This Was The Last Thing I Expected To Catch In This Community Pond (20 lb Beast)

I threw some cutbait into a community pond expecting to catch some channel catfish. I hooked something huge and quickly realized I had something much bigger than expected. It turned out to be my biggest fish of 2024 and it was living in a tiny pond.

    • Thanks, someone probably threw a baby one in from the river a long time ago. Or maybe a few of them who knows.

  • Stealthy fish. Hook setter must work well preventing it to swallow the hook. Its a Tank indeed. 🙏🎣

    • The hooksetter worked pretty good on this day but if I'm going to be using it for flathead catfish I definitely need more powerful springs! This guy over powered the hooksetter and very nearly took my rod out of the holder. Thank you!

  • Great video! Too bad the Hawks lost, but it was a heck of a year for them! That really was an epic catch, nice Flatty!

    • Thanks, that was a tough game but what a season! These neighborhood ponds can have some real surprises!

  • Awesome cats. Looks like the one has a rectal prolapse. It usually happens when the fish fights really hard, pressure from spawning or bad eating habits like eating to many freshwater mussels or clams. The flathead was a nice surprise for sure.

    • I hope they can recover from a rectal prolapse. My guess is that they can't. In hind sight I probably should have eaten that fish even though it probably wouldn't have tasted great. The flathead was an exciting catch! Thank you!

  • Awesome giant flathead. That one with the... "protrusion." Gross. LOL

    • Thanks! I think the channel with the intestines coming out maybe did that because I hooked it kind of deep. Hopefully they can go back into the body!

  • Sorry about your Iowa Women's BB team. So close. I have a hard time walking away from a hot bite! Great stuff, and love my new BA shirt!

    • Sorry this comment got sorted into a different place. Just now seeing it. The womens bball team had a good run. SC was just too loaded - they deserved to win it. Ya, it's so hard to walk away. It seems I'm finding myself in that position a lot lately. Thanks for buying a shirt and for watching!

  • I got Chiggers (I think) at this pond, was miserably itchy for a week and swore to never go back, you may have changed my mind.

    • Chiggers are no joke. You better go with the long pants and DEET!

  • Do you know the history of this pond? It looks like a catch basin for an industrial park area.

    @dennisneuhaus2607@dennisneuhaus260711 күн бұрын
    • It's a drainage for a small creek that comes from the neighborhoods surrounding. There are some commercial buildings but I wouldn't call it an industrial basin.
