Hopefully you will continue to do videos to encourage those of us that are of an elderly persuasion and that are a little fearful of technology but keen to learn; you're never too old to learn.

I recently wrote a partial guide to making a consistent character in MJ in Hebrew, and I posted a link to your masterclass playlist as one of the better teachers out there on MJ. You have been a big help in making it easier to make illustrations for my children's books.

I'm too secretive to tell all my prompt sauce secrets, but these are the basics. Midjourney has been therapeutic for me. But I am looking at my creations and wondering how, as an example, one of my generated previews of 4 variations is1920x2400, and an upscaled image from that same set is 960x1200? Each upscale is the same size as it is in my initial render of 4? How is this an upscale if the dimensions are the same?

      @sfreakmusic@sfreakmusic Жыл бұрын
    • @@sfreakmusic With V5 it's *not* an upscale anymore, it's just a slice, because V5 already renders out the full res. Older versions did not and needed upscaled.

      @analog-dreams@analog-dreams11 ай бұрын
    • @@analog-dreams okay, well that's what originally got my attention, because you said at 7:55 that the 4 generated previews were lower rez and not really useful, when in fact the previews ARE actually high rez. All along I thought it was due to the 8k keyword in the prompt. Either way, glad the preview variations are now automatically high rez and not lower rez like you mentioned. 👍

  • You know, I can't tell you how to run your business, but as a career visual artist I'm pretty disappointed to see this here. I found it looking at your gumroad for your OBS masterclass. I think you've demonstrated you're a very smart person, I think it should be clear to you that AI apps like Midjourney are implemented, at best, in ethically murky ways. Selling and teaching prompts feels like pure hucksterism to me. While I'm sure you have some insight into the process, this still changes how I have felt about you, and I think you put it on this second channel for a reason. Idk, man, I really like you and how thoughtful you are, and I don't like this.

    • I put it on a second channel because my art projects (AI or otherwise) don’t fit in or do well on main. And thus this channel has exploded in a crucial way to me surviving this year as a result. As a lifetime artist I do get the concerns and I think it’s important to navigate them with consideration. But my career has been built on democratizing creative tech and that applies here, too

  • I use Stable Diffusion A LOT, but I'm sooo tempted to learn MidJourney. Thank you!

    • @@analog-dreams a huge difference I'm noticing is the fundamentally community-centric nature of MJ that just seems to bombard users with inspiration, whereas my experience in SD ( which don't get me wrong has an awesome community too ) is that I tend to go off on my tangents and maybe struggle a bit with quality and outside input, although, if I can drop my SD creations into MJ to improve them then that's not wasted effort I can just take everything to the next level

  • "Renaissance gothic painting!" (two very different styles of art from two periods of time, often using words they just dont understand). Its funny watching people wholeheartedly embracing their "artistic spirit" because they can string together a few prompts, separated by commas. All for AI to work its totally randomised magic. It's almost like watching someone navigate a maze with a blindfold on. The blindfold I refer to is their lack of artistic education and any interest in art, or lighting, or color theory, or composition, prior to the invention of AI art creation. This absence of any Photoshop prowess unfortunately also prevents them from engaging or having control over the outcome of their "a few minutes typing" endeavours may have produced. Sorry to be so negative, but it kind of grates,

    • It’s almost as if combining elements from the different styles is, in part, the point. Especially when trying to manipulate an algorithm that (as you said) is prone to randomness. I come from an art background, just not a painting one. I’ve been a photographer for 15 years, been using photoshop longer. I studied art history a fair bit in college You’re preaching to the wrong crowd here buddy

  • Midjourney is for plebs. Zero control, zero creativity. If you can't learn Stable Diffusion, just quit.

    • Gatekeeping “skill” when using an ai art tool. Hilarious.

      @analog-dreams@analog-dreams2 ай бұрын
    • @@analog-dreams I'm not gatekeeping anything. Just saying that Midjourney is like ebay. You type what you want and you get few results from which you can chose, which makes you a customer. Stable Diffusion on the other hand is open source, which means you have complete control over every aspect of generation, which also means you'll know how the image will look before it's generated. But it's very complex and not accessible for plebs. Why I say this? Because using Midjourney will get you nowhere. It's purely for fun. Stable Diffusion on the other hand is already used for archiviz, design, marketing, animation, vfx and the list goes on, and that's because it can be modified for specific needs.

  • I posted a dumb question here earlier ( which I've since deleted as the video answered it - also I realise "there are no dumb questions" when learning ) and yeah, I had no idea there were so many x-wave y-punk z-core genres out there ( like, WOW - awesome!! ) and I'm only 53 minutes in atm and I notice there's a thing called "aesthetic wiki" ( again, WOW, hello?! I needed this ), so in short, THANK YOU for making this video, a third of the way in and it's already been a treasure trove ( so full of info I'm taking it in doses )

  • Is Stable Diffusion able to do the same things like MidJourney ?

    @FirstLast-pu9ty@FirstLast-pu9ty10 ай бұрын
    • They're very similar in a lot of ways. MidJourney 5.2 is a bit more sophisticated and elegant, Stable Diffusion gives you a bit more free range, and the prompts work in different ways. I suggest exploring both!
