  • Just a PSA here: The elderly are not the only ones vulnerable. My husband is NOT tech savvy at all!! I returned home from one of our kid’s baseball game to find him completely drained of color, shaking and on the verge of tears. Because he was on the phone I automatically assumed someone in our family had died. He was so shook he just handed me the phone and collapsed onto the couch. The man on the phone was in the middle of telling my husband to say goodbye to his family because the police were en route to arrest him because he didn’t have $10,000 to pay to avoid arrest. The man was telling him h would be in prison for 5 years and he was a worthless father for not paying his taxes and deserved to be locked up. (I made Perogi’s rant sound like a polite speech from a dignified head of state 😂 ) My husband was so shook he 🤮 It took weeks for him to truly believe it was a scam because he just couldn’t understand how another human being could do this to another person. He asked for my reservation number and dates. He stated he had added the wizard number and I was all set. About 10 minutes later I got a call from a male stating he was an Avis supervisor and was sorry to report that due to a glitz in their system the rental was canceled and he needed to refund my credit card and then reserve a new rental. After watching your videos I smelled a rat and began telling home that a refund was not necessary and to undo their mistake. So we went back and forth a few times with me insisting that he should take care of the problem on his end. He got frustrated and hung up. But that was not the end. When I did get the real Avis rep by phone. They told me the rental had been canceled and when I tried to rebook the scammers kept disconnecting me from Avis. I had someone interested in my item who told me they could 't pay for my listing. Then proceeded to tell me to go get an Amex card and use it to confirm my account and sent me an email with a bogus link to do so. If it wasn't for you, I might have fallen for it. I appreciate you @Pierogi and feel better about recognizing these scams because of you. Thank you!

  • I used to work for direct express!!! That’s where the SSI/SSDI checks get deposited!! Those cards are issued to recipients that don’t have a direct deposit method!! What’s so messed up is that 9 times out of 10 this is the only money these people have to live on! 😢 having been the rep who had to file those disputes and then tell them it can take up to 90 days for the refund to be issued was hard. There are times they barely scrape from one month to the next. What’s worse is these people gain access to the accounts and start with penny or nickel charges then from one moment to the next they are pulling most if not all the money they have in their accounts. Then when disputing them the cards are cancelled and reissued and that can take up to 2 weeks to get in the mail. Scammers have no idea what they do to the people they target.

Please also contact the colleges they attend or plan to attend ( the scmr planning to study eng ) cos let's face it any college will be vv happy to know one of their students is a scmr n would drag the college into great disrepute. He's saving people MILLIONS of dollars, mostly elderly people who are not tech savvy or even understand computer basics.

  • One has to ask how morally devoid these people are that they will ask someone with mobility issues to walk 9 miles just so that they can strip this person of everything that they have earned. It also begs the question of how these people would react if the boot were on the other foot and it was one of their Family who were being scammed. You are doing excellent work, Pierogi; it's just a shame that the Indian authorities aren't looking into this with the same enthusiasm to close down these places that you are.
