I wanted to branch out with this channel and try something a little new. I know this is not bushcraft but it is carpentry which is a form of woodworking. I have been getting really into building rustic furniture as of late and thought I might show y’all a little of the process. In this video, I build a Cedar table from scratch out of a Cedar log that I got from work. All of the work was done by yours truly. Let me know what y’all think about future videos regarding carpentry and furniture building. Thanks for clicking on this video in particular and if you enjoyed it and/or like our content, be sure to mash that SUBSCRIBE button! It helps us out a TON!!! Have a blessed day.

  • Very creative. Such an unusual mixture of natural and "straight up n down"! Gorgeous grain. Great job.

  • Nice build. Remember, the planer doesn’t make a board flat by itself. It will only mill the top side to mirror the bottom side.

    • @@BrokeBoysBushcraft Absolutely! I live in central Texas and we have a ton of cedar everywhere. I’ve been into woodworking for a few years now and I’ve just started to get interested in making stuff out of cedar logs and using a chainsaw to process them, because that’s all I have. Cedar is so beautiful. I love the slab you used for the bottom shelf on your girlfriends table. You did a great Job!

  • Hi. Can I use tung oil first and then polyurethane or epoxy as the final coat? Thx.

    @gldf111@gldf11121 күн бұрын
    • Yes, you just have to make sure the tung oil is fully dried. I would also recommend using an oil based polyurethane instead of a water based

  • May I ask, about how long did it take you to build this?

    @FacePlantPROs117@FacePlantPROs117 Жыл бұрын
    • A couple of weeks but that was with a full time job as well as other life responsibilities. If i had to lump it all together probably around 16 hours.

      @texaswild7466@texaswild74662 жыл бұрын

  • Does the wood need to be dried or anything??? Kiln???

    @superCisco@superCisco3 ай бұрын
    • I let the log air dry in a shed for like a year. Ideally, it would be best to kiln dry but I dont have one. The dryer the wood is, the less likely there is for wood movement and future cracking/splitting. Nowadays, there is such a demand for lumber, most big box stores like Lowes do not kiln dry which is why the boards are usually warped before you can even get them home

    • Was gonna ask the same thing, a neighbor of mine is an arborist and just dropped about 20 fresh red cedar logs on his property from a job. I went today and loaded my truck up, he had a bunch of black walnut slabs he did with chaisaw, huge like 3 inch thick 2 to 3 wide 6 feet long. I do Chainsaw carving I cant wait to make something for him as a thank you.
