  • Very good for a concept. Install straight motors without gear boxes, programmable motor controllers, and a sealed throttle device. This thing could go much faster and with programmed ramps you could get much better performance. Maybe even tighten up the clearances between the props and the tubes to get greater thrust from them too. Great project and great results.

  • This same concept designed onto the hull of a canoe or kayak would really be badass, primarily for its ability to push through weeds and debris without tangling up the props . Amazing potential here.Nice.

  • That's cool! If you placed a larger step up cone facing forward to be a scoop then a step down at the back to increase thrust you'd be surprised at the outcome. I must admit sir, you have a lot of odd components on hand. Do you have an ebay store or family owned hardware store? Very impressed. Please keep up the good work, you give me lots of ideas.

  • Beautifully executed and a wonderful scraps box you have. Love the welded pipe construction. It does occur to me that the butt-weld for the cowling tangs might be vulnerable. If you were to use two endcaps for the motor mount, back-to-back you could sandwich the rubber seal between them. You could then weld the tangs inside the second endcap. Lovely work.

  • One important thing.. One motor should have been wired backwards to create a counter rotating engine. This give stability and allows it to go straight without manipulation. Common practice on all multi engine setups weather a plane or vessel. But the idea is excellent for a kayak. Or something similar.

  • Needs a dead man switch so it won't run away on you, a couple of fins on the front for better depth control, and some kind of arm brace so you can get better pitch control in the water. Pretty cool.

  • Interesting to watch. Totally sealing off the batteries seems a bit odd and I can't see the glands he cut from a bike tube lasting long. I see this as more a proof of concept rather than a functional project but still pretty cool in a geeky sort of way.

  • Those motor water seals are super temporary. No way those will last more then 15 min in water. You should have built a housing for a bearing and seal to go in. Then your setup will last for years.
