I daily mine and it's always a hoot to drive. The noise is hilarious but puts a smile on your face no matter what mood you're in.
Compared to now it's one of the slower hot hatches. 2.0lt turbo are a lot more powerful these days and significantly lighter but most sound crap. Speed isnt everything, often sound is more impressive to onlookers and R32 cant be beat on that.
This car is also 14 years old without a turbo and technology of these days. What do you expect?
The moment a turbo is put in its got potential of hitting 500+bhp

Picked up a DSG 08 last month, sounds unreal even with standard exhaust! Drinks like it’s got a fuel leak though 🤣

Don't be drawn too much into the performance figures of these. There's plenty of power for you to lose your license, and if its been well maintained, the grip through the corners is excellent 👌

That’s the best spec R32 I’ve seen 🔥 sounds nuts too. I’d keep it for a while and enjoy it because they won’t go down in value now anyway. Fuel bill will be a lot though 🤣 especially when tempted to always put your foot down and listen to that soundtrack

yo nadim sal here, hope ur well. ive had mine 6 months now but its currently back up for sale. like u said it sounds insane, has good character but i cant justify the fuel it takes for not so much power output and the tax is ridiculous (aparently going up again in april) watching your video though has made me think twice, shall i just keep it or not as its my daily 🤣🙈
It’s a wicked car but the road tax and fuel is just too much to daily drive even though they are going up slightly in value you kind of lose the money gained in the £580 road tax per year! I think it’s a car that’s good to tick off your list and you’ve experienced it for 6 months so leaving it up for sale is the wiser decision because these older cars get expensive in the long run 👍🏼 and when you end up in something faster and cheaper to run you won’t look back 😂

9mpg... wtf... I have had my Golf Mk 5 R32 since new in 2008. Its now done 93,000 one owner and I get 20mpg when driven in anger and almost 30 when you stick to the speed limits.. I'll agree it has a wonderful exhaust note. Even Clarkson said it was one of the best sounding cars ever made.. Something seriously wrong with your set-up though. When a prospective buyer is told he will only get 9mpg .. they might think twice...
9mpg I’ve not driven it on a long run yet that’s all start stop local driving. Exhaust note is heavenly

I had a mk5 R32 and I agree. Booting it I used to get around 12-20 mpg

I have a stage 3 supercharged MKV making 400whp and still get 14mpg with my foot in it. 24mpg cruising at highway speed limit… No way that caR can get 9mpg - you must have mis calculated…
