  • I loved Namaari from the beginning. Even though she is “the villain” it’s so much more than black and white. As a person with a lot of empathy, I could understand her very well. So I never hated her or thought of her as a bad person. Just a girl trying to make her mom and land proud.

    • @@cajunlizard I just want them to stop making these fucking movies. Of all the production companies in the world, it was Disney who I thought would be one of the few remaining that made original movies without being predictable every step of the way. Sure, the animation looks great, but today, that's not really hard to do, and you can't rely on your visuals and say fuck it to the rest of the film.

  • Gonna be honest, I really enjoyed this movie, I love Raya, Sisu is a bit naive but still likeable and the supporting characters are really fun. Namaari is, without a doubt, the best "Villain" from Disney we've had in a LONG time, she's intimidating, competent, cunning, complex and has a real presence. Every villain we've gotten post Hades and Syndrome were really bland a forgettable that depended to much on the twist but we get to know Namaari and see what makes her tick. It helps that she and Raya have a wonderful dynamic and are just fun to watch together. It's like Catra and Adora they just have fantastic chemistry throughout the film. The action is fun, the plot is well written and the climax is, IMO, one of Disney's best. I WANT to see more of Kumandra and these characters and there is so much potential for this world, even more so then any other Disney property. Hell, I'd love to see Kumandra as part of Animal Kingdom or get an Uncharted like game that allows us to play as Raya along with a TV series. This world is amazing, Raya and Namaari are interesting and there's so much that can be done with this world that I really do think Raya and the Last Dragon deserves a sequel. :D

      @youknow3881@youknow38813 жыл бұрын
    • @@youknow3881 Silver was a great character but the movie, IMO, failed him by making him more of a anti-hero AND had it so he failed to get his treasure. Long John Silver is a villain, he may have a soft spot for Jim but that's all it is, a soft spot. By making Silver more of an anti-hero it undercuts his character so while Silver is great in that movie it doesn't quite capture what made him a great villain. For me I think Tim Curry is the best Long John Silver as while the film still fails him by having him get his comeuppance (he actually gets away scout free with some of the treasure in the original novel) it remembered that Silver was a Master manipulator and a villain. He loved Jim like a son but in the end, he was still a villain. What I like about Namaari over TP Silver is that she DOES succeed for most of the film. She managed to locate the Dragon Gem and reveals it's location to her Tribe, beats Raya in their second fight in the film AND gets Sisu killed. While that last part wasn't intentional it does make Namaari a more accomplish antagonist then any other villain we've had in a long time. Hades managed to make Hercules mortal, took Hurc's powers away from him, indirectly got Meg killed and successfully invaded Olympus. Syndrome (the last great Pixar villain IMO) managed to indirectly shut down Superheroes, killed God knows how many Superheroes, defeated Bob in their first encounter, captured the Bob Twice in the film along with the rest of the Incredible family AND successfully had his robot attack the city. Again, TP took away Silver's success from the book in favor of saving Jim so while he is a great character I don't count him as a great villain. Treasure Planet did capture Silver's relationship with Jim Beautifully but he spent to much time being threatened and outsmarted by others.

  • I am gay for Namaari and I'm not afraid to admit it. I live for the fight scenes, the animation, the music! *chef's kiss* I have to say that I'm kind of disappointed how they just brushed of Raya's obvious trauma and that she (the victim) was kind of expected to fix the relationship between her and the one who caused her trauma (Namaari). While Namaari was also just a child that was manipulated by her mother, she and the entire fang nation didn't really come to the conclusion to feel guilty for what they caused until Raya came along. Actually, She never even said sorry for it. They just forgot about it. And instead, she blamed Raya for Sisu's death as much as herself, even though she still had her hand on the trigger the entire time and Raya's reaction was caused by trauma and valid. So I'm a little scared on how this could affect kids in the future, who'll think that it's your job to get along with the people who hurt you. I think if this would've been a series, this could've been better explored and executed, similar to She-ra and Catra's redemption.

    @strawberryfox8819@strawberryfox88193 жыл бұрын

  • Am i the only one who doesn't see any similliarity between Korra, Katara and Raya? Korra and Katara between each other yes, but not with Raya. It's just really diffrent, like Korra and even Katara just had outfits made more for the cold than the warm like Raya..

  • i think Raya is one of the most badass princesses of all disney. Like, she's the only princess that already knows how to fight, all the other ones (like Mulan, for exemple) learn how to use a sword at some point in the movie.

  • in an alternate RAYA universe, they would've been great friends, grew up together found SISU together and Kumandra would've been achieved, no drunes, no hatred, no commotion, no drama. but humanity loves drama.

  • “You know, for the danger only happening 6 years ago. The majority of these cultures adepted pretty well and pretty quickly” Fang already made their canal during the war. And lucky for them, it also protected them from the druun. If they made it after the druun appeared, it would be to late. And Talon was built on water. Young raya described it as “a floating market”. So they had a natural defense against the druun. So Fang and Talon were lucky. Raya was the only survivor of Heart, (because she had a gem piece). Tong was the only survivor of Spine. And in Tail most peppol where turned to stone, but some survived. Most of Tail was a desert, and thus, for a druun, a good place to be. But in the scene were they met Boun, there were some villagers in the background. And technically, they were stil in tail. I assume that only those who lived close to water survived. But that wes never explained.

  • It's nice that Disney made a totally original and diverse character for the Southeast Asian community! Fun fact: Daniel DAE Kim also played General Fong in Avatar the last Airbender. I also love that Raya's actress Kelly Marie Tran was willing to take the first step even after the hate she received for playing Rose tico in Star wars. (My message to Kelly Marie Tran. I don't know if she's watching this but, if anyone does anything or say anything to make you feel unwelcome, Resist that!) ❤

  • The best part of this movie, is ultimately, all Sisu did was trust everyone. Sure, it bit her a couple times, but she never gave up. And her choice to trust everyone set up the domino chain that led to the world being saved and the Druun re-banished. Raya's paranoia and distrust did nothing but slow everything down and make the journey harder. So many of those problems they faced could have been solved potentially just by Sisu boldly presenting herself as a dragon and declaring her intent to again defeat the Druun. The only real area they'd had problem would have been Fang, and that would have been a brief problem... all Sisu really would have had to do was talk to the leader of Fang and she likely would have abandoned her plan, and likely just tell the different leaders she needed the Gem Shards to defeat the Druun again. How do I know this? Throughout the movie, different people from Talon, Spine, Heart, and Tail ALL rallied immediately behind Sisu LITERALLY AS SOON AS THEY SAW HER TRUE FORM, and the princess of Fang, basically this film's direct antagonist, had a massive crisis of loyalty just from seeing her, too. One that would have likely ended in her changing sides if not for the... accident. In Talon, Sisu was even put in danger by Raya's paranoia! The leader of Talon wanted to know why a random woman was walking around seeking Dragon Gem Shards, and ruthless enough to threaten to feed her to the Druun if she didn't get answers. That same shrewd old lady would NEVER have questioned why SISUDANTU, THE LAST DRAGON, would be seeking the Gem Shards, and, since the people of Talon want the Druun beaten as much as anyone else, she likely would have handed her Shard over to Sisu to make that happen! Sisu could have rallied all of Kumandra behind herself if Raya hadn't insisted on her staying hidden due to her distrust!
