on GBA.
dbz: super sonic warriors?
RubyGaming Legacy of Goku II & especially Buu’s Fury ftw
I actually remember owning and playing Scurge Hive and I loved it, sadly I forgot about it all this time until stumbling upon this video...for that I thank you for reminding me of many memories
I've been binge watching your videos and thoroughly enjoying it.
+Tuden Jamir glad you're enjoying them! A new video will be coming out next month!
MAN, now wanna play some of these games!!😠
I liked the graphics, physics and feel of super, but loved everything about fusion. Gameplay wise, fusion wins, it's not qutie as slow as super, but in terms of overall mass of game, super wins, due to extra mechanics and things.
I like the fact that you didn’t list all mainstream, well-known games. This is just what I was looking for to help me fill out my GBA library. 👍🏻 And, yes, Metroid Fusion ABSOLUTELY ROCKS!! I’ve put many hours on that game. LOVE IT!
Great video. Keep up the good work. I'm sure a huge audience is incoming.
Good list, great suggestions. Warioland 4 would probably be number 1 for me, its one of my favorite games of all time.
Warioland 4 is fantastic, for sure. But I can't even track the amount of hours I played my #1 for!
OO7 NIGHTFIRE GBA Probably the most technically impressive fps EVER created for the gba !!!
have u tried ecks vs sever, its basically the same as 007 in terms of graphics
DpoProductions Yes, I tried it. Both games are graphically very similar it is true, but the complexity of the environment is higher in 007 (in my opinion).
Aria of Sorrow is the best. Period.
Easily.
wait, i have a SLIGHT feeling you had an amiga! Just kidding, it had great games! great video, you put games that you liked overall, not "hidden gems" that arent hidden, and not the normal game. this is great, and bias in a good way!
Good job on video. I know it probably took a few days to complete it since you had footage for every game too!
About 60-80 hours per video. It takes between 20 - 30 hours to record the game footage, which I then shrink down to around 30 minutes in editing (which usually takes an additional 20 - 30 hours), and then finally rendering it to 4K 60 frames-per-second video is a 20 hour render on my ageing hardware.
Started to play game boy advanced again.
Spoiled Doctor ii
megaman battle network/zero... noooo... how could they have not made it!??

well thats what "personal" top 75
amazing list! my personal favorite system to collect for-
Just what I needed, I totally missed the GBA, was hitting my late teens when it came out so I was more interested in birds and beer but now I'm an old married bore and I've just installed the entire GBA library on my retro pie it's handy to have a few ideas where to start. cheers mate
Number 23 has a DS case picture.
yup. I dont have the GBA box
Hello everyone. I am in a bit of a dilemma. I have been looking EVERYWHERE on the internet for a specific Game Boy Advance Game. One of the biggest issues is that I can't even remember the name! I was looking on this video (and a BUNCH of others) to hopefully find game footage with the name, but I haven't seen it. Thankfully, I can describe most of the gameplay and features. This game stars two-legged furry creatures, whose hands are only visible when holding something. They have four colors, red, green, yellow, and blue (I think) which makes me believe that this is a four-player game. The main gameplay mechanics were that in the stage, you could kick these blocks (the color depended on the level) across the stage, (if it is on an edge, it will go splat and disappear), and turn the enemies into blocks by obtaining a gun that could turn players/creatures into blocks. You could also jump from ledge to ledge and over rows of blocks, but if you jumped off the edge and didn't reach the other side, you died. The setting is on Earth, with the levels being based on locations of Earth (only kind of broken-down and somehow reduced to floating pieces of land) and you had to travel to various parts of Earth (via a rainbow bridge) to continue to the next level. The challenge was to face off against the three other players to try to kill them, by either kicking blocks into them, or turning them into a block, kicking them against a corner, (making them go splat) or by kicking the player trapped in block over the edge of the stage (You could walk past each other though). If you got hit in any way, either by a player or one of the "cute" animal creatures, then you would have to start the stage all over again, with one life less. There are (at least) three (or five?) stages within each level, with a boss stage at the end. The boss would be determined by whatever creature roamed around the stage, ie. if there was a walrus in an ice stage, the boss of the stage would be a Walrus. The creatures would also get bigger as you won stages, until you get to fight the boss, which was part mechanical and really huge! You had to (surprise) kick blocks into the boss, either at the boss, or at a weak point, and you could only take three hits before you died. The game had 8 levels. List of levels, including bosses: Level 1 (Antarctica)-Walrus boss, Level 2 (Europe?)-Elephant boss, Level 3-Octopus boss, Level 4 -... I forgot. Level 5 (Utah)-Rattlesnake boss (I think it had two snakes to deal with) Level 6-Crab boss, Level 7 (China/Japan)-Dragon Boss, Level 8-Rhino boss. That's all I can remember from the game. I know that it's surprising to know SO MUCH about a game, and NOT remember the name. Use to play it a lot when I was a kid too! If anybody could help me figure out the name of this game, I would REALLY appreciate it! I mostly just want both a trip down Memory Lane, and to put the boss music on my Favorites list! (Super catchy)
Nope, not that one. One, the characters were taller, and their hands were within their fur. Also, it was not a 2D platformer, you could roam around in four directions (up, down, left and right). Thanks for the suggestion though. Really appreciate it!
Sorry, but there were no humans present within the game I was describing. Just strange, furry, long-tongued (but cute) creatures battling on Earth. Never played Lady Sia anyway, I'm into Pokemon personally.
*looks it up real quick* GASP! THAT'S IT! Yes, I finally found it! Now I can put a bunch of the games songs on my Favorites! I still could not have done it without you, Ms. Christina. Thanks for helping me solve this nostalgia mystery with me. Hope you have a great day today, and God bless you!
Nice job, Christina!
Christina Crouch the real mvp
Great uploads keep up the good work!
I'm just now getting into the GBA library and I found this to be thoroughly helpful. Thank you! Are you doing to do an "Top All Time" video for the DS library?
JoKoKilla yeah I’m eventually planning to do one for all machines but they do take time. It takes about a month to record footage for all the games, and then it takes more time to sort them into order and put them together in a video. It’s not next on the list (that’s Famicom Disk System, which I’ve nearly recorded all footage for), but it will be made at some point
@@Juganawt I can imagine it's a ton of time and effort on your part, as the videos are quality and packed with content. I look forward to the Famicom and all others that follow. Thank you for your insight.
Man I miss the old days....
I'm sure that if we were back in the old days, you'd be reminiscing about even older days! Nostalgia works in funny ways :D
I know right
I grew up in the Atari 2600 days and I don't miss the Atari!
JustChillingWithMyHotdog do you have an iOS to use iemulaters
Wow a whole new system awaits me
Very nice and informative video sir. Keep up the good work!👍
+vlad thanks!
Nice video BUT what character from Metal Gear Solid is in Konami Krazy Racers (one of my favourite racers)?
+Max KopfraumPoops Gray Fox from MGS is one of the playable racers
I feel stupid now after having played this game for so many years and I never realized this. I was excited when I got it for Android ages ago and I could play it online against random people for free. I forgot what it's called again on phones. In my defense I have to admit I have never been really keen on the MGS series. I like Metal Gear MSX so my knowledge about the series is almost non existent apart from a few characters ;) THANKS a lot for clearing that up also keep up the great work. Subscribed.
buying a GBA now.
Enjoy
waste of money. just play the games for free through an emulator
my friend, super metroid had a better atmosphere than metroid fusion. i have played both in the dark and i felt truly alone in super metroid. it just adds to the great game design. from the better soundtrack and sharper graphics its better. is metroid fusion a pushover? no. in my opinion its the second best 2d metroid game. its a 9/10 overall. you just caught feelings from the portability bro lol .
hiphopgamer80 this is gba list
Really good presentation, loads of interesting games.
I watched the entire video and was so happy when you agreed with me on the best GBA ever......ADVANCE WARS! I don't think I could ever even try and make a top 75 games list because there are just so many really awesome games (some you mentioned, and some you didn't) that would have me pulling my hair out by the roots trying to even decide on. Great great video.
Mega man battle network!
legitimate gaming discussion 😆
I like your rules/criteria! Good! Since GBA is full of SNES/NES games, u did the right thing!
This is an amazing list. Thank you.

JustChillingWithMyHotdog it's a GBA and NDS game. I don't have the box for the GBA version though so I used the DS box
i spent a lot of time to finish rebelstar: tactical command until one day my gameboy did not work, and then I met someone makes a good review bout it today ;)
OUTstanding! A great guide to the must-have games on the GBA. (Even if you "forgot" my favorite, Harvest Moon Friends of Mineral Town.)
I can understand why people love harvest moon...but for me it's better suited to consoles rather than handhelds.
