    • Tire wear is uneven in GT7 it isn't linear. Though I can see how you think it's more linear than in AC:C and since there are ultimately no tire failures (punctures or worries of driving over curbs on worn tires) or on cold or hot tires, GT7's tire model will by default have the more simplified tire model... It's still pretty nuanced. You still have to worry about marbling and tire heat wearing your tires faster. The best lines offer lower resistance with smoother acceleration and deceleration, all help save your tires... there is also endurance racing in GT7, which makes this all more important than you let on. Ultimately, you came to the conclusion that I'd expect actual players of either or both games who have an objective mindset should. GT7's goal isn't to be the more hardcore sim it is still appealing to the masses and makes things more accessible to wider audiences by being difficult but not downright punishing, it's bad enough that you can still make a single mistake that ends your race. AC:C is more accurate because it holds no punches whatsoever, if you ignore your crew chief and drive on rumbles when they explicitly tell you your tire pressure is too low you're likely to pay for it with a puncture that can prevent you from even driving back to the pits, which can ruin a race weekend event. After playing both, I'm not getting the impression that GT7 is actually lacking in the physics department as in, I don't think GT7 coulding add in failures if they wanted to, it is made si that you respect driving in a precise way while also giving players enough leway to push way harder in GT7 than you would or could in real life because well, the car won't actually break down on you. If you want an unfiltered simulation experience, get AC:C. If you want racing with accurate racing physics without the ultra-punishing difficulty of the car being destroyed due to taking a single bad line through a corner, get GT7. I have both, and both have excellent driving physics. Aside: Oh, and AC:C is best played with a wheel & pedals in my experience while GT7 works great with either W/P or DS, though I agree that GT7's FFB doesn't feel right at least on the entry-level G29 wheel ($200 USD) and it feels significantly better in AC:C using the same wheel (even with AC:Cs default FFB settings). I play a lot of racing games, but I couldn't justify spending $500 or more for a better DD wheel from Fanatec or Thrustmaster.

I can get a quality ranked race every ten minutes. So if I only have half an hour to play I can still get a race in. I love that. And hour for hour Im racing more ranked races in that hour than any other title. I only play sport mode in GT7. • I prefer GT7 because it has a full VR experience and is the most immersive way to play a racing game for any platform. Logitech G Pro DD wheels and pedals with a sim cockpit complete the package. I put in 90 hours in VR, on top of the 50 or so hours I've played with a controller before VR. And honestly, until other racing games like ACC get VR support on PS5, I will stick exclusively with GT7. Playing in VR completely changes the experience from simcade to holy crap, this feels almost real.

      @caliginousmoira8565@caliginousmoira8565 Жыл бұрын
    • @@caliginousmoira8565 Because BeamNG is the only game that accurately models the entire vehicle's physics. For instance, if you rev up a V8 in neutral you actually see the whole frame shake from the pistons going to work (and in BeamNG, the pistons actually work). Every vehicle is accurately modeled for soft-deformation damage, so hitting a curb, bumping another vehicle, or sliding into a ditch all impact the vehicle based on accurately modeled physics from real life. It completely changes how you race. You can blow out a tire if you don't have the right tire sets on doing burnouts, or you can crack the driveline, or twist the axle if you push the car too hard. Basically there are a million different things to keep track of as you both push the car hard and pamper it to keep it from breaking down, overheating, or getting wrecked. It's the exact sort of sim I've always wanted. When you go back to Forza, Assetto or Gran Turismo, none of those factors apply. If you bump another car you get some minor damage and maybe with enough "damage" your vehicle will veer to the left or to the right, but none of it is as impactful or as detailed as BeamNG. Learning how to clutch properly, maintain revs, and also push for the pole position is a completely different experience in BeamNG.

  • For me, the strength of the GT series always was the ability to build and race road cars, although the games always had a lot of racing cars too of course. And when it comes to driving road cars, the only other sims in recent history that I remember that have made an attempt on doing road cars, were Project Cars 2, and Assetto Corsa (we also had LFS and rFactor 1 back in the day and it would be criminal not to mention them). For that particular thing, which for me is where GT is great, AC is the only real competition (road cars in PC2 are alright but clearly not the focus of that game). And road cars drive better in AC. However, that's all you can do there, drive the cars. You can get mods of tuned cars, but you can't really make your own build (unless you got some modding and 3d modeling skills of course). That for me, is why GT will always have a place in my racing game collection. It is the only game where I can let my imagination loose trying out different car builds and having a representation of how those cars could drive in a reasonably realistic way. I've driven some of the cars in GT7 in real life, and they aren't that off. They're different from the real thing, but the character of the cars is there. As for force feedback, it's surprising to me how GT4 still has my favorite FFB in the GT series. Perhaps it's more that I'm impressed by how good it is considering the hardware it runs in, but playing it on the original PS2 with a Driving Force GT, the FFB doesn't feel dated at all (the physics do feel VERY dated though). Hell, it feels better than iRacing on the same wheel.

  • To be fair, I would expect ACC, a game which is dedicated to GT3 and GT4 (and even GT2?) racing, to be more realistic in physics in that specific classes and categories than GT7, which has all kinds of cars and can't work as detailed on every car. Plus, GT7 has a much broader approach as it still must be forgiving enough for casual players, but deep enough for hardcore gamers. I think GT7 does it pretty good and gives a fairly robust and realistic approach in physics despite also being forgiving enough for controller players to enjoy the game. It surely isn't the most in-depth simulator and especially the TC and ABS settings are something to improve upon (TC being very restrictive, even TC 1 in GT feels like a pretty high TC setting in ACC, and no ABS is absolute torture in GT7), but again, considering the approach of GT to please everybody, it is a very good compromise.

  • GT7 tire wear isn’t that linear. A lot of times you’ll get uneven wear all depending on how the tires were used. It’s not unusual to experience heavy wear on one side or another or heavier wear on the rears if you get a bit of wheelspin or real heavy RWD acceleration. Not saying it’s as advanced as ACC. It’s not. It’s also not as simple as this video portrays it.

  • GT7 day one physics was fun even though it didn't work for a few cars. However, it was amazing for cars like the Mclaren 650s and the Porsche 911 RSR. The issue with the physics was that there wasn't much modulation in the tire model whenever you lost grip, cars like the Audi R8 GT3 snap oversteer were mainly the result of GT7 tire model lack of depth, that's why it was nearly impossible to recover an R8 GT3 whenever you lost even a tiny amount of grip. I'm going to kinda blame the PS4 for it, and I really hope GT8 becomes the refined version that's not going to be bottlenecked by the previous console generation.

    • AC very in comparison to ACC loosely approximates FFB, and enhances some aspects of it, and it's configurable, want more pronounced understeer, configure it, want more rumble strip feel, there you go. Where ACC derives FFB from the forces as they are calculated over the suspension, the geometry of which comes from the manufacturers, from tire load data which come from Pirelli, from suspension data, which, yeah, bump stops are broken, they are fixing them though, but suspension data comes from the car manufacturers and teams as well, then more recently there is very approximated rigid body mechanics for the chassis that also all adds into force vectors which not only define how the car handles at the end, but also what is felt through the wheel. So, from day 1 Kunos has said that they are not imagining or modifying, or putting in systems to let you modify any forces so what you feel is very close to what you feel in a real car as the result, and they want it to feel like the real car. One of the biggest places this comes out is over the curbs for example, taking a medium curb in a GT car in AC, you feel the punch of the curb, and while people criticize ACC at least at first, you would would barely actually feel the same curb in a real car, because the suspension works and does its job. ACC is far from perfect, but it is an attempt to get as close to reality, and a pretty good one at that.

It does this in one way by ensuring the game is playable via controller, unlike most of the console sim racers I've played. I tried out Assetto Corsa Competizione on Console, and it was unplayable for me via controller. (IMO, the first Assetto Corsa was easier with a controller; I am open to any suggestions). Now, I am well aware that it is meant to be played with a steering wheel controller, but that is a deterrent for many, considering finances, seriousness, Etc. ACC's physics are more in-depth, but GT7's aren't missing too much to deter racing fans.

Interesting video, still think that the best sim is rF2, as someone who has done some track driving and kart racing, I can relate to the feel of rF2, specially noticeable in the little Radical (had some laps in the real one) where I have a solid base to compare. • This is because ACC does FFB from calculating the cumulative forces within the suspension, tires and now chassis, and translates it through some transforms to what is translated to the wheel, i.e. what you feel is close to what you have in the real car. They were clear that this is what they do and will continue to do, without ever imagining or making it "stronger where it needs to be", FFB is stronger where it is stronger because there is more force being transferred through the steering column. I like AC a lot too, but it's a completely different FFB model, it may feel better or easier where things get accentuated a bit, but it is not real.

It’s not that I want the wheel to be ripped out of my hands but when something serious happens in game like crash or even when you spin the car or have the back step out the wheel FFB should communicate that accordingly. I use CSL3 pedals with a load cell, 7 gear h pattern and analog hand brake for those rally or drifting sessions (let's face it, mostly drifting sessions) :) I can tell you that GT3 cars not only have PAS, #25 Mercedes-AMG GT3 drove N24 with a steer by wire system this year. I don't know how much playing around with the settings you have done, but you could be clipping and not getting the feel because of that. I think the first place to start to configure your settings would be to go over to coach Dave or driver 61 i think they both have good articles on FFB settings specific to ACC. I think if you haven't read that yet, googling ACC FFB setup guide would be a good start. Beyond that, as long as you are on PC, I have not tested it yet, but I did recently find out that iRFFB mod for iRacing (i really should install it for iR) was ported by someone to ACC, so there is ACCFFB, and I think the "seat of the pants" setting may be of help, I know what I am testing tomorrow, lol.
