Hello everyone and enjoy your meal, because the sight of this burger will definitely make your mouth water. Interesting fact, the patty in it is made not of meat, but of the contents of this bottle, which look not so appetizing. I wonder how tasty the burger with this artificial patty is, and whether vegetarianism can save our planet and protect animals. Well, let's find out!
Attention! This video shows dangerous experiments! Do not repeat the experiments shown in this video!

  • Those "meat belts" looked like they had a consistency that matches closer to fresh cheeses like mozzarella. On a side note plant based meat substitutes don't make too much sense for most people. However, once we start making colonies off of earth plant based meat substitutes will make a LOT more sense for them. In spite of the story of the cow jumping over the moon, getting a cow into space would be extremely expensive and feeding it would be impractical, especially if all your going to do is eat the cow and not drink it's milk.

  • On the note of Environmental Friendliness, some thoughts. A decent chunk of agricultural land is being used for animal feed. While you are correct that Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) are mostly to blame, many other farms still supplement, or need Winter Forage. Some areas, including arid regions, dedicate space, nutrients, and most importantly WATER to growing grass/alfalfa. While i do lean more to the vegan side, i am not 100% dogmatic about it. If killed in a VERY ethical manner, it is probably a “nicer” death than they otherwise would have had, although they must be kept unaware. Also as you mentioned Chickens, and also Farmed Fish such as Tilapia are far closer to a 1-to-1 ratio of feed in to food out. Granted this is often at the cost of massive stocking density, so ethical methods would slightly reduce this. Still better than beef regardless. On the note of “land that can only be used for cattle” etc, i think Wildlife / Rewilding areas is a use in of itself. GRANTED just transition for farmers must be considered, but at a same time along with Urban Sprawl with it’s Suburbs, Farming (again often for fodder) is a major contributor to Habitat Loss. We have replaced Buffalo with Cattle here for the most part here in the USA, and killed all the wolves in the process. This leads into interesting compromises. As you alluded to, there is a concept of “intense rotational grazing” which rapidly changes foraging locations to prevent total destruction of the grass etc, but make use of the Livestock’s composting + soil compacting/churning mechanisms. Self Adjusting Fences, or potentially even novel forms of herding may make this easier. To an extent, along with “Livestock Guardian Dogs” this may allow for partially-wild-herds, the near opposite of CAFOs, have a mobile crew, mobile slaughterhouse, etc. Ultimately using Native Species like Buffalo would make this even cooler. Alternativly, having much more farmed fish using sustainable biomass feed such as Algae, Power-to-Food Derived Microbe Feed, or food scraps etc, along with similar systems for chickens or other birds can work well. Minor note is that composting can work as well if not better for organic matter to soil conversion. Also even though proper anaerobic digesters are preferable, “modern” Bioreactor Landfills with Landfill Gas Capture Upgrading and Use aren’t that bad. I’m rambling, but i hope this is reconsidered a bit, but yeah thanks for reading this far

      @DirtyPlumbus@DirtyPlumbusАй бұрын
    • @tealover1866 the truth is farming tends to be heavily subsidized, monitored and controlled by the government. For decades farmers have essentially had to do as their overlords command. They've gotten used to it for the most part and those who take issue usually find themselves on the wrong side of the law very quickly. I can't say for certain, but it's likely even the chemicals they use are beyond their control.

      @DirtyPlumbus@DirtyPlumbusАй бұрын
    • @tealover1866 agreed, they're definitely being pushed in the wrong direction. I've seen reports that farming for vegetarian diets is actually far more destructive than meat farming. For starters it requires much more food for equal calories and therefore much more land and chemicals. I believe increasing starvation to reduce population is their real goal.

      @DirtyPlumbus@DirtyPlumbusАй бұрын
  • All meat flavors are just ratios of amino acids. Like, that's literally all it is. MSG is umami, but i wouldn't say its "meat flavor", its more of a meat enhancer. Which may be interacting with the aminos from the plants to produce a more convincing meatiness.

It won't taste like meat but adding a bit of extra sharp cheddar, lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, sauce or salsa will improve flavor. The real question is how do lentil tacos compare to meat tacos or taco salad. The crunch of the taco shell or tortillas really helps the lentil tacos and taco salad for some reason.

  • the problem is not just eating meat but rather the exaggerated production of cattle meat. It's the least efficient and not even more nutritious than smaller livestock, and the production of cattle & cattle feed (a large portion of agricultural land is dedicated to growing cattle feed, so the argument that agriculture also harms the planet is misleading) is wildly disproportionate to our actual dietary needs. So the solution isn't throwing a fit because someone eats meat, nor getting all cocky because you do. It's eating efficiently and according to our needs (and come on beef doesn't even taste better than other meats)

  • I would like to point out that it is extremely hard to eat a vegetarian diet that is healthy. Any mistakes can cause serious health problems. Right now, food is so expensive that just eating some meat easily gives a balanced diet. Carbon di-oxide is not a powerful greenhouse gas. The real greenhouse gases just aren't causing a problem. Nature has a cycle that balances out. Plants grow in much bigger quantities and eliminate the excess Carbon di-oxide. It is plant food. Humans are incapable of changing the climate except with land stripping of plants. And that change is only a local change, not a global one. I don't want to be starved to death when thorium nuclear power can make this whole issue pointless. Germany has shut down it's energy dense nuclear power in favor of burning coal. That's just silly. So when famine hits your country, remember that someone is making a lot of money from your suffering. Plus, I really love that the canned peas I buy are so under cooked that I have to use a pressure cooker to make them edible. Thank you for the really excellent video!

  • I loved the new dub. But I'am going to be honest, you never talked in sync, and always dubbed over with your own voice, which was alright. But I think this new dub will add more exposure to the channel. I really do enjoy the new voice dubbing, but I also apreciated when you did it yourself.

    • @@tealover1866 Nonsense. If we're saying plants feel pain because they react to injury then fish absolutely feel pain. You're claim that it's been "proven" is unfounded. Neurobiologists have long recognized that fish have nervous systems that comprehend and respond to pain. Fish, like “higher vertebrates,” have neurotransmitters such as endorphins that relieve suffering-the only reason for their nervous systems to produce these painkillers is to alleviate pain.
