I love that the Fighting Machine at the end is actually the first ever design drawn of the Martian Machines (even if Wells hated the design, it not being as organic as he envisioned).

The first one's were in a magazine, Alvim Correa' design (the tripod at the end) was actually what convinced Hg Wells to put the tripod just like that, besides a small description about how disappointed was from the first illustrations and how pleased was for the new ones (the tripod at the end)
