Great job. Initially, I was scared that that magsafe attachment was for charging, but saw that you understood OnePlus charging ! Thanks.
I love magsafe charging in theory, but it's just so unnecessary!
Thanks you for the video!! I've been waiting for It since your last op12 video 🥳
Thank you for the video! Great work!
As for the charger, it is worth buying the oneplus duo port charger. It REALLY can charge normal power delivery (PD) at high speed. So it can also be used for other devices like laptops. The in box charger reaches full speed (100 w in Europe and 80 w in US) by sending two halves down the cable. It will only be max 40 or 50 to non oneplus devices like laptops. The duo OnePlus charger has a more fully pd specked usb c port and can send the full higher wattage to a non OnePlus device. I will leave this newer charger in our dining room so my wife can charge her laptop along with me using it whenever I need it. My original charger will move somewhere else that is more for just me. We can both benefit from the newer charger, including for guests. I also got their duo car charger, which won't mean I'll use it often, maybe just for top up if needed but it is more fully specked pd for non OnePlus gear. Win win and worth the money.
Update, I got the dual chargers for the wall and car. The only part of the system that works in the full oneplus way is the usb A to usb c port. The second port that is usb c is "only" usb power delivery. This is fine but worth understanding. You see, the oneplus cables that are usb c to usb c are not triggering the warp charging. And in fact those cables are not even going to full power delivery speeds. It's a bit of a drag but both good to know and need to know. My extra oneplus usb c to usb c cables now only work fully on my older charger. During this checking I also found that the older OnePlus long usb a to usb c cable that came with the oneplus 3 actually work at 100 watts on the new system. Im digging them out for use.and ginna try to order a couple of them. (Often sold out at oneplus but available at other sellers)
That explains why all the warp chargers are still Type A these days. I wonder what the holdup is there
I ordered the USB A to USB C ones and got them cheaper by buying the longer ones that are labeled Dash charging. (They lost the rights to use DASH since someone else had it before them) my OnePlus 3T was (I think) the last one where it was called DASH.
Update to update. I got some third party copies of OnePlus dash cables. Same flat wire same length same color but "dash" is not printed on cables. The phone announces 100 watt super vooc so the wiring is correct but the app I use to check wattage shows the wattage jumping up high but ramps down. So the phone can see that something is different in the wiring (maybe thinner wires with more resistance?) So the third party wires aren't as good as the originals. I bought two and might send the unopened one back. It's important that they are made by OnePlus.
@@gmosc that's really peculiar. I wonder how the phone identifies a OnePlus cable.
@@Wildman-Tech I think they short two pins. Samsung Did that for a while.
Extra info about OnePlus charging. There are several features that make it better than normal fast charging AND actually better for the battery than NOT using a oneplus charger. First, voltage is converted in the charger itself and that keeps some heat outside the phone. Second, there are two batteries inside the phone being charged in parallel which both saves time and makes less heat (recognize a pattern here?) and third the speed itself means that the amount of time the battery is hotter is tiny. Battery degradation comes from heat times the amount of time it is hotter. Slower is not better if it means elevated heat levels for longer time cooking your battery. So normal power delivery is probably worse since the batteries are not charging in parallel. The parallel charging comes from the charger sending two charging lanes to the phone, so you also need the oneplus cable. With this in mind, it is worth having at least one extra OnePlus cable.
Hoo dang, you got me there. That's a good point. I expect that most trickle charging situations would generate less heat (enough) to offset the impacts of a warpcharge, but maybe that would be a fun experiment to try
@@Wildman-Tech I have the app called Ampere which can show lots of info during charging like wattage, voltage, and temperature. I use it to check cables. I've only used OnePlus fast charging since my 3t (and 6, 8t and now 12, the OnePlus one didn't fast charge) I've not noticed reduced battery life on any of them. Life is too short to try to make it "better" by planning some slow charging. Also now that you can set it to stop at 80 percent until going to 100 percent just before waking up night charging is possible (if you absolutely need the phone to be ready when you wake up.)
please recommend some accessories for OnePlus 12r also ❤ keep growing
I have a case just like the first one you showed. It has magsafe, and I was able to get it on Amazon for 17 bucks!
Oh awesome! I'll have to look for that
@@Wildman-Tech and they have a cheaper one now that's 13 bucks
Nice video! I have a tip far a really good screen protector. It's a Nillkin curved screen protective film that very much feels like a glass one. It also comes with a mounting rig for perfect fit. The best soft options I've tried. Maybe worth for you to check out? 😊
Oh that's great to know! I'm definitely a Nillkin fan, so I'll have to give that a shot. I hope eventually someone makes a glass one that doesn't suck, but until then I'd love a good premium film protector
Omg, your videos are amazing! You deserve waaay more views and subscribers! Btw, what camera do you film with? I see that it's 1080p, but it looks so 4K! 😅
You're too kind, thank you! I film with a Sony A7iii with a Sony 55mm 1.8 lens
Accessories for OnePlus and other smartphones out there are not available in the US as much u can get them online but if you go overseas it's abundant Nokia created the first wireless charge phone and Samsung created the first wireless charge phone in 2015 Apple introduced them in 2017 same with the smartwatch Samsung first Apple later
Side note, the older in box chargers, were more fully specked with pd and my OnePlus 8T charger can charge my wife's laptop... And of course can give 65 watts to my OnePlus 12.... And of course, the in box OnePlus 12 charger can charge my 8t at full 65 w speed
Is the camera lens available on Amazon?
I can't say for sure that the exact one I have is available on Amazon, but there are several camera lens glass protectors available on Amazon, and it's not rocket science to have a thin flat circular of glass, so I bet nearly any of them would be good options!
Actually I have tried some from Amazon , but those just fucked up camera quality. Those glass protector attracks finger prints like magnet and even after wipe the impression is present
Keep it
cant use magsafe on my phone as i machine steel at work so small little steel chips will get attracted to the magnet and stick to my phone :P
Oh damn, that's an interesting scenario. Good thing magsafe isn't all that amazing anyways lol
3:15 oh that is so Apple. Hehe😂
I can't wait for Apple to invent split screen apps!
@@Wildman-Tech they'll do it on the iPad first..... Oh wait, they already did! Sort of!
@@gmosc Actually, my dark secret (for an Android fanboy) is that I really do like my iPad Pro. It's no sincere replacement for a laptop, but it does a pretty great (edit: spelling) job at about 75% of it
@@Wildman-Tech I am a musician and all of my friends use ipad pro..I only have a cheap 9 inch ipad about 5 years old now. My large screens are android and Windows. With my cheap ipad I can benefit from airdrop if needed at a gig. I often know more than my friends and solve their ipad problems. They don't get as techy into it. My recent shock to my ipad using friend was plugging his iPad into my 20000 mah battery that can charge up to 100 watts. He couldn't believe that his iPad could actually CHARGE from a battery. Normally his external battery only keeps it from losing charge. My desire from apple is for them to make a large screen ipad that isn't pro. Rumors have been in the works of an ipad air 12 inch. I refuse to pay "pro" prices just to get a large screen. The rumors are ramping up again, but I won't get my hopes up.
@@Wildman-Tech If a device is beautiful, functional and fulfills the needs it was meant to. I would be the same. Thanks for the video, insightful. Cheers from Australia.
