List price is £184 for those who are wondering :)
hey when are you making that turbo for the rotary engine?:)
@@io504 or $220 (USD)
Johnny, I'm a little sad that this is just a commercial for BG....and that you didn't do anything to it....
@@RichardCournoyer- agreed. It was only 30 second in I realised that he had not made it. Disappointed, as he could do it so much better!
Beautifully done. From coal mines to desktop toy this engine still fascinates me.
If it was made of solid 925 silver it would be a sterling stirling engine 😆
WRONG! There is "sterling silver" and "stirling engines" . Nice try but you fail on your spelling.
@@mealex303 Sorry! just saying.
@@sailingsolar what???? you didn't say nothing but sorry????
@@rickdees251 dude, really?
@@emmettmartin2639 Really.
four big flaming wicks burning, the entire engine is producing a small single source of artificial light.
It is powerful enough to charge a cellphone if you wire up a 3V-4.5V boost converter with USB output.
My dad and I built a model steam engine with a pulley system that could either pump water up to a tin can tank that recycled itself, or hooked up to a Walkman motor that powered a mini street lamp. It had a bit more torque than these things though. Pulley size can have alot to do with rpm and you might be able to squeeze a bit more torque out of the Stirling that way, but not much.
oh, and a flywheel. jesus, people
Nice workmanship on this. A credit to who-ever built it. Wow would go real well in a sunny spot.
Its been 3 week glad your still making some vids ! Keep up the awesome work and merry Christmas
Merry Christmas johnny! Thanks for the christmas present in the form of a video!
This only proves that anymore I am capable of watching almost anything!!
It looks great, sounds like a box of nails though lol
In a washing machine or a brick in a washing machine
XD nah, more like a lawn mower
Like most 4 cylinder engines do
Love those glass cylinders. Nice build!
You can buy it online already built.
so cool thanks Johnny!
This is awesome! Now I want to try and build my own!
Awesome! Cant wait to see how you can improve its performance
Happy Holidays JQNinety
Really pumped for the next RC Car or Nitro engine Video as i have bought my First Nitro RC Car now
This is amazing wel done fella, I love this channel
I like watching Stirling engines. It is wonderful with a beautiful engine
Merry Christmas
Impressive little engine once again! I bet with a proper shrouding design it could run just as well with only 2 burners heating all the cylinders.
it looks to be Voltswagon compatible, ) Nice work!
Johnny could you do a review on the engine you are useing in your rc car i was thinking about buying two for a 1/8 scale rc btw Merry Christmas
Ah! Box it up. Put Molly magnets on fly wheel to power cell phone / or led lamps . For emergency power/ camp generator. Alcohol easy to make, and Cary.
0 ft ibs of torque 😂
Its a working model with elastic bands etc yet it does produce torque , scale it all up with proper bearings and ignition it would be interesting to see the result , its aim i think is a small powerful motor ..good luck to them i say ...
No need for ignition source, these engines work on temperature differential, you can run them by cooling the chamber instead and the engine would just run backward. A sterling engine could be used to recover energy from any waste heat source, like exhaust gases or coolant of an internal combustion engine.
Probably makes like 2 in lbs of torque
a work of art, worthy of notice.
Wow this so nice.... πραγματικά παρά πολύ ωραίο
Of course it had be an RGB 4 cylinder stirling engine.
That looks sick bro keep it up
That's a product you can buy, it's not his own build.
Anvilshock sorry 😂
Also could you make a vid with it running on vareing amounts of cylinders please?
When you absolutely only need mW worth of power. Maybe power by solar w/ magnifying glasses?
Nice alarm clock!
The V4 is very popular and very efficient for a sterling engine design. Kockums make a V4 submarine version with a narrow angle between cylinders that burns diesel and oxygen. The tolerances of sterling engines also depend on the design.
Is such a beautiful clean piece, I don't think I have the heart to light it up to even have black stains on the glass tubes. Although I can clean it, it will never be the same as brand new. PS: I really wish they made a V8 one.
Looks beautiful 😍
I love this engine so much!
Wow! Really fast and powerful for a Stirling engine! Even if there are 4 pistons
saudações do Brasil + like. saudades dos vídeos do JohnnyQ90. boas festa pra ti e família. prosperidade e sucesso.
ooh you should combine 2 of these into a stirling v8
you will soon get aa gold play button keep it up
This is so cool! Stirling engines can be implemented in so many things, we underestimate its potentail!
loleq21 Yeah, but with next to zero torque, they are extremely impractical. Fun to watch, but that's about it.
@@sigaries4062 kzhead.info/sun/es1rmN6JkWprnqs/bejne.html
That's well cool may have to get one
Have you tried wrapping a copper coil around the head and chainging the metal piston to a magnet?
Looks awesome a bit loud though .
What a thing of shear beauty ! Wish these little things would be able to generate a little more torque than they do so far.
OMG, THAT IS SO FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!! I've never been so impressed by anything. I'm beside myself. I want one so bad.
You must live a dreadful life if a video of a rattly shelf ornament dwarfs anything you've ever experienced.
I have the exact type of Stirling engine but it is a 2 cylinder
Looks like it could put out a decent amount of power. I’d love to see this thing with some type of a load on it. Very impressive
Looks like it has a small generator on it on the front right and led light running in part of video.
He put load on it with his finger and stopped it. That's why you don't see them in industry, next to zero torque, no matter the size. Fun to watch and play with, but that's about it.
What if you change pistol with a magnet an wind a coil around the cilinder would it generate electricity?
what about your turbo rotary engine?
Mod time! 😂 i need a fan and shroud to cool the cold side, and ceramic cnc bearings for the lowest resistance and highlight speed possible! Gonna set up a 10/1 reduction drive system to capitalize on rotational inertia.
Great. It can overcome it's own friction. Now load it so it can do some useful work.
Did you know that latest generation submarines are equipped with stirling engines because they're the most silent type of thermal engine, making them practically undetectable to passive sonar? Neither did the people who built this one! ^^
Wonder if Tesla style rotor engine would be effective against sonar. I'm guessing probably not but supposedly they were really smooth running engines until the rotors expanded enough to cause catastrophic failure.
@@Falcodrin : Electric engines probably would be better than any other thermal engine (far fewer moving parts, no back-and-forth motion), but you have to generate the electrical power from something. Batteries don't have the power density required for extended operation. Though according to Wikipedia, people are now looking into fuel cells. Also, what's that rotor expansion and catastrophic failure you're talking about?
@@piranha031091 maybe he is talking about the Tesla turbine. Not the induction motor
@@acynder1 Oooh... Makes sense now!
@@piranha031091 Are you serious? What rotor expansion and catastrophic failure. Tesla turbines are immune to this. I'm a certified member of the Tesla turbine builders association. Ok big deal. What are you talking about?
You get more light off the flames than you do from the LED.
LOL
It's a bit rough around the edges, but someone put quite a bit of thought in to it, note the slanted heads to account for the round bottom of the cylinder tubes. On a side note, i've always wondered how these would work with a heater coil instead of using flame.
With a heater coil and a cooling coil this will pronably run better
Why the fuck would you want to use electricity to drive a heat engine directly??
Yeah i want to hear that under my hood than my 350 chevy
I knew a guy that wanted to make a huge one..like, one cylinder 3 or 4 ft. around...I laughed at him. Even at that size, it would still have little torque. I told him that if it was productive enough, everyone would have one. Still a fun little engine. My dad and I used to build model steam engines though so maybe I'm biased. lol.
That’s really cool
How much revs did it reach I'm sure it can beat a scooter but don't think it can handle external resistance I mean stress on crankshaft
Hook it up to a reading light
next time a 2 stage s-crew compressor pls
Awesome. 👍
Sounds like my mini cooper
Damn I want 1.
Please! Use mirrors to convert that into a solar powered engine!
Great rpm! What's the torque?
This is the coolest thing
I think you should try to build some sort of small vehicle body for these small stirling motors to sit in and find some way to power the wheels to see how fast they'll go. Or find something else to power with them. I'm just really interesting in seeing a small, efficient Stirling engine power something
It's probably possible but not effective. The Sterling engine can be made to operate very efficiently but for most cases they serve only as a novelty since the power you receive off a difference in temperature is quite small.
@@Falcodrin I know that they don't make much power. In the real world, they only work in very large applications, hundreds of liters for the cylinder. But I still think it would be nice to see a smaller one put to use
@@thecooolguy1 honestly it's quite close to a steam engine in function and design so it can be made to work there are just reasons it's not seen. Similar to Tesla turbine engines the downfalls are just too much to overcome the positive.
beautiful
Now to fit wires to power something
This is truly genius
Let me gues. You improve it :D
That was satisfying
You definetly need to do an upgrade video at some point
turn it into an emergency phone charger
wha-why?
Dafaq?!
I have a two cylinder stirling engine that does exactly that.....charge my phone. Why did I do it??........because science💯💯
what happened to the turbo build im waiting
2 cylinders on one crank pin. It looks familiar. Like Harley Davidson design. HELLO.!!!!!
Obviously not a great design.
What is name (link to)your background music. That is a beautiful one.
That's a cool little engine. It must have some pretty loose tolerances to run without lubrication. Unless, the fuel is the lubricant. Merry Christmas Johnny!🎅🌲
do you know how a stirling engine works?
@@marc_frank Why don't you tell us all?
@@bullwhipjohnson8247 the only fuel is in the "candles" on the sides. all it does is make a flame. you can research the rest yourself.
@@marc_frank Somebody needs to lay off the Scrooge Juice!
@@bullwhipjohnson8247 so you know it already?
Amazing
You have a great potential You can direct your potential to make the best as large engines in addition to innovation in terms of energy to make suitable engines to generate electricity with solar energy or coal fuel or ignite the oil fire, and heat storage through dissolved salt 👍
Faltou colocar a turbina de tesla ai haha
well now its time to make a v8 with 2 of them connected together
If it was green it’d be Stirling Moss!
Have you tried using ice to power it
I'm pretty sure a hamster running on a wheel is more efficient than this. Or maybe anything is. A small windmill, a running stream turning a wheel... hand crank generator...
😦 ... it runs on cats as fuel ? I can already hear the engine Roar : “ Mmmiaouuwwwwwww..”
Most important question. What's the peak horse power at WOT?
STR8JKT blahblahblah 0.00002 lol
That tiny engine is rated in "mouse power"...not horsepower. 😆
Very nice
Make a Stirling engine that is powered by the heat of a computer's CPU.
...and use that to drive a fan to cool the CPU! Oh....wait... :)
Это шедевр!
It would be more powerful if it were a Stirling Vtec engine
It would be even more powerful is it had "Made in USA" decals on it. 😆
What do those devices connected to the ends of the crankshaft do?
Spin.
Open flame - as efficient as King Arthur's fire place.
bruh in slow mo would be nice tho
Needs to be installed on a small toy boat
JANE! STOP THIS CRAZY THING!!! JANE!!!
If this isn't a Chinese clone it could actually be their very first really cool invention .
Ha ha ha
Also i glaub des is a 8 Zylinder Alpha
Do you have an engine light this you can't constantly have fire unless you cover up it in a secure matter
When r u gonna test the nitro rc u engine swapped
Sounds like a honda 😋
