As a goalkeeper, who made his own fare share of bloopers, even though you saved many many goals, it's always only one or two that you always seem to re-live. ALL goalies have days where you just want to go back to bed and start again.

Having watched plenty of football games, it certainly isn’t the worst own goal ever. There have been guys scoring own goals with stunning headers from +20 meters, bicycle kicks from same distance, pathetic touches while trying to be fancy... This girl’s og is definitely a normal one. Shit happens. I hope she got over it quickly, as it’s part of the game.

This is why you never make a pass straight towards the goal. If you miss, it's only a corner kick, not an own goal.

- @@elpeluca7780 It's not about the passer missing that pass, but the GK missing that pass. It doesn't happen too often, but when it does, it's a stupid goal that's hard to regain. Hence why you never pass towards the goal, but only towards the line.

You never pass the ball to the goal keeper, sending the ball in the direction of the goal. The ball is always sent in the direction of the end line, precisely to avoid these type of home goals.

Two mistakes there 1. We are always advised to pass to the gk outside the net areas just besides the pole ,this way even if the GK misses it, the ball will simply just go out for a corner. 2. Stopping the ball by planting it onto the ball is definitely not the way to do when the goal is literally behind you and she has barely any press on her.

Defenders, pass the ball to the goalkeeper at such an angle that it would not enter the goal box even if missed.

Lesson to be learned here? Don't pass the ball back towards the goals, always knock it wide of the posts.

- @@No-Stack-Developer No, it's not. It's common knowledge. If you pass back between the posts there is always a chance of this happening. Pass back wide of the posts and the worst that can happen is a corner.

- @@No-Stack-Developer Ha ha. Off you go little boy. I've forgotten more about football than you'll ever know. It's part of training now a days. Players are coached to pass back back wide of the goal. If you concede a corner, then you at least have a chance of defending it. It's percentage play. If you knew anything about the game, you'd understand this basic aspect.
