Jikook Analysis: Jungkook's Long Stare At Jimin - JK's 2020 Birthday VLIVE
I got an itch to make a video again, y'all! I see this moment pop up on Twitter at least once a week, but the popular interpretation of the moment that Jungkook is checking on Jimin and only looks away when Jimin smiles is different from what I took away from the moment. I finally decided to sit down and explain what I believe was going on in this moment, why it made me so sad on the day of the vlive, and why I was so happy the next day with the Jikook moments at the "Dynamite" press conference.
It goes without saying, but please know I am not a mind reader, nor a body language expert. These are my interpretations of Jikook's behavior and should be regarded as such. You have every right to come to a different conclusion from the same moment because, at the end of the day, none of us know WTF is really going on. Haha.
I also want to note that when it comes to the body language analysis here, please recognize that just because I attribute some potential "feeling" to a body language cue, doesn't mean every single action is a sign. Sometimes, an eye rub is just someone scratching an itch and it doesn't necessarily have underlying meaning. The idea behind the body language analysis is to recognize clusters of behavior in a certain context. Some of the cues I point out may, in fact, just be the boys scratching an itch. But, overall, I think the clusters of behavior I point out do back the idea that they were stressed out.

I keep saying the biggest evidence of jikook is the other members' reactions, especially RM. Just see how RM reacted after JM said he was with JK. Look at Jin. It's like they've all had discussions on what's appropriate to disclose about their relationship and for anyone, that kind of conversation only breeds stress. I only hope JM and JK are happy despite it all.
RM cut Jimin off 3x during this and Jimin was upset every time!

I totally agree with your every word! RM‘s reaction after Jimin revealed he was with JK was so obvious too. They both looked so relieved and satisfied that it came out in the open because they wanted to share the truth and happiness like the other members could. There’s no denying that Jikook are in a relationship and have been since what I think 2016.

V in my opinion is always want to be in the way of both PJ and JK. It’s not about jealousy but he knows so well how PJ feels for JK, so telling the whole world his chat w PJ in a way telling everyone that PJ won’t come to him means PJ is somewhere else in his room non other JK. But how he tells it sounds like af made PJ look bad to JK. If you are truly best friends you should protect your best friends heart. I never hear not saw PJ do that to any of the members let alone V. Jimin and Jungkook have left so many clues and indications that they are 'close' 'together' 'Involved' whatever you want to call it. I think back to JK's choice of song lyrics for GCF 'I don't wanna lie no more, I don't wanna hide no more' says it all really! I just have a feeling that if they go all the way they might choose to live in another country where they can be free to live their lives in peace and escape the homophobic society they are in. Jimin is my bias, I think he has more balls, more courage more empathy and more love than any other idol I have seen. He is a very special human being. If I had one wish, I'd give it to Jimin for sure.

I am with you on that wish completely. I hate seeing people who genuinely care for each other be kept repressed from enjoying that love to the fullest by people who try to keep them apart. Just seeing them smiling so freely brings my heart joy.
Good for Jimin. It's clear he wanted to talk about being with JK, but rumors of them living together have been going around and him being with JK at 4 in the morning, would have sparked more theories. I can see why RM cut him off. Jikook's satisfied faces are GOLDEN. You have to feel proud for JM biting the bullet, because I'm sure he took heat afterward, but its clear both loved every second of JM saying they were together. Gotta love the side eye JM gives RM after he says JK's name and also that side eye RM gives JM after he's done talking. JM probably got grounded after that lol, but at least the truth was out.

Jikook being the only two people alone together on jungkook’s birthday is so so special. This annihilates any fanservice claims and is yet more evidence at the very least, they are the closest two members of bts. I personallyhave seen too much where the only logical conclusion is they are real ❤️

I think you are spot on. BH and the other members clearly have talked to them about what they should and shouldn’t say or do during lives and interviews. I got the same vibe with the interview they did recently when the 2 of them were in the seat in front of the other members (Suga was missing). JK seemed very unhappy and quiet as if he had been warned to tone things down. 🙁
I agree that the other video where there was a space for Suga between Jimin & Jungkook, that BH did tell them to tone things down. It might just be my delulu self but I got that feeling and when the other members were speaking, JK looked up at them then glanced at Jimin and they started to move their hands/ arms closer. Like in a sneaky subtle way. I also agree in this video about the frustration Jimin had about not being next to JK and not being able to share their closeness about learning they were BB#1!!! It was so satisfying to see Jimin finally explain they were together when they learned the news!
KZhead recommended this video to me because I studied body language and I am really into analysis and so on and after watching it till the end, I can say without any bias whatsoever that them two in question(Jikook,am I right?🤔...Sorry I don’t know them like you girls do!😉)are a bit more than just friends.They really stand out as a couple (in a body language point of view ) and you know what???Good for them! My thought was always JK was looking at him as if to say "really? you're not gonna clarify this? not gonna mention i was there? You need to fix this." And you can tell Min wanted to tell their story from the start. I'm so glad he took the opportunity when presented next and ran with it. Good for them both
We also have to remember Jimins running on like 2-3 hours of sleep bc he said in the interview the same day that he went to sleep at 7 and in this live he said he picked up the cake in the morning so he’s very sleep deprived which could be the reason for his low energy
I have to say your observations seem quite accurate and psychologically plausible. Indeed, the VLive was filled with tension mainly because RM, Hobi and Jin were very aware that BB#1 was a big milestone for them, and they didn’t want Jikook details to detract from this celebration. As usual, the members were all being protective in their own way, more than the two cared for (RM by changing the subject, Tae by being physically affectionate with JK, and by creating diversions such as sharing his crying moment with JM). What you said about the 3rd type of jealousy sounds right: They were definitely frustrated that a special moment they shared had to be kept hidden and denied. It is satisfying that JM took a chance and had his truth out during the Press Conference, which was an even bigger and more public platform... On big public platforms, JM and JK seem to walk a tight rope: it’s a balancing act between their need for self expression and their understanding that they have to be discreet.

SO in the BB#1 night JiKook received the news together and cried together while caressing each others hands at 3.30AM in the morning and during JK B'day Vlive Jimin was going to tell us about this but the members prevented them and then Jimin switched onto telling us about how he made Tae a phone call to talk about the BB#1 (while V revealed that JM was reluctant to leave JK s' room) and then JK asked Jimin with sarcasm "Ah really? YOU TWO cried together then?" (not with me Jiminssi? okay that's TOTALLY what happened) and JK was giving Jimin a very long stare that spoke a thousand unspoken words - "Jimin-ah its OKAY we can't keep hinting the world how close we are but WE know what happened so its fine, don't be so down on dumps baby, I'll take care of you later" ( I have creative imagination, don't mind) - and during the interview JM actually spilled the beans and JiKook lived happily ever after. The body language part was a little overboard but really this was a GREAT analysis
I just wanna wake up to a world where all kinds of love are accepted. So many beautiful love are unnecessarily hidden to the world because of our judgemental society. I hate how our LGBTQ brothers and sisters can't even get married in some countries. Imagine being together for so many years but not having the rights over one another. Love is love in all forms,it's about time society accepts that.

I avoided this vlive,I watched it only once then don't want to see it again.i was sad seeing jimin's sad face.it pained me that on such occasion he can't be himself...his bubbly being just flew in thin air.
Great analysis! Let me just add that I never believed the "Namjoon tries to control Jikook" or whatever but at the press conference after Jimin said he was with JK, at 20:18 - Namjoon was fidgeting alot and trying so hard to keep a fake smile but it kept falling. He was visibly uncomfortable and borderline upset. Jin got annoyed too if you watch his face at 18:39. That and how they kept cutting off Jimin during the vlive the day before. Also, JK left out that fact JM was with him and was the one who told him intentionally but after Jimin said it, JK looked sheepish like "ops". It's alot to just be nothing. I think they were told to be more professional and discreet. I think the other members think that means JK and JM shouldn't say anything about just the two of them hanging out or showing they're close, while Jimin seems to have a different idea of what that means! If it were any other two members, it would be fine. Just like Tae saying he asked Jimin to come sleep with him and how they cried together. People interpreted that as them being together. People have no issue when it's vmin or yoonmin who were possibly together but it becomes a problem when JM says he was with JK. Especially with Jimin being the one to say it. I wonder why Jimin always says and shows how close they are because he is the one who always gets the backlash! I think it's his way of standing up for himself, which shows he has a strong character and will not keep his head down. But then he gets more hate and I starts wishing he wouldn't say or do anything to show they're close. That he would just let it go. No matter how much I love Jikook, I think him being healthy and safe is more important.

@@srhi1275 I also get the feeling Jimin wants to be as honest and transparent as possible. He is really naive in that sense. He wants to tell as much as he can to the world. He is the "loud" one between the two and because of that he gets the most backlash and hate. I get that's their different personalities and that's why it seems like a one-sided relastionship but if it weren't for all the hate he gets, I wouldn't have been concerned.

I really enjoyed your analysis. I also felt something was off during this live. But what really jumped out at me was JKs reaction to V back hugging, I think the second time. I felt that JK wanted to move away almost immediately but V was kind of holding him there. And JK possibly not wanting to make it obvious, just gave up until he had a chance to move. I could be completely wrong but it just seemed to add to the awkwardness of the live. 💜💜💜💜
Yes the last time,when V was squashing his face, he flat out arched his back and pulled away. You could tell that V wasn't back hugging JK him to annoy Jimin, his hand pats were stiff and formal, I agree it was a distraction. Jimin was close to tears during that Vlive and was shallow mouth breathing at some point to stop the tears forming. During the press conference Jin looked really pissed that Jimin revealed he was with Kookie but RM gave that little smile of approval because deep down I think he supports Jikook.
I do believe V purposely causes trouble between JM and JK. A little jealousy perhaps??

Their satisfied smiles once they finally got it off they chest that they were together the night they heard the news 😭 I’ve watched other analysis on this specific live and most of them only called it a jeonlous moment but this analysis actually makes so much more sense. And the fact that you provide realistic evidence as to why you think this happened other than just saying “oh he did the tongue thing which means his jealous ” or “oh they were mad at each other bc they didn’t talk that much”, makes this analysis 10x more reasonable and realistic than other analysis.

Felt the same way when I first saw the Vlive. Seemed like an uncomfortable situation, no doubt. I truly feel like they are in love with each other (my opinion) but they also love and respect the other members and the Company. It must seem like a double edged sword trying to stay true to your own feelings and respecting what has been built with the other 5 members. True ARMYS would be supportive of happiness for any one in BTS regardless of who they were with...but culter, sponsorship and out right haters could hurt the group. HEARTBREAKING! I really love this analysis. I agree with you on so many things. I have always thought the "jealousy" they sometimes seem to have is because they are jealous that they wish they could be as open as whoever is interacting with their partner. Does that make sense? They want to be free to be close or touch each other with out feeling like they are revealing too much. I think they walk a fine line between wanting to be loud and being scared of the repercussions that could follow. I try not to be too thirsty for jikook moment and just support them any way I can. You know what I feel... I think they are kind of testing the waters.. like remember that interview where jm was asked one thing he would like to bring on a deserted island and he said jk... that's actually a very telling thing, I think this moment is a bit underrated.... I was actually a bit taken aback by the amount of honesty and seriousness it was told..like not the usual joking or teasing, he was so certain, like he is solidifying something,like he was given a near deathly situation but instead of choosing water, mobile or whatever may act as a 'saviour' he chose jk...and his expressions after the host just laughed it away like "oh, that's so funny" ughhh it made me so sad... I think they must have got ample of 'alarm' that publicly revealing that they are dating( if they are which honestly at this point only a blind person will deny) is near to impossible taking the country, it's people, law, their insurmountable fame, reputation, toxic armys, media, and even their whole career into consideration...As much as it pains me to say this but revealing themselves will "taint their reputation"... I can only hope armys will be there for them and will support but I can't say it confidently that they will seeing the hate jikook and jikookers get for as much as showing jikook moments... I can't even imagine how it must be for jikook and also the members...
Although I really do love Jimin and Jungkook's bond, most Jikook videos especially analysis videos have gotten ridiculous. I LOVE what this person said in the beginning of this. Not only is it true but very responsible since there are people out there that just watch analysis videos and don't fact check or research on their own. That's why the Taekooker ship has gotten so toxic. People are allowing others to form their own thoughts and opinions for them. Analysis videos can be entertaining to watch for fun to see what you might've missed or just to see someone else's perspective but it's not to be taken as fact. Nobody's opinion should be taken as fact when nothing's been confirmed. I have my opinions about Jimin and Jungkook's bond but I acknowledge there's a great chance I could right or wrong or somewhere in the middle. Always remember just because you think it, doesn't mean it's true. Anyway just glad to see the comments in the beginning of this video.
I totally agree with you. The part about you saying you also acknowledge there is a chance you are wrong or right is where a lot of other shippers go wrong. They do hardly want to believe that their ship is real, that they don't think about the fact that it can also not be real. I watch analysis videos because I like to see other's perspectives. I ship none of them romantically but I also think about the fact they good be in a romantic relationship.

I just wanted to say that I absolutely love your videos and your channel in general like seriously. I genuinely think your channel is my favourite out of all the jikook channels I've seen simply because you aren't OBSESSED. You don't make up random shit, you don't act like they're already married with 3 children, you don't force unnecessary labels. You're low-key about it, and I like that. I just love how real you are, like you're literally just giving us your opinion and highlighting what's already there. You're very appropriate and realistic and I just love ur analysis videos so much. I also like the body language parts, as I too enjoy studying people and finding out things based on body language. My brain is so simple but I also thought jikook (individually, not as a couple ) seemed off that live . I really just thought they might have been tired and fell asleep super late...then when JM revealed they were together I thought that pretty much confirmed that they probably both fell asleep super late celebrating the #1 and JKs birthday.. maybe feeling a bit hungover lol ? I thought that would be a pretty safe assumption to make since jikook are self proclaimed all nighter buddies and we’ve literally seen their late night antics on film (in the soop) But I definitely didn’t take into account body language and even the deep breathing that jimin was doing (that one really had me 🤔) I really appreciate that you stress that these are all assumptions bc that’s truly what they are 😭 us assuming a bunch of things based on what our individual brains take in. The BIGGEST assumption this whole thing made me make though was that these two deeefintely live together haha but that’s a whole other topic for another video hopefully? Yeah, I agree it was a totally safe assumption to assume they were together (it doesn't necassarily mean they lived together, but like you said, they could have been celebrating and just fell asleep). I definitely have THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS about the whole living situation debate, but I prob won't ever make an analysis about it just because I feel like speculating about their living situation is a bridge too far. 😂😂 Thanks again for watching!
Except that you usually celebrate birthdays the day/ night of your birthday not the night before. This is why I don't agree with people saying "jimin was with Jk at 4am on his birthday", because it was actually the night leading to his birthday, which reduce the possibility of him being with JK because he got too drunk at the birthday party to go home and decided to sleep over. Nope this was a "regular" night and still jimin and jk were together. Of course on its own doesn t mean much but added to other things like them arriving together for a schedule at 6 and 7 am, or them riding together after schedule knowing they had a long day and were exhausted (hinted they were going home and not at friends or other schedule...) Lead to think they are indeed good possibilities of them living together. On another note, I agree they looked super tired, we know they didn't sleep much, and this definitely affected greatly their Demeanor.
@@2222titia I guess everyone’s different bc my birthday celebrations start as soon as the clock strikes midnight haha but the ‘regular night in’ that you say is definitely a possibility bc everyone else seems like they were having a regular night while waiting for the news (some of the members were already in bed fast asleep right?) but yeah I always thought it was interesting that we don’t know much or hear about Jimin moving around or buying real estate as much as we do the other guys. That & with so much other info and things we’ve seen lead me to believe that they live together or in the same building but it’s all assumptions of mine based off of a bunch of little things I’ve noticed over the years lol whatever it may be though I think we can all agree that they are definitely really close and choose to spend off schedule time together time and time again - they really seem to enjoy each other’s company greatly

Thank you for your impartial analysis of what happened at JK's Vlive birthday. I commend you on your acute insight of Jikook and your thoughts about what they are both going in discretely keeping the balance between their public and private life. Jimin's answer to the p-conference was well placed and said with discretion. Their bond grows stronger with each passing day .....and I am so very happy for them!
11:16 what you wrote there seems pretty spot on with what comes across to me and with Jimin looking down it’s like he’s lost and yes he is in a fight or flight situation. He’s zoned out and when Jin embraces his leg he comes to the attention but not fully because he is still distracted with what his thoughts and emotions. Also with looking down he’s trying not to look at situation going on around him he’s trying to distract himself. He’s hurting for sure. He’s uncomfortable and he’s silently reaching out to Jk. The VLive made me sad, too. It is obvious how uncomfortable both Jungkook and Jimin are... I found myself wondering why didn't they let Jimin sit next to Jungkook, especially for his birthday. You are so spot on in regards to the challenges that they must face on many levels. It is so obvious how the pressure is applied via RM (talk about body language and facial expressions! 20:06 - 20:29 ), and how Tae and Jin were attempting to direct interactions. It is understandable why their relationship is a challenge. They face a lot of pressure from so many directions.

Thank you SO much for this analysis. I agree completely. In another analysis video by a Jikooker, it was pointed out that JK double blinks when he gets emotional. Watch his smile again right after Jimin reveals the truth, and bingo - there's the double blink at 19:44! I understand why there are repeated disclaimers everywhere for this analysis, but really, two may be enough - one at the beginning and one at the very end. At this point, knowing what we've seen and what Jikook has revealed themselves, we'd be delusional to think they *aren't* in some kind of relationship. I found this entire VLive very uncomfortable, especially the parts when V was backhugging JK, because JK seemed to lean forward and sit up at the earliest opportunity. RM's and Jin's reactions to Jimin's reveal are also very telling; they weren't happy. It must be so difficult for JK and Jimin to walk that tightrope all the time, especially in VLives when no editing is possible. (I wonder if they got in trouble for the latest VLive for "BE: Essential Edition"? Jikook were in their own bubble for much of it as usual.) I'm not sure I'd want them to go public; once it's out they can't take it back and there'd be a lot of fallout not only affecting them but also the rest of BTS. I wish the world in general was more accepting; I only want them to be happy, but how can they truly be happy if they always have to be so careful and hide who they really are?
Loved your entire reply, just one little thing: of course the video maker had to mention on several occasions that everything he/she pointed out were just assumptions. Both because I love the dynamic of their relationship, but also because I’m a sucker for body language and observing people. (Lots of content to observe when talking of BTS). I just watched this video and I love it thanks for making it. I have a different take on it and I see that their super tired not stressed and JK did not like what Tae was saying when he was talking about the call/text between him and JM and he said you can some sleep next to me if your tired then JK was like WHAT! you didn't tell me he said that. That's why he was looking at him for so long, he kinda looked a little mad till the end. then the next day at the press thing I didn't notice anything between Jikook because I'm always looking At RM's reaction to what they say or do and as usual he looked upset about JM's story. I haven't figured out yet what his deal is with them and what exactly upsets him but you can always see it on his face.

As an empath I agree with about 95% of your assessment of the situation. These were the emotions I felt rolling off of them at the time. For you to pick up on it too means you are somewhat empathetic also. One thing I did notice, when Jimin was looking down and looking quite sad and frustrated. It appeared that Jin looked up at the monitor and noticed Jimin and moved his arm over jimin's knee to send some kind of comfort and support. Jin's arm remained there for some time. He also rubbed JK's back and tried to cheer him up. I feel Jin (who to me appears to be one of their biggest supporters) was very well aware of their situation in that moment. I often see him look out for them, whether he can physically reach out to them in the moment is not always the case. But he supports and cares for them deeply. When they express how they feel openly every so often you'll see the joy in Jin's eyes if not his whole face. J-hope too, but in a different way. I think it is incredibly frustrating for both involved when they may have management and other members requesting that they don't show certain aspects of their relationship to the cameras or in public. Only then for the same members to freely hug and lay with and caress one or other of Jikook in front of the cameras. The resulting frustration on their face is being read as jealousy when it fact it is frustration and sadness. Because if i was in love and wanted to express that love with affection and wasn't allowed but everyone else was I would feel that way too. Thank you for this. It always feels good to know you were not the only one seeing these things.
I felt that same. Jin is the best supporter of jikook. I found that at some of vlives, jm was front of camera, jk was far behind, looked sad, jin noticed and swap his position with jk, pushed jk to near jm. And when jm spoke our room (not my room) or we (not l) on the vlive While they did eat jin in the hotel room.Jin always try to cover up the mistakes through his comic joke. He is very warm hearted hyung n great jikook supporter.

This is a really good video. I hadn't gone back to look at their interactions closely until you posted this. Also, they were tired after having been up all night so I think that had a lot to do with it some of the subdued energy. It occurred to me that some bands/performers etc. have to put forth an image whether they are hetero or not. Dating is banned for kpop idols as we know it, so they are still teetering on that "rule" even though they are past the hard control part of their career. Of course this is all conjecture on my part. I do think that is part of it though. Imagine if we found out one or more members was in a serious relationship and "off the market" so to speak. I wouldn't (I'm old) - but TONS of fans would be grieving for their bias and it would cause a stir for the entire group. It's just another layer of why keeping it on the down low is important. I like your level headed considerations of the situations. After these early September videos, it seems like a lot of the content that came out last Fall seemed to be hinting at greater intimacy between Jikook. I’m not saying that Jikook changed/became more intimate per se, but rather that what BH and their editors decided to show was more intimate. (Like for example the 👉👈 moment in the BE unboxing clip. It didn’t seem to be for the “audience” or even to entertain the other members. It was quiet and between the two of them, and that made it feel different.) Anyway, I haven’t taken the time to really compare last Fall’s content with anything previously, this is just the feeling I got. If you have thoughts about this, and especially if you thought it was worthy of an analysis video, I’ll be first in line to watch!

i dont want to read much into it but in the birthday day and in this BB interview it seems RM and Jin were trying to change the subject by interrupting. Once JM finally mentions that he and JK were together RM, Jin and Suga look like they are upset... it may just be them being protective of the boys and knowing the hate they will get for that.

Really, I would agree with most of your words on the body language since me myself have experience it especially the deep breath part. That is certainly means 'uncomfortable' or 'being concious of something around you'. And I love that you keep reminding that we don't know whatever their 'status' is for the time being because that is a fact. No one knows but them. We are talking about real person. We should never be certain on something (in a serious manner) that we don't know. This is what needed so that no wars, toxics and fights would occur.
