Kratos and Helios being ironic bros for 9 minutes straight
God of War Ragnarök is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is scheduled to be released worldwide on November 9, 2022, for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It will be the ninth installment in the God of War series, the ninth chronologically, and the sequel to 2018's God of War. Loosely based on Norse mythology, the game will be set in ancient Scandinavia and feature series protagonist Kratos and his teenage son Atreus. Serving as the finale to the Norse era of the series, the game will cover Ragnarök, a series of events that bring about the end of days, and depicts the deaths of some of the Norse gods, which was foretold to happen in the previous game after Kratos killed the Æsir god Baldur.

    • @@thegoldenbrickstone I'm basing what I know of Helios on what little we see of him before all this. In the Chains of Olympus ending, he has like 10 seconds of talking time, and he was very formal talking about him even going "should we help him?" when talking to Athena. In GOW3, the gods are already all messed up by Pandora's box, but when Kratos takes him down he still shows gratitude to Kratos and admits he owes him for saving him in CoO. He only turns sides when he realizes Kratos wants the Flames of Olympus, knowing what Kratos plans (kill all gods/destroy Olympus/kill Zeus) it's reasonable that he immediately tricks him.

    • Explain. Because the way I see it, when Kratos tore Helios' head from his body, Helios was defending his home and his family. Sure, Helios apparently still owed Kratos a debt. But what would be more important to you if you were in his shoes? A debt, or protecting your home and family? Besides, I'm still not sure exactly how Helios was still indebted to Kratos. Kratos saved Helios, but then Helios saved Kratos. So unless something else happened since Chains of Olympus, they should have been square.

    • @@mitchellhayward6492Exactly. While Poseidon and Hades both held direct grudges against Kratos it didn’t seem as though Helios really bore any ill will towards Kratos in fact considering himself as owing Kratos a debt of gratitude. Kratos likewise didn’t have any direct ill will towards Helios. However, Helios was understandably trying to defend his home and family which in Kratos’ eyes meant he had to die as he was standing in the way of his vengeance. If that wasn’t the case Kratos would’ve spared him. That’s what makes Helios’ death unjust imo, if anything aside from Athena and Aphrodite it seems as though Helios was pretty much one of the few Olympians that Kratos could have considered a “friend” of sorts but he died for defending his home. I see a lot of people comparing Helios and Hermes’ deaths as being similar situation wise but to me the big difference with Hermes is that Kratos would’ve just walked on by him as he didn’t think he was worth his time until Hermes (stupidly and arrogantly) decided to provoke Kratos to get a rise out of him. From a game mechanics point of view it made the most sense for Helios’ head to replace Mimir for portions of the game but from a story perspective I think there’s alot more to it than that - that being that Valhalla projected Helios because Kratos felt the most guilt for his death over the other gods he killed in his quest for vengeance.

If kratos didn't know touching it killed u already at that point, he would have died. Helios tried to trick him into dying. Then when called out for lying he tried lying again. And at that point kratos was done with second chances.

  • I really hate the direction of the game has taken, Kratos isn't sorry one bit, helios deserved it and saying it was unjust is false. Keep in mind Helios and his brothers were against him, he was going to kill Kratos otherwise, i swear the devs haven't played the old god of war, where helios tires to kill kratos while he's fighting a Chimera Kratos would havw forgiven the gods had they just made his life miserable, instead they also made his Mom's and brother's life hell. Zeus made Kratos kill his own mother who became a monster I don't plan on buying or playing Ragnarock anytime soon, they have destroyed a beloved franchise beacuse Cory felt that Kratos should be a dad beacuse he is one, David Jaffe and other old players hate new Kratos because he isn't Kratos, Cory is ignoring events from GOW 1 and 2 like how Kratos whenever tired to have a family the gods would destroy it. Go Cory you a White Knight, you destroyed the only thing about Kratos which made him Kratos his anger, hatred, frustration and resentment towards the gods. Im sure Anita Sarkeesian will let you hit it

    • I kind of forget what happened in these games a week after I play them. I remember the old storyline feeling like it was written by a teenager, but in a fun way, but I also knew it was dumb. The new one sounds like it was written by a dad, and I think I was compelled at the time, but I also didn't really care after because it was still just a video game story. I wouldn't let this stuff affect you too much. End of the day, Kratos is just a sony mascot who exists to make money, nothing more, nothing less, and I think this game sold well. You might as well b**ch about Mario's narrative not being dramatic enough for all the good it would do you. Also I wouldn't want to hang out with anyone who honestly says any version of Kratos influenced major parts of their lifestyle, but that's just me.

    • Helios' death was indeed unjust the way it happened, the death itself maybe not but the method most certainly, if you'd played the old games and paid any attention you'd know why.
