This is a great PC for me. I dind't play games anymore. I edit videos and edit many photos. So I need a fast CPU and a iGPU for Video encoding. This can do this 5600G.
Been waiting for this one. LETZZZ GOOOO!
A lot of folks are slapping 2x 1TB NVME and 2x 2TB SSD 2.5" drives in these things and turning them into tiny energy-saving home servers running TrueNAS Scale. With the 5600G and 64GB of RAM you can reliably run about 50-60 different moderately-loaded containers on them. While my Plex library and VMs still sit on my ASUSTOR4 NAS, I moved all my Docker containers off onto this tiny beast due to Docker always crashing out on the ASUSTOR4 even after manually upgrading it and Portainer to the latest versions direct from the developers themselves. Of course TrueNAS isn't really Docker (hint: it's kubernetes) it acts like it enough for me to run everything I need on it.
Great review of the mini PC!
Thanks! Not a review, but still.
Thx for the Video. I missed some Screens from BIOS (CPU and Power/Wattage Options), and about the Power draw under different loads, also while playing with GeForce Now.
Appreciate you watching, and thanks for pointing that out. I definitely should've shown more screens and proper power testing. Will be keeping this in mind whenever I get to work with another system like this.
When most of the empty boxes on the shelf are larger than your pc. It was a pretty cool video bro, nice!
Lol, it's so tiny and cute I love it.
Best reason for me to get this now was being an apple m1 mini killer for general computing and office pc setup.
This is one of the best HTPC system at the moment
nice im getting this
Hey man do you know what screwdriver I need for the 4x screws at the back? I have what I consider a standard phillips screwdriver and it's too big
hey can you please help me? what should i buy asus tuf gaming vg27vq or asus tuf gaming vg279q1r or msi optix g272 ?
Can use with non G cpu? Like 5700x or 5600x? I already have egpu setup. 😊
Great video bro. I built my father one of these for Xmas using the A300 a few years ago now and he loves it. Athlon 3000g, 8GB Ram and nvme SSD.. all he really needs. This year I was planning to build mom her own using the X300 version. Unfortunately my Ryzen rigs motherboard died and since I was working from home needed a quick replacement. Ordered a 5600g to drop in with 16GB of ram.. fired right up no bios issues at all. Performance has been great!! My only complaint is that when using the 5600g apparently you lose the ability to put the little DeskMini to sleep. For some crazy reason Asrock disabled the S3 standby ability. Why? No idea... but you CAN NOT PUT the Asrock Deskmini X300 to sleep or hibernate manually. Those options simply aren't available on Windows 11 with this. As I just thought it was a Bios configuration error and not that serious of a deal I put off investigating for a few months. But now that I've had the time to look into it.. nope.. Asrock straight up disabled it. So if you are a person who likes to put their system to sleep regularly you'll either have to stick to a 3400, 2400 or Athlon series CPU or find an alternative rig. Of note.. the system will hibernate if you configure it to under Power Options. But to tell it manually.... I haven't found a workaround yet. Short of that.... I really still love these little Asrocks. I highly recommend them still.
Thanks, man! Sorry to hear about your board, may it rest in peace. Really cool of you to set your parents up with rigs like these, they're perfect for people who don't need all of the fancy bells and whistles. Weird, I had no idea that was an issue with the DeskMini and 5600G. That's really annoying. Any chance there's a new BIOS out that brings back the functionality? If not I'd definitely report it to ASRock.
Thanks man. It's fine.. with AM5 around the corner I might just do a full system build with Ryzen 7000. I'll wait it out a bit longer to see where these prices go. There is a Beta bios on the site that was released July 7th. Notes don't mention anything about enabled S3 but I might try it anyway just in case. I'm convinced Asrock implemented this for market segmentation. That's the only thing I can figure as to why they'd do this. After some googling I found one user who did a deep dive on this that mostly confirms my suspicion. S3 is clearly disabled even under Linux. You can read more on his findings here: lorenz.brun.one/enabling-s3-sleep-on-x300/ Asrock even mentions it under the specifications section, Remarks on the last line which states : DeskMini X300 Series don't support S3 function. www.asrock.com/nettop/AMD/DeskMini%20X300%20Series/#Specification But notice it doesn't say anything about S3 being disabled on 4000 / 5000 series APU's. Regardless I still missed this warning before buying it. No one thinks... "Does this PC support S3 mode?" S3 has been a pretty standard thing on all things PC for the better part of a decade at least. For the most part the 5600g has been running well and I can't complain. It's been a great mini powerhouse while i've been working from home. So if you can use those cores and threads but want something that won't take up your entire desk go for it. 5600g/5700g should work right out of the box. But no S3 is just a small annoyance for the most part. The other 95% is great!
@@DarkMikaruXHopefully it will be released either this year or next! Just read that Asrock will release Deskmini X600 as soon as Ryzen releases their 7000G series 😁 By the way, I have never used Asrock Deskmini before, but is it recommended to put it vertically or horizontally?🤔
@@Mosestylez Yeah, hopefully S3/S4 is re-enabled. I'd find it odd if they didn't. As for orientation, doesn't really matter. Mom's is mounted on the back of her monitor in the bedroom. Dad's sits in his office like a regular desktop. Both rock SSD's only so yeah.. you can mount it anyway you like. With SSD's so cheap these days no reason to have a 2.5in HDD in it. SSD or bust lol
Hello Sir, Just got hands on a ryzen 7 5700g. The performance should be enough for daily computing needs. After months will upgrade from a ryzen 5 3400g. So my question is did you use the provided 19V/ 120W PSU for all the tests?
Hey man, that 5700G is going to be a beast in this system. Yip, I used the included PSU for all testing. Considering I even ran the 5600G with an overclock and it worked fine, I don't think the 5700G is going to be a problem.
@@TheTechTank Hey there, thanks for response. Indeed this is a powerhouse to this day. Made some tweaks on the BIOS, removed all drivers of vega 11 and installed new chipset drivers. The machine is very cool, tested it and doesn't go over 55C when stressed with OCbase/OCCT. The stock PSU is not an issue either.
@Brian Babin hey man! Thanks for the update. As hardware upgrades these days move so fast I don’t know neither of my Asrock Deskmini w/ Ryzen 7 APU (weaker graphics than the Ryzen 5 3400G) anymore. That was mostly a WFH machine at the time. I have now since moved to a full blown Intel 12th gen B660 and i5 12400 Combo instead.
Jo, like now I want to know if the Wraith stealth would fit in that case? As well as what the temps would be like with it?
Just measured the stock cooler from the 5600X and it's 55mm high, so almost no chance it'll fit, unfortunately. There are a few decent coolers that should fit though, like there's one from Noctua that I would get for a system like this. Temps should be great due to all of the ventilation.
@@TheTechTank Thank you.
@@TheTechTank Grinder enters the chat
@@TheTechTank People just take the shroud off the 5x00G box cooler and it fits snuggly. It's better than the asrock cooler.
@@Odd_Taxi_epi04 hi rene, not better per se, cooling wise they are on par most of the time - but for the noise, the amd box cooler is a lot better,so I would go for the amd stock - or the noctua one, which so superior! :D you got an x300/a300 yourself? cheers mate
Hi Thanks for video looking to upgrade to this from my asus p50, but i'm in the UK and cant find a good one cheap enough ?
Why are you looking to upgrade the P50, it seems great too? Wish I could point you in the right direction, but I have no idea where you'd buy the X300 in the UK (I'm in South Africa). It looks like Amazon UK is selling the barebones kit, but it's kind of pricey.
@@TheTechTank HI thanks for the reply i have the revision 1 version with the 4800u and dying light jsut barely runs and grid legends is the same , im using sabrent 1tb as my drive so its time upgrade as most new games wont run on vega graphics thanks
Just ordered x300 + 3000G might send back 3000G and get 5600G within the Amazon no fault return. 🤷🏽♂️
Is bios update needed to install 5600G?
Do you think I could run a game like rust or dayz on this ? I’m able to play on my current setup which is just a gt 730 with 16gb of ram. So I think it would but I just want to be sure..
Run? Probably. Run well? With low settings and resolution they should run well enough to be playable.
@@TheTechTank awesome thanks ! Helps alot
I couldn't get the 2 m.2 nvme to work only slot 2 is recognized in the bios I did a lot of troubleshooting but couldn't find thee issue. If u have any ideas please let me know!. Thanks for the video!
Have you updated the BIOS to the latest version yet? Are you sure the drive is formatted correctly?
if i remeber right one or both slots are nvme only, plus depending on the cpu it might be full or half speed
A very interesting review... It was offered to me for 300€, is it possible to connect water cooling for the processor and does it make any sense at all since I don't plan to use it for games? but, since water coolers can be bought for 50€, why not!
I mean you could.. but you'd have to drill some holes for the hoses and have the cooler outside the case. It would not make any sense to do so, but sure, you could water cool it.
Ive had this one for a couple of years ...I have 4 ssds in it..........its never let me down. I have yet to find any minipc that does as well on benchmarks. ( I overclock)
What do you play on it?? I want one
@@user-yw1kl8kr2e I do NOT game.
How 4 ssd? I just have 2 nvme and 2 ssd. It runs smootly 👍

Hello, which software do you use to stream your games?
Hi, I used Steam Link. I think it's built into Steam itself, but you can check it out here: store.steampowered.com/app/353380/Steam_Link/
Some time ago I have build my Asrock X300. I worked perfectly with a Samsung monitor connected via HDMI, and the sound worked perfectly with headset, sound via ears and sound out via microphone using the front panel connectors. Recently bought AOC 24P2Q Monitor. This monitor is also connected via HDMI. Now there is no sound via the front panel at all! In the monitor there is Audio in and out - I can hear the sound via headset (not loud enough) and via an external loudspeaker. There is no way to talk via the microphone. Is it a problem of the monitor? Will I have the same problem using any other monitor that has audio plug in jacks? Is the sound coming via the HDMI and cancels the front connectors of my X300? If I will connect the AOC monitor via the D-sub port will I have the same problem?
try control panel -> sound. right click on the monitor and disable it as a sound device. you can always re-enable it later if you need to.
@@BeBopScraBoo Thanks a lot. It works!
@@ronyzmiri no prob amigo.
@@BeBopScraBoo I simply love my first time ever build X300!
1:57 I miss twoo screws, does anyone know the screw type? (I mean the 4 case screws) Thanks!
I have replaced all 4 of my case screws with black Knurled ones from a full size pc case.
Does the Stock Cooler in the Stock Version fit under it? From the 5600g?
YES ...but u must take off the plastic shroud on top of the fan
Question ❓ didn't you have to update the bios on the deskmini? I heard it won't work out of the box
No idea, actually. The system was sent to me already fully set up with everything installed. I'm guessing that depending on when/where you buy the DeskMini you might have to update the BIOS for the newer chips to work.
My Deskmini x300 worked right out of the box with the 5600g. No issues at all. Fired right up!
Bios should be V1.70 if you use 5000 series
@@DarkMikaruX Im about to get one also, and i only have the 5600g to work with...I must say that i am a bit worried about this.
@@woofaki5550 Yes sir. I can confirm it doesn't work even with the latest bios update. Otherwise it seems to work great as an everyday little workstation. Temps are good and performance is great. I have noticed that sometimes the system freezes but it's not so frequent that it's alarming or troubling.

No way! I wondered why I didn't see you pop in as fast as usual. KZhead doesn't like us anymore.
Bruh, struggle is real.
Hi,there,Do i need to replace the original radiator? Is it noisy?
The one showed in the video? No need to replace it, IMO. It wasn't noisy at all.
Can iuse this for Photoshop and video editing
Yes, but video editing is going to be pretty slow with no dedicated graphics card.
does it need a bios update to support a 4600G/5600G
For 4600G no, for 5600G you need BIOS P1.70

Appreciate the clarification, a lot of the listings I saw didn't mention it.
@@TheTechTank I purchased an Deskmini x300 adding very similar components a few months back and use it for streaming (Netflix/HBOmax/KZhead - sound card is decent when I configured for 5.1 output for my Home Theater) and some PC gaming in addition to daily PC duties. Although mine came with a low profile cooler, I ended up using the stock cooler that came with the AMD 5600g processor minus the outer plastic ring on the cooler since it had a more substantial fan and fit within the box (close) that way.
That's awesome, I wondered whether you could mod the stock wraith cooler to fit into this bad boy.
@@TheTechTank yeah you can, remove that plastic with amd letters, then you have just fan and heatsink, it fits exactly, like not even 1 mm to spare. But having fan agains case mesh will cause some fan noise
