Tuskegee Airmen are some of the most patriotic and honor deserving American veterans of all time... in my opinion. These men fought for their country... a country that considered them second class citizens. They accepted a huge responsibility, an assignment fraught with unimaginable discrimination and relentless bigotry... and they succeeded. They opened a door for the next generation... and opened the eyes of a lot of other people... opening minds. RIP Capt. Lawrence E. Dickson... You're coming home.
They more than succeeded, they became an elite! Thank you for taking the time to write your comment for the benefit of those not familiar with the Tuskegee Airmen extraordinary story.
Indeed! They cracked open the door.

I absolutely agree with you, but what happened to the next generation, the 13% we have now?
Heroes all of them . Respect them all.
Thank you for your sacrifice Capt Dixon
Last fall, Chicago media reported the story of the identification of the remains of Lt. Eddie McGuire, a white USAAF pilot, who had been shot down over Romania. It is gratifying to know the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency is treating African-American WWII MIA service members with the same respect and diligence in trying to find their remains.
Wow, what a GREAT STORY OF A GREAT MAN! John P.
Thank you for returning him home! It is an honorable undertaking to return one of our missing heroes to his final resting place! God bless you all!
Thank you all!
I had the honor of meeting and being in the presence of Col. Theodore A. Wilson from the 'fighting 99th, who was gracious enough to sign my A-2 jacket liner at the VA Med center in San Francisco some time ago in early 2000. He was a gentle quiet man and very humble. My respect to all of those brave and honorable men. Truly an inspiration to me!
We need to honor him along with all the other men and women who gave their lives in hopes of a better world. It is the least we can do to bring his remains home for a decent and very respectful burial. It is the efforts of men like him that have ensured we remain a free nation capable of enriching the lives of not only our countrymen but the people of the rest of the world. I for one salute him and hold him in deep respect.
My highest respect and admiration for ALL of you. God bless.
That was a true American right there. If he knew how much we have back slid since then he’d be greatly saddened.
Its truly shocking tnat your last President called those fallen heroes "suckers and losers". This from a coward who got his service deferred because a well paid doctor said he had "bone spurs" America has certainly fallen.
@@batcollins3714 He did not say that. You either made that up, or listened to a leftist liar
@@holliday0191reported by by Jeffry Goldberg in The Atlantic (SEPTEMBER 3, 2020) and confirmed by former Trump White House chief of staff John Kelly (NBC, Oct 3rd 2023). Trump made similar statements about the late Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. Besides, it’s the kind of half assed, fire-from-the hip comment that one would expect Donald Trump to make. Full disclosure - I’m not American and live in Europe so just saying…
Rest in Peace, Sir.❤😊😢
respect, always
Great work by all
Thank you for your service Captain Dixon, Sir. I hope there is a follow up to this initial story with good news so his family can have closure after all these years. It is sad that the young student said it was not a request from the US Government to attempt confirmation of Captain Dixon's remains, but hopefully this effort will have favorable results.
Rest in Peace Sir. From RAF St Athan.
Wow! I often hear that the US Military never leaves anyone behind and this really brings this home. That no matter how long it takes we will bring them home.
God bless and a sharp salute to all of those great patriots. Welcome home, Capt. Dickson.
a heroic man...another unfair death...fighting to stop a fool...thank you, good sir, for your efforts for mankind
Well, did they find him or not?
Is there an update?
If he was not shot and just had engine failure don't you think he probably jumped out and was killed at some point later? Either trying too escape being captured or during captivating. Maybe by angry civilians who are angry of all the bombing. Same thing happened in Vietnam. You would hope the soldiers got too you first because the civilians hated you more then the enemy soldiers did.
You didn't show that you found anything to id him!
It will take months digging with tooth picks and tooth brushes o.m.g. slow
Hard Corpse!
Tuskegee were put in Italy because, number one, they had to have a legitimate black representation in American WWII history. Second, Italy was not as critical as the northern European theater, and the liberals that arranged their involvement in the war at such a capacity could get away with it at little cost to interfering with missions with larger orders of magnitude. Remember, blacks were not recognized then as they are today, and that had to be mitigated. Another reason blacks could not be used in missions in Germany was due to the fact that their mere presence behind enemy lines would have been a dead giveaway to the Germans of allied presence. In a time when blending in could well save a squads life while shot down behind enemy lines, having a black would have instantly alerted the Germans and got them killed.
@IDrone-zk2It: That none critical theater involved hundreds of thousands of men and thousands of war machines and aircraft between 1943-1945. Allowing black people to risk their lives for people whose attitudes towards race were often not any real improvement over their enemies was neither a favor or an experiment. American jim crow and western colonialism were easy propaganda targets for their enemies so the Allies did some face saving window dressing.
ma'am: "Ummm" isn't a word. you would do yourself well if you eliminated it from your vocabulary.
Relax. It's thinking out loud. Give her credit for trying to give a thoughtful answer instead of something which some yahoo is sure to call "rehearsed." Everyone's a critic and usually about the irrelevant crap.
It's good your finding our military personal that pilot should bring his family some comfort he home! May the good Lord bless each one of yo!
