Spring Fly Fishing an Incredible Small Creek! (Native Brook Trout)
FLY FISHING AN INCREDIBLE CREEK FOR AN INCREDIBLE FISH!
Native brook trout are native throughout the eastern US and the driftless region... they're the state fish of multiple states and one of my favorite trout to chase on the fly! In today's video I went fly fishing in one of my favorite little creeks to chase down some of these Appalachian treasures.
I had a short hike in to where I wanted to fish and the water levels were perfect. I started off by throwing a dry fly which performed well. After a little dry spell I decided to try and throw a small streamer and see if I couldn't catch a slightly larger trout. After fishing a handful of good holes with my streamer I was able to catch a few beautiful native brookies, fish anyone would be proud to catch!
I hope you enjoyed this no music video! Subscribe if you haven't already!

Great video and THANKS for no music.
Absolutely the most beautiful fish in the world. Beautiful creek and surroundings. Gorgeous day. What more could you ask for. Great video and always tight lines. Tony
Thanks Tony!
Quite a beautiful stream - many thanks for sharing this wonderful outing with us!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching
What beautiful scenery and such a glorious stream and what beautiful fish. You're a real star casting with all those trees and bushes around. The videos are far better without any music, keep them coming.
The most beautiful fish in the world! Too bad you didn't land that really nice looking colored one in the 1st big pool. Hopefully another trip to that stream will rectify that. Another great video Johnathon!
Yeah it was a bummer but I still got on a few decent fish! Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it
Very nice John, I enjoy hunting the Brookies more than anything!! They were some little sharks!!!
Always enjoy your videos…can’t get enough of them. It looked like a pretty good day to me! lol Brook trout may possibly be my favorite species of trout. They can be so colorful…like little oil paintings.
Thank you! And I agree, native brookies are unmatched
Awesome video, always excited when you guys post!!
Thank you!!
I wish I was young enough to fly fish the rivers, I just Yak for Bass now though. Vicarious trout are good though, thanks man.
Bass fishing is fun too! But trout have my heart, thanks for watching!
Loved this stretch of water! Your so-so day of landing some brookies would be an awesome day for most of us. Colors on those males were spectacular!
It's an awesome stretch of water for sure! I think in retrospect it was a better day than it felt like I was having at the time... but I just know what kind of fish live in that stretch of water. Thanks for watching!
Just terrific. Thanks.
16:25 Lovely spot just to sit and watch trout.
Another great video from hardman fishing adventures! 🎣
Thanks for the support!!
@hardmanfishing I never miss an upload. And I have watched all your older videos 🙌😂🤣
Greetings from Brazil sir! Welcome to the jungle 😊 Amazonian monsters waits you.
I’d love to see you make a video sometime explaining how you read the water you fish, it’s incredible to watch your casts and fly placements so I’d love to know how you see a stream when you look at it
Hello there !! As always an awsome video ! I just love the soft relaxing intro before the no music video !!! On there own no music videos are already immersive, but now with that into twist you are far better immersed in the fishing experience !! What a great job you did on this video ... And as always amazing scenary and fishing... Dude just continue your videos are freaking amazing !
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed that little intro, I think it added in a little bit of context for the video.
Always a treat Jon, 👏👏
Thanks!
Thanks for this fishing video. The natural sounds of nature is by far better than back ground music! Thanks, God Bless n Fish on
Glad you enjoyed it!

You have to! It's a blast!

I really enjoy the no music, I feel like Iam right there with ya. Nice fish BTW.
Thank you!!
I am amazed how he can cast at all with a long backcast without snags. Streams like that I have to sneak close and roll cast
love your vids, greetings from chile

Hi John, nice vid. Again. Pity for that large prospect on 9:15. Have you ever tried to fish 2 dry flies? (I usually do with 2 nymphs). Good decision to switch to a streamer at the end. 👌
Nope I never have but honestly I've thought about it multiple times. Maybe I'll try it and make a video about it
Great video. I had a quick question for you or anyone in the comments. I recently got into euro nymphing and have been having trouble with my line tangling when using a two nymph setup like the ones you use in your videos. How do you recommend I prevent this from happening? Can I set the nymphs up in parallel or would that prevent a lot of strikes from occuring?
Awesome video!
Jealousy: the green eyed monster. I have a bad case of it after watching a great video by HFA. The creek, the brookies, the rock outcroppings and the play-by-play.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
I’ve always wanted to know how you can get your flies to flaot so good, I always love to watch your videos, so could you please make like so how to videos to help for if some people get stuck on something or for when they are getting started, that would be awesome if you could
Of course!
Andddd we’re back!!! What’s up boyyyyysss!
You are convincing me to take a trip to WVA
Not a bad day of fishing at all. If I catch a couple of wild trout I consider it a good day. I hope to hit a trout stream Monday with some wild specs.

Love the natural music vids. Just curious what do you use for sighter material?
No sighter since I was using dry flies in this video!
What about it you are euro nymphint???
What rod length and weight, and line type are you using in this video? You making casting look so effortless 😮 Edit, you clarify this at the end of the video, keep it up, awesome content 💪🏼
If you ever travel to another state, you should go to Utah and do the Utah cutthroat slam! There are 4 species of trout you need to catch. Such as the bonniville cutthroat, Yellowstone cutthroat, Colorado cutthroat and the bear river cutthroat! You can go to the website and it will show you a map. I don’t know just spitting an idea if your interested and would be a fun vid to watch and the fishing is great
I will for sure do Utah at some point! I'm working through the western states but I can only do one a year usually. Last year I did California and I've been to Colorado a few times.
Loos like fun
If your in West Virginia let me know! I live in Tucker County
what kind of net do you use im looking for a good small stream net
Catch Cam net!
is there a reason you have your line looped around the rod before the first guide or is it just an accident?
That was just an accident, I've noticed it happens when I'm walking and casting or just in a hurry. If I'm nymphing or dry fly fishing I notice it quickly, but with streamers I don't tend to notice it. It always annoys me when I got back to edit the footage LOL
It’s incredible how many folks put good videos on you tube and then destroy them with background music. They think it makes them professional but, I’m here to tell them it does not.
I used to do more of that living in New England, that is before the ticks became unbearable. This time of year you’ll have barely visible nymphs climbing up all over you and I don’t care too much for having to use DEET and Permethrin all the time.
Treated for Lyme 9 times, East Branch of the Swift in Massachusetts is Lyme country...beware
Use a cheap net, your only catching Tiddlers.
