The letter Peggy Ann reads to the journalists at the end is just so right. Courageous girl.
Intelligent too, to have been able to analyze him so well. Truly the answer to all social ills I'd argue is love and compassion. All he ever wanted was love, like all human beings and there's no telling what one may become without love.
I can not even imagine the depth of that man's loneliness, and to be that desperate to find someone to be with. So glad that Peggy was found alive! Thank you for this movie. David Morse is a great actor!

Every parents worst nightmare. This breaks my heart seeing the smaller kids all praying for her and her tough father trying his best not to break down 😢

Heart warming movie. It's sad that it's a true story. I wonder if she ever got over this trauma. I feel very bad for the FBI agent who lost his life... He had a wife and 4 kids. Very sad! Loved the way her little sister prayed for her return. Beautiful movie!

This is not the first time David Morse characterises a person with mental health issues he does it so well (Winnie 1988). A very good cast overall and a well presented movie of a true crime. It's great when it ends well for the family involved. However, it is sad when a life is lost in the process. My condolescences to the family of the FBI agent.
And don't forget his performance in DESPERATE HOURS with Mickey Rourke and Anthony Hopkins... I've been a hugh fan of this man... He can play any charakter you can dream of.... One of my favorites is his singing and dancing scene with Bjoerk in DANCER IN THE DARK...

Can you imagine the fear ?😦 . He was an absolute lunatic. The way he was slapping her and his mood swings were giving me whiplash. I'd have serious PTSD after a day in the woods with him. Amazing actors, great movie 🍿🎥

I've seen this movie here in Germany a long time ago.... Since then, I've been searching for it on DVD... No chance 😢... Great performances of Meghan and David... Remember her when she played in SILVER BULLET and the ANNE movies....

Strong understanding lady
He gave me harmony! When I was a little girl of age, something bad was done to me, that caused so much damage, as that little girl's heart broke into sadness, by some adult's madness! The abuse gave me many years of agony, until I surrendered my life to the Lord, and found myself in harmony. Finally I understood that He always had loved me, and He had felt the pain I felt ; that made my heart melt. He helped me to forgive the abusers, as His love for me changed my heart for real, and He little by little the wounds would heal. Today, my heart aches for those who have gone through the same, and thought it was some adult's game. I pray for them with deep compassion and sorrow, as I hope for them a better tomorrow ; and that they will turn to the Lord with all their agony, as He is the only One who can give them harmony! 25.12.2020.

Great movie about a true abduction. That poor girl.
Not poor at all! She put words of strength in compassion in her letter and learned to UNDERSTAND the depth of her assailant. Not many are capable of it as reactions of hate take over! The masses have lost the teachings of overcoming their ego self in order to reach profound truths of the psyche. They rather are lost in their cyber space bubble with empty chatter, but hard times are coming that will show each individual what they're made of!

This is such a sad true story, the loss of lives human and animals and the loss of something that nothing can change - rejection of a human soul from birth or before. Peggy showed compassion at such a joung age and to have gone through so much! Life 8s so precious and loving is essential for all creatures ❤ How sad that a person lost his life and left behind a widow and children. 😢

It is surprising that this was the true story. It is stupid of the police to shoot at the kidnapper with a hostage. It is a pity that an agent of FBI was killed trying to capture the kidnapper ,who had an wife and four children . Such a criminal should be executed with a guillotine.
We all help to contribute to these unbalanced people. Remember that when you allow your children to tease and bully others, when you are unpleasant to folk or shun them. Human contact is something we all need to remain sound of mind. It is no excuse for killing, but don't think you haven't at one time caused mental anguish in others. Every now and then will come a person that will seek revenge for how he/she perceived society treated them. Some will just take themselves out of life. If we were all better people would society be a safer place? Think about that next time you pretend not to see someone as you walk by smug and uncaring in your life.

if the kidnapper had not accidentally got near from those two officers, police and agents were still chasing that kidnapper forever. thats how lame and useless they are
