  • I actually thought at the beginning that this is not deep and just a joke song. Now I actually see the message in the song. “Is there something wrong with the way I look? Is there something wrong with who I am? If I'm not alright, tell me why do I Feel so beautiful tonight?” It’s an anthem of being yourself, being true to yourself and not care about what others think. Being happy. Don’t care about the haters 🎉❤ Call me what you may, see if I care, see me slay! This is probably what world needs now.

  • Clearly, this show divides opinion. To those who love it and those who hate it. Those who love humor and nostalgia, to those who don't understand it because they haven't lived in the era described in the song. The song also has an important message for all of us: Be yourself. Don't follow the crowd, but build your own life.

  • Windows95Man is actually an experienced DJ playing all kind of music. During gigs, he's wearing a Windows 95-shirt, a similar cap and very short denim shorts.. That was inspired by trendy festival goers, as means to draw attention, shock value. This has been his DJ image for ten years already, same shorts ever since. Sometimes he does have Clippy on stage dancing. The singer and co-producer is Henri Piispanen, who is a professional singer in many indie bands, and also a Finnish voice actor for 25 years. 🙂Both are very sweet, friendly and smart guys. Concept of this song is to free yourself. No rules! Don't live by others' rules or expectations, don't let others judge you, have fun in your life. It's not a joke, anti-ESC song. The denim egg: this is after our national epic "Kalevala." In that book it is believed, that the world was born from an egg of a goldeneye. Yeah! So, the singer Henri is like the bird with the egg. W95M is hatching from the egg pantless, and in the end he gets his shorts which descend from heaven 😄💥 This stage show was totally different compared to the others acts at the UMK 2024 (ESC tryouts). With humor, quirkyness and energy they won crushing by televotes.

    • Precisely, none of the other songs were good live. This was NOT on my list of winners of the umk leading up to the finals, but (partly pressed by my offspring) voted for it over Sara and Sini because it just blew the others out of the water. And what do you care, ESC, we can't win anyway! *Bitter pouting* However.... If Ruoska had been a contender.......... 😏🏆

    • Yeah, and eurodance Music is like this, simple and kinda flat singing etc. In my opinion this song hit the spot nicely. Wondering if this guy really knows about eurodance. And Henri really nails those notes like it was back in the 90s

  • It's funny how some people find Henri's vocals amazing and some say he can't sing at all. To me he is struggling a bit with a couple of the highest notes but other than that he sounds just great. And the song is catchy, dansable, singable, nice melody, good message and Win95man shouting here and there is an interesting addition.

    @blobfish1112@blobfish11122 ай бұрын
    • I mean the highest notes are a stretch already and then they had the genious idea of adding a whole tone key change at the end :P Feels like there was inspiration from the key change Bon Jovi - Livin on a Prayer and the falsetto in A-ha -Take Me On. Both songs which every guy thinks they can sing when slightly drunk at a party but most usually end up failing!

This is sailing into the final, getting jury points from Iceland and Australia only and then getting 150+ from the televote.

  • I love this song, and the live performance, but I'm based, because I'm Finnish. This song was a surprise winner because it wasn't a big favourite before the live show, and once people saw the energy these guys had, it won the public vote. I don't know y'all's names, but I think the person in red sweater got what's up with this song 100%. That was my first reaction, too. The funny thing is, I hated this kind of music in the 90s. But I love No rules! Oh, and always end up picking songs we love, regardless of whether we think it's gonna win. Last year, I just really wanted people to see Käärijä. Same this year with Windows95man. This is so perfectly Finnish, a bit odd, very funny, and a little cringe.

  • Before seeing your reaction, I would say you are the bunch who could appreciate the artistic and the funny part of it. They're artists and they said that they purposefully made a piece of art - it can be seen as humor, but it is always for the viewer to decide. But they're not doing their art as a joke. If it was, it wouldn't have won in Finland, they said. I think we Finns have a particular sense of humor and like to troll a bit. Last year we totally earned the win, which we then didn't get. So here - have fun with this one. :D We 100% are not trying to do the same thing again, never occurred to me it was a similar "fun entry" when I was voting for it. Before seeing them, I was sure to vote for Sara who sung a ballad and then came in 2nd, but this performance just stole my vote. Also, the singer, Henri Piispanen, wasn't supposed to perform in this. He was supposed to be a producer of the song, and he ended up singing in the demo. And then they decided, that they wouldn't/couldn't find anyone else better, so he needs to perform before Finnish audience. When we Finnish audience found out about this, and saw their performance - we then just troll voted him to sing in front of ~200M international audience. :D No really, we also liked his vocals which honestly and surprisingly were the best of the night of UMK (he has a lovely chest and mix voice, not always on point in this live performance, you should check the official music video), and the 90's parody vibe of the song and their performance. I think it's a brilliant celebration of the 90's pop song culture and the computer culture. Spreading the message of pure joy and authenticity, have space for artistic expression, not needing to be always perfect and polished

  • I have strong opinions on "Denim Dan" aka Henri Piispanen, ever since seeing UMK, and then seeing their winning performance. And also listening to the other stuff he sang in (he's in 2 different bands). I absolutely love his voice. I agree that here the vocals are a bit off in places, but a lot of that seems to be nerves, the second performance from that evening is much crisper and clearer: kzhead.info/sun/nNRwotWxpaKlm5E/bejne.html Also just because I think it's such a great song with incredible vocals, here's a live performance of "Brother" by Kontio Polaris, where he's the lead singer: kzhead.info/sun/nsyLdKekkYmOpKc/bejne.html I listened to all studio versions of the umk songs and No Rules! would have made it maybe 5th in my ranking, but watching the live performances they were the strongest act, and at least 3rd, if not 2nd strongest vocally for me. I did not expect to rank them that high because quite frankly I think the song is mediocre at best but fun, but the live act really sells it for me.

Don't mean to sound rude, but I know that I sound rude saying this but then again, it's also a fact 😀 If the song is trash, if the staging is trash then that is perfectly fine, because that is your own individual opinion and taste. • I 100% (or maybe I should say 95%) agree with Tyler, and yet I still love it. Fun, campy, and has pushed the boundaries of cringe so far that it has become art, this song should do really really well with viewers. It's just the right amount of cheese that Eurovision needs, and you gotta love a song that doesn't take itself seriously. There's a difference between a terrible song/performance that thinks it is amazing, and this masterpiece, which knows that it's trash, and doesn't give a damn!

  • Tyler, if you think you can sing that well, please do. Make a video of it. Sing in the same tempo, same octave, and make the same movements at the same time. I'm interested to see how well you'll do. I must mention, that many _professional_ vocal coaches or musician have actually aploded him and his skills. • Thank you for your reaction! You found some ideas behind the song and the staging, but let me explain with more details! it’s a fun entry with deeper meaning lyrics: Is there something wrong with the way I look? Is there something wrong with who I am? If I'm not alright, tell me why do I Feel so beautiful tonight? No rules! It's how I live How I find the wind beneath my wings, It's how I learn to fly! It’s an anthem for being who you are 🏳️‍🌈🎉🎊 And at the same time it’s a birth story based on Kalevala, the Finnish mythology🦅🥚 Love the message and also how it combines the Finnish mythodology Kalevala where the world is created from the goldeneye’s’ egg. In the stage performance the singer Henri represents the bird (see the similarity of the movements the clothing and Kalevala inspired boots) and the Windows95man is born (as all humans) naked. The stage coordinator tries in the middle of the song give the rules to our hero but he throws those in the air. He wants to be free and understand who he is despite what the others want him to be! He is looking for his jeans shorts and finally they descent from the heaven (mythodology) and our guy becomes Windows95man and starts the party with cheerful fireworks!💥 DJ Windows95man have been dj:ing now 11 years already and he is also a visual artist and using Windows95man outfit since over a decade. Henri Piispanen is professional singer and voice actor. Check out KZhead for his band “Pasa”. They met while doing this project and liked each other’s and decided to participate in ESC. he mixing of the audio in the YLE video is really bad. The people in the arena heard Henri’s pure clear vocals as in this Nokia Arena audience video: kzhead.info/sun/bLOBaNyqiXZvoaM/bejne.htmlsi=67A9TGAsSa6wCBRK

  • I disagree in some ways I actually really do enjoy this song. As a song it's really catchy and fun and it has been ringing in my head like Cha Cha Cha last year. windows obviously isn't a singer so those parts I didn't really enjoy as much but he's the main DJ so it's important for him to be on the stage. I think he's there to help out on the show cause without him, nobody would see it as different compared to the other entries from other countries. it's a mix of fun and seriousness and I think even if a serious song was sent I'm not sure it would win unless it was like amazing live. like there was Sara sipola who had a good song but it didn't match the expectations live, I think it's overall very engaging and perfect for Eurovision because Eurovision is the XFactor or The voice, overall it's about the show and performance. So honestly, this is in my top 5. I've listened to some of the other entries that are considered "serious" and I didn't find anything special about them, just another song you hear on the radio. 😅 That's my opinion..

  • Yes, it's a song contest but that doesn't mean the metrics for a song are how staid, serious and kept within the confines of some genre with a dull technically 'perfect' but characterless singer with a perfect range who proceeds to show it off when it lends nothing to the actual colour of the song.. we're not about American Idol earnest bellowing genre dullness with ESC. There are people who fail utterly to understand the art of camp and actually how hard comedy is to pull off .. way, way harder than drama or in music, earnest emotional love ballads and pop songs, which are ten a penny, are utterly worn out as a theme, and thus totally safe and comfortable to the mainstream that doesn't like any edge or challenge to their listening, just safe copies of what came before. Comedy is the easiest thing to fail at as stuff is either funny or unfunny = nothing in between . W95Man lands their 'jokes 100% with the audience through creative presentation and their song is actually catchy and lyrically, quite meaningful, a giant eff you to people hidebound by rules and conventions to the detriment of joy in life and actual creativity. I really like it, it's not my favourite but seeing it dismissed as 'crap' is missing a lot IMO, including the spirit of Eurovision. I know if ESC was a US phenom it would be entirely different and lack all sense of humour and be some corporate hell of plastic fantastic Beyonce types who yell every lyric to show off their range, but come on, try to appreciate something outside the old box eh?

  • And by the way Finland loves this family. We always want to hear your honest opinions. No faking. And I love the moments where you disagree. This song is something different by Finland and I respect that. Do I like the song as a Finnish born man who loves music more than anything else...HELL NO!!! I hate everything about this kind of music. BUT in Eurovision level...this is actually good choice for people of Finland. :D

  • Whatever made you think of Finland as "good sports"? As i neighbour, I love them, but their biggest known traits are knives and vodka... They're "sisu", not "good sports". Good luck 😊

  • If you watch Finnish UMK finals...you will see that Windows95man was the only one to manage that live stage performance. I was hoping that Cyan Kicks will do fantastic also live...but that performance was total letdown. The woman singer did fail so badly. Sara Siipola who came second was basic ok...but the song is too average. Windows95man is all about Eurovision. Camp, parody of old times....stage performance..art....You hate or you like it. But you will remember it although you would like to forget it. :)

  • I am so distracted by this performance, like every time I see it, that I still don't know what the song is about. After 5th watch, I conclude that this is a hard-to-listen performance. Whether intentional or not, the singing is bad and it is jarring

  • It sounds like the music of a cheap video game from the 1990s. The show is engaging, the idea of the Win95 birth is funny, however I don't like anything about the song, there are washing machines that play better melodies.

  • I low key hated this when it was chosen because I found it more trashy and tacky than camp and fun. Song AND staging. Still not a huge fan but I’ve learned to tolerate it. I’m sure it’ll qualify from a televote only semi AND get some televotes on the final - there will be a lot of competition for this type of song this year though with Estonia and presumably Croatia, so… who knows how many. There is a way to draw from the 90s - for me this is not it and I find the staging more dumb than fun. It’s like being slapped in the face and just too much of everything. But like I said I’m sure it will be successful in the semi at least, so there’s that.

  • When people laugh at you for liking Eurovision; it's songs like this that cause that stigma. It's dreadful, really bad singing and not a lot happening of any meaning. I loved Kaarija and other "joke" acts over the years but this misses the mark in so many ways on so many levels; it looks worse than amateur- worse than karaoke. My heart will sink if this qualifies.

  • I totally agree with Tyler - it is totally bonkers. It’s a song contest and not a crazy stage contest. I was hoping that Saara Sipola - was winning the UMK, to represent Finland with the song Paskana. I love her voice, the modern beat and flirting with late 80 early 90s synth sound. 🌸😘🇫🇮 kzhead.info/sun/p7tmmdyuamadoIE/bejne.html
