LA county has fined mother nature for preforming roadworks without a permit
all that excess tar needs to be put to use; too many pot holes.
If they did that the city leaders would not get the kickbacks from city contracts anymore
This is one of those small things they show in a disaster movie right before it hits the fan.
Volcano
When Mother Earth herself decides to fix the potholes
I'm going to watch that movie volcano now
Lance Washington I was thinking the same thing!
That cheap movie
@@Jinnoth HATER
We just watched it in Biology class. It’s pretty good.
NBC has a new show coming out called la Brea on 9-28-21 about a huge sinkhole caused by the tar pits and prehistoric life in the sinkhole... Sounds fascinating.
That's how volcano the movie started .....
Neo Bailey Literally was just thinking about that! And the current spike of seismic activity along the Fontana fault line. One of my absolute favorite movies growing up and my first thought was “yeah, don’t panic y’all.” 😏 I’d be moving asap.
Yikes.!!!
That was made by a bunch of amateurs

For old TV fans, that building behind the reporter ( 2:06 ) was shown a lot in the original Melrose Place. It was the location of Alison's job. Curson & Wilshire..
A lot of pressure building up for a earthquake
Dutchsinse pointed that out today on his KZhead Channel. :)
@Jay REED only if Nancy Pelosi was in California when it happens
@Don Juan 🤡🤡🤡
It's amusing that the La Brea Tar Pits, where helpless unsuspecting victims became stuck in something they didn't understand and slowly died, is right next to the SAG-AFTRA building...
You're awesome Philippe!
In 20,000 years some paleontologist will dig them up and marvel at the idea of a fully formed human getting trapped in tar
Animals bro

It will be interesting that future generations will find homeless people covered in tar and fentanyl addicts who ventured into the tar to pick the pockets of others only to wind up stuck and become a fossil
Thats funny 🤣
Ah the old hobo tar trip works like a charm.
Aaaaaahhhhhh Ha Ha Ha Ha Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !
When I was 4 or 5 I watched Volcano with my parents and proceeded to be plagued with chronic nightmares about lava for years. I know how this story goes!
Ya..... who had la brea tar pit volcano on their natural disaster BINGO Card?
Keep an eye on Yellowstone , things aren't looking good for that region at all now.
You weren't the only that had nightmares with that movie
and the earthquake just hit 7.1 on 7/5/19
Streets that automatically repair itself 🤔
Oh yes, because it's normal to see tar coming out like a spring.
it actually is normal
welcome to nature
It is....
If you build a city on top of the "La Brea tar pits" than you ought to adjust your definition of "normal" 'cause mother nature is gonna do what she's gonna do. And in La Brea, mother nature is gonna vomit tar.
This was our warning or alarm clock... The streets are begining to open up.
Self paving streets
That's from the stone age nice
What do you expect when you're building on a tar Pitt, Brea means tar right?
Tar is a refined petroleum product. This is not TAR, it is CRUDE OIL! 😂
Who's here after the new NBC show La Brea?...
😎VERY NICE SUIT JAKE!!!⭐️✨
You can’t stop nature. I really did like seeing the tar pits and museum.👍
In other news, water keeps flowing from Old Faithful.
Sounds like they need to reinforce the foundations and vent the gases safely before something bad happens.
Sounds like you don't have a clue as to what you're talking about.
Awesome.
Has the sink hole opened up Yet? Lol
So- why was this news? The La Brea Tar Pits are close by, and it’s TAR!
Its fascinating...
I’m a little surprised that no one was sufficiently on the ball to point out that what is seeping to the surface at the “tar pits” is not true tar, but asphalt. Of course, that makes it about the least problematic thing to be bubbling up on an asphalt-paved street. Obviously, the city roads department will want to clean up the excess, but it’s not a contaminant that will erode or degrade the pavement.
2:13 Flips bird
🤣 now I see it. People are like children sometimes.
That's funny😂😂
Good one!
Didnt Volcano start this way? 🤣
Earthquakes a coming.
July 4th 2019, 6.4 quake 120 miles NE of L.A.
If your the news wouldn’t you want to ask the USGS a couple questions on why this was happening obviously USGS did not want to talk about it why? did they know something the rest of us didn’t
Scary that alot of people dont know this is leading up to a big ass earthquake if this pressure dont subside expect a 7.5-7.7 be ready people
Well for the past 2 months they been doing construction right there so they might of cracked something❓❓❓❓😮😮
Fernando Vago yeah the red line train to santa monica
If the water starts washing of soil away from under the foundations, the Pesan towers will appear soon. We will hear This is Big Ben from London.
Tar-est attraction...🙄 And today manhole 🕳 covers are blowing out. Nothing to see here, keep the tourists coming.
1975 called man, they want that suit back
IS THIS STILL OCCURRING???..🤔
I Remeber years ago a volcano erupted at la Brea tar pits in the 90s LA city did a good job on removing it tho
I saw a show once where that very same area erupted into a big lava-spewing volcano and hot lava started flowing down Wilshire setting things on fire and people running screaming. So they should be careful.
Literally lol.
The movie was Volcano.
Was it a butthole after eating taco bell?
@@OriginalJohnDoeFakersBeware oh gawd! Are you one of thoes gender people too?
@@OriginalJohnDoeFakersBeware yet your the one talking about things that are oozing and steaming and bubbling
Only the beginning.......
Technically it's asphalt. Are we getting extra seepage because of the road construction there? Is it a sign of the beginning of something worse? Did the subway system destabilize the bedrock?
This literally happened in the movie guys
The whole city will go back to tar
hey I'm just checking in that was the report 3 years ago is it still going on
just showed up for me, in my feed. The "nature fixing potholes" comments are priceless.
I love tar!
I would guess that some sort of vent tubes can be placed there to capture the methane and additional tubes to give the tar a place to go. You'd think they would have done this years ago to mitigate the seepage before building a city around a tar pit.
So, I found the answer to this. They do have pits underground to catch this stuff and it can be pumped out when full, but heavy rains caused it to overflow into the streets and they pumped it out to mitigate this issue. Still, I would think they shouldn't have built a city right on top of this.
@@need100k Economically - they needed the tar to water proof wooden ships 200 years ago. Free tar equals cheap-o ship repair at the ports.

Yeah you'd THINK.
You think they wouldn’t have built all of these large cities in California without Water they don’t have. Tar isn’t a problem
Someone call Tommy Lee Jones! Lol
I walked thru that park in 95 there were chicanos chilling around the edges and I noticed that the lake was littered with beer bottles toys and trash ....

"There are no La Brea Tar Pits in Scotland!"
Ghostbuster II or Beverly Hillbilies...First thought...lol
I bet la Brea tar pits was actually bigger than what's inside that fence..?
It's part of the "Salt Lake Oil Field". It's under most of West L.A. and Hollywood. Also, it's actually asphalt and not tar, but that's just semantics to most people. There are also big fields in Huntington Beach and Brea California. I remember when I was a kid, there were hundreds of pumps all pumping it out everywhere in Southern California. I also remember playing with a cousin up near Calabasas and sliding into a brook that I thought was water that was actually oil naturally coming up. Imagine your kid coming home covered in oil, lol!
Best to be getting out of LA now, the fires will break out big time when the faults split open soon due to the Cascadia quake that is going to rock the NW coast at 9.0!
Ya right peopke so stupid

How is there still so much tar after so many decades of mining it?
Because the earth continues to produce it.
